Show = good Cameraman = drunk

I have the same popcorn pot I got for xmas a couple years ago. It is quite thin aluminum --maybe a little too thin, yes, as one must be cautious as to overheating and scortching. Still beats microwave (gasp) tho. I like Old Bay on mine. Mmmm... popcorn 'n beer. Time for a...

Well, "Stone," before the 75 on Wilson in Rosslyn, there was the 75 in Rockville and one in Falls Church off Arlington Bl. There have been many imitators, tho no duplicators. The 75 in Rosslyn has recently raised their large bowl prices to $7, which has lead me to frequent the Rockville (where it rocks) location and the Arlington location (where one can still buy cigarrettes). Pho Ga is their chicken version that's very tasty. Ask for the "chicken oil." Ph“ (no sp. char. support) is the sum of all its parts. One needs to know the parts and their assembly. Sorry, Perlow.

Dont forget the fennel. Use oxtails for the stock.

Of course, alchohol diminishes taste, too. No more wine with dinner for me. I don't want to screw up that bernaise I made for the sirloin.

I'm sure I'll trump someone by saying: it's not who, but what.

I think the reason they run those multi-annual fundraisers is because they have run out of money. All they can afford are shows like "Doo-wop 50" or "America's Home Kitchen" or "Yanni's Greatest Hits" etc...

I've seen it spelled both ways in the first two cookbooks I pulled off the shelf.

Ummmmm...just out of curiousity...how many days in a row do you wear the same clothes? That's what I was thinking

I don't think the best isclarified.

That would be xtra virgin olive oil.

That is unless the Tylenol has a number attatched to it. I second the vote for Pho. Where I live, in DC, the Pho place (Pho 75) also has a chicken version. Yummy.

Food TV ceased operations years ago. This new moniker, "Food Network," is yet another grasping, philistine attempt to garner some stupid cliche audience. So how many programming and name changes do I have to endure? What's worth viewing? A Cook's Tour? Stupid schlock crap for stupid people. Keep that joke of a channel in business, suckers.
-
It's not Food TV anymore. It's E(ntertainment) and F(ood)T(elevision)N(etwork). That's EFTN. Imagine ESPN showing food-fights and you got it. Their demographic is the much vied for 18-19 y.o. white sub-suburban-college-dorm-living white male slot who eats Kraft Mac & Cheese chased down with Oreo's and could care less about food and its craft. Instead, he stares dreamily at Rachael (don't call me Martha) Ray, imagining how much fun it has to be eating such "yummo" clone recipe riblets from TGIFriday's. FTV is not entertaining. FTV is not informative. FTV is a sell-out 24hr a day infomercial selling type 2 diabetes.

Should light or dark rum be used?

Then you must not like Unwrapped, Food Finds, or Ultimate Kitchens. Neither do I. I just can't find the reason to watch anything except Bourdain, but since he --and Mario-- are in repeats, I avoid FTV.
-
So did Fox. We could discuss the quality of their shows, but that's another argument. 'The Simpsons' is ok. FTV knew it had a good thing, and sold itself out for a profit to Scripps who was able to endure the original FTV creditor's demands. I think if the original ownership of FTV was able to endure the demands from the creditors, we wouldn't be watching more of '$40 (US) a Day' and 'Food Finds,' but more of 'Taste' and 'Chef du Jour' and 'Melting Pot' and --not that I watch those shows, anyway.

FTV has seen it necessary to replace old-school foodies with pseudo neo "chefs" who's only claim to foodie training is a 2 weekend class at the local culinary school. These same folks have also spent several weekends in media training courses at wherever. Most shows there are hosted by ex-tv people and not foodies. You see, FTV is now in the same genre as ESPN, yet more aligned toward EFPN (entertainment and food programming network) than the simple, informative, interesting format of even 3 years ago. After assuming the original ownership's debt, FTV deem necessary a change to the entire format consisting of something wanting to lose the core viewership built up over several years, replacing that with a broader minded, generic audience easily impressed by someone who can read cue cards and explain her family history all the while promoting convienience foods and agro-business. I stopped watching when they 'retired' cooking live, but that may not have been to everyone's taste, either. Each show has a specific audience and carefully chosen time slot attempting to enable it to get the maximum rating for the minimum of cost. I can't stand Alton Brown's show because there are so many obvious attempts of commercial intent that I find it an insult. 1)Constant, yet amateuristic camera movement leaving one sea-sick and thinking of how "Blair Witch Project" did it better --and first. I can't see clearly if I have to tilt my head 90 degrees to see what's going on. And this goes on for the entire show. It's not 'cutting edge.' 2)Constant implication of that salt container with an obvious intent of pushing it commercially. 3)The man is obviously an actor first, not a great one I might add, and a foodie second. 4)Was "Taste" really that bad for them to sweep it under the "Good Eats" carpet? 4)FTV just plainly went moronic. How many schedule changes and self-promotions does this network make per week? They have a good thing, but have zero idea on food. It's all about $$$. Of course, that's what the american way is all about, I guess. I went from 24/7 viewing to nil viewing.

I don't know nor can find out why there are subtitles only for "chairman Kaga" and not the others. Most likely, the translations are tarted-up to add to the entertainment value of the show. I would definately rather have the subtitles since the actors who's voices they use are keen on pronouncing words ending with -ing as "go-een" (going), "topp-een" (topping), "eat-een" (eating), etc. It grates on me nerves after a while.

Has anyone contacted Kraft to see about availability?

Not only old, but most likely unclean meat as well. Although it may have been irradiated, meat with sh*t on it is still meat with sh*t on it.

Are you talking about the same 'Fine Living' network that is also owned by the same group as 'Food TV'?
