    Salad 2016 –

No but before you create mush I'd dress everything and add pasta at the end. Let us know
  2. Some cities ban blowers. My guys use them because property extensive but they blow into plant areas so "mulch" material. I see them doing into street at places. Really? Just gonna blow back. My allergies = not happy. Bart an author here is the guy I mentioned earlier http://www.cachumapress.com/catalog/california-lawn.html

Neither do I. Media here in US turned it into such a devil.

Well and MSG is on their ingredient list online
  5. Agree on lawns. I think your trough makes a lovely artistic statement especially with herbs peeking over top. Is it galvanjzed so it will mellow with age? My best basil ever was in the front yard. It would get HUGE. People knocked on the door asking if they could get a bit. My half Viet god daughter would stick her nose in it and take bunches home (though it was Italian strain)
  6. Well drought gives ya a wake up call. We let all our lawns go. Just have gardeners weed wack after rain (weeds). Our lawn areas are not visible from the street. Don't let us start on Roundup settlement etc. - I could go on forever
  7. The New Yorker caption is "Dishes are forever"
  8. This has been common for years. The idiot is usually one understimulated pesky neighbor. I knew a guy who did his front in native grasses. BUT he was a lauded expert and cowered the authorities into a corner. I had a neighbor who had her compost pile in the driveway. Pumpkins and enormous sunflowers in her front yard. When my cardoons bloomed she collected seed and said she was going to scatter thistle seed on her walks. That might have been a bit much but the plants are beautiful. In our on and off drought it has become quite acceptable. Lawns no longer equal standard or lovely.

So upscale "Rice a Roni" ? Looks good
  10. Ohh I am jealous! My stepmother has on occasion gifted those big juicy ones from the desert (Palm Springs). If too many to use I pile them up in pretty bowls as uplifting house art. Even the bedroom. I've done lemon marmalade. Have not done curd , I've also squeezed juice and saved in ice cube trays and then into plastic bags. I back off on vinegar in general and use wherever acid seems needed. Have fun
  11. Good on the contact. Most I know are super spread about and years can go by but connections remain. Remember when the only contact was thin sorta blue envelopes that told you "from overseas"

    Lunch 2020

@Kim Shook It all looks wonderful. I am no sweets fan but am now lusting after the Tres Leches and a cup of strong coffee
  14. Sadly this year may be more like Dia de Los Muertes I do like the tradition. Very big here in Los Angeles.
  15. ? the decision making, the option selection, or the freakin lockdown in Los Angeles (needed) we have again? Don't know how to do the Spanish inverted question mark to open a question. Always loved that.
  16. Another thing I have noticed in myself is anticipatory decision making, Do I pay more for a lesser amount from the place I get food delivery or do I wait until I can get to a place with decent Asian markets. Screwed myself not getting Huy Fong chili garlic sauce thinking I had some in pantry.- nope! At least I did not do it with fish sauce. Caved to the Thai Kitchen stuff - oh well - one adapts. We are in lockdown again so who knows.
  17. @Kim Shook The beginning of your everlasting cucumber bowl? Like this https://forums.egullet.org/topic/105832-its-cucumber-time-ideas/?do=findComment&comment=1579190
  18. So was the hominy pr-treated in some way or just straight outa can or boiled? I love the stuff but never considered it in a salad type prep. Oh and I have quail envy!
  19. Ack artificial strawbery favoring makes me gag probably cuz son had a bit of an allergy to it as a child (not pretty). To me Halloween is nostalgia so I prefer the standards if indulging. I do like the trend in last (well many) years to the snack or mini versions of standards. I'm thinkin this year will be very very different

Thse egg rolls look plump and nicely fried. With that sauce I always feel the need to add a touch of vinegar. You?
  21. @Shelby @robirdstx I imagine the panic driven hoarding and empty shelves are a response to the intense up-tick in cases.

    Dinner 2020

Yes between spring rolls and burritos the rolling is in my neural pathway.
  23. I was just thinkin if you did not want to over indulge yet satisfy an itch
  24. I find that if people are not green bell pepper fans that jalapenos don't st well either. Chemistry at work. At some point ya feed the compost

I am fairly flexible (stop laughing y'all) but never considered squid as the seafood. On of my favorite seafoods. Thanks for that. As to rolling technique - yours look really good.
