  1. Wasn't that said in both episode two and three? Or am I just remembering seeing the teaser after ep. 2? If it was said both times, is Olive Garden a sponsor too? that's all the average person could come up with.
  2. if you put a camera in front of someone's face, most people will do just about anything for their 15 seconds.
  3. bars oustide of NY are doing a bit better. according to this.
  4. do you really think that's a possibility? that's like watching The Real World and thinking that all 20 somethings are complete douches. give people a little more credit than that. and those who don't deserve that credit don't really matter anyway.
  5. i must be thicker than i thought. what does "short pour" mean? i assume that means "give them a little". and if that's the case, i still don't see how that gets the to drink quicker, which would seem to be the goal if you want to move another bottle.
  6. i'm not saying that he should have made that joke. but i am suggesting it came across to me as a light-hearted jab.
  7. i can. when you're making a joke. happens all the time. and i assume that's what happened there. people who are laid back and bust balls are often misunderstood by those who are uptight or take life too seriously. not that topher is like that, but, you know.
  8. Linda Stasi is not a resturant critic. I think she's the Post TV critic, formerly a gossip reporter. Edit: Here's what Stasi wrote. not a bad article i suppose. i didn't realize that was zarela next to her. unless they didn't show zarela.
  9. do you assume the Post critic saw that? i don't think rocco is the only exec. chef/owner that isn't sweating in the kitchen.

    soft food

bean thread noodle with lime juice/fish sauce. basically the thai dish yum woon sen, but without anything that you'd need to chew. also, bean thread noodle in just about any curry preparation that you'd normally use meat or vegetable.
  11. it seems that egullet is now some sort of bizarro support group/day-time talk show.
  12. great piece, craig. and i also appreciate when people use the phrase "champing at the bit". one question: why short pour people who are drinking quickly?
  13. finally, a team where i could make a difference. http://www.msnbc.com/news/947292.asp?vts=080220032230
  14. and some complain about complaining anonymous people. but that's a whole 'nother thread. or not.
  15. it's called the "new heritage diner" now. perhaps they remodeled since the 40's. when friends of mine moved to hackensack several years ago, i passed that diner and proclaimed that it would end up being a new late-night stop for me. i've never set foot in the place.
  16. i would venture to say that that is a different market. but yes, there probably isn't anything wrong with flattering food photography for a high-end restaurant.
  17. Rosa Mexicano was on Second Avenue, near 59th Street at least 20 years ago. 1st ave. you should know that sandra!
  18. Bubba's, on rt 46 e in south hackensack, is quite unique in that it's only open at night, ostensibly for drunk idiots, and serves only egg sandwiches (or if it *doesn't* serve only egg sandwiches, it should). no soda. only bug juice, which is quite frustrating at 2 am, actually.

    Decanting

say uhhh, what's the easiest/best way to clean a decanter? can't get my fat little fingers down there so good.
  20. sounds like an interesting idea that might help those who have cravings. just have a shot instead!

    lobels/wagyu...help

    drats. foiled again.
  22. just because there are a lot of people looking for work, doesn't mean that it's easy to find the right fit. in fact, it suggests quite the opposite to me.
  23. YEAH!! I'M WITH YOU!!! i HATE spending countless minutes on the internet.

    lobels/wagyu...help

now that it's mentioned, what's wrong with a le creuset pan? aside from the probable high sides and steaming effect. edited because i never know which affect to use.
  25. i don't see why it can't be both. it seems to me that it needs to be easy to read/navigate, and contain accurate information. whether that information is presented with java or shockwave doesn't matter to me. pretty pictures are pleasing to the eye, and convey information themselves. these are some broad generalizations here. howeer, i think we can all agree that it should have accurate information. the rest is simply a matter of taste. and the experts aren't here any longer.
