looks like we'll just have to do it again, soon. this time, hopefully we'll have fewer corked bottles of wine. there were 2 at this particular gathering. one rhone rose, and a great looking dessert wine brought by coquille that had lots of promise to be wonderful. damnit.
a success. jon even stayed awake. coquille took notes of everything. by the way she was writing, i think there was an entire transcript of the evening produced. i'll let her share if she wants.
if it's got some acidity, and some fruit (which may or may not make it "good" or "bad"), i'd still use it for some cooking applications. if it just plain tastes like shit, however, dump it.
and if the signs aren't positive you'll walk out and do it in another restaurant, and another, until you find a reasonable place? i might be inclined to go the same route, although i'd probably stop at McDonald's between restaurants to stave off my hunger.

Thanks for cleaning up your language with that asterisk. If you had said "fuckin" it would have been a whole different ballgame. i thought your mom might be reading trying to sort out the directions for you.
take 80 east to the turnpike south, which is probably marked as 95 south. then take the first exit (it says Ridgefield/Ridgefield Park - follow the road for "Ridgefield" - you want to get on 46 east here). this puts you on 46 east. you'll then get off at the first exit (grand ave) as above. click here (i hope) to see 80 on the top, the turnpike (95) connecting it headed south towards 46.
this still makes no sense . sorry. the "wine" issue you bring up seems to be a red herring. yup. and that applies to not-so-fine-dining as well. drawing conclusions based on the existence of parking lots in a city such as NY for example will leave you confused and at Olive Garden.
that does seem to be what the cook is getting at. although i think he knows he's full of it just as much as we do. or at least he realizes that many great restaurants aren't accessible by mass transit. or worse yet, perhaps he *doesn't* realize this.
i bet their business would change if they then started suddenly allowing smoking. i think the crux here is the change in atmosphere. namely, smoking to non-smoking overnight.
i've heard that fairway in NJ is related to fairway in NY. but fat guy has slapped me down several times for even thinking it. i'm confused about the others. all i know is that the place on 17 isn't worth a 2 minute drive.
why must he confuse me: from the turnpike north, get off at 46 east. take the first exit, take a left to go under 46, and quick left to get back on 46 heading west. it's directly on the right. big yeller sign. looks like a diner.
dude. jeesh. "take the GWB to 46 West. China 46 is immediately after the Grand Ave exit." from the turnpike north, get off at 46 east. take the first exit, take a left to go under 46, and quick left to get back on 46 heading west. it's directly on the right. big yeller sign. looks like a diner.
