  1. Maybe not in Canada but I'd say the average American considers it the next step up from mother's milk. https://www.chicagotribune.com/dining/ct-mac-and-cheese-on-malia-and-sasha-obama-christmas-list-story.html

    Hot Chocolate

Oh yes with raspberry has to be very dark. A great brownie combo as well.
  3. Hey now - I sent Steven Shaw a box once - no complaints. I had a dream once about their white chocolate dipped toffee w/ toasted coconut on top. Yes I am slightly deranged. Ha just supporting a local biz.
  4. @Shelby hit send before me Not to me but I think it is Southern and often seen when ham is served. Comfort. When it is meat n' 3 the stuff is I think sometimes included.
  5. Not the size of the green pepper thing (yes I detest them) but this adorable little cast iron enamel "pot" flew off the shelf and into my cart at Home Goods several years ago. Turns out it is perfect for garlic. Filled with peeled cloves from Korean market, covered with olive oil, and baked uncovered until spreadable soft. Then the cover tops it and into fridge it goes unless there is fresh bread and it all gets devoured while warm. Ya never know when the perfect fit will happen.
  6. Friends and I have decided on a sip soup all day (interspersed with sweets) New Years. Each of us doing a different good luck type, packing some for freezer to share when we connect in person. So far I am split green pea - kinda covers coin shape and green Plus some ultra white coconut milk - clean slate allusion. Another is doing a blended greens soup with a ham hock stock base. Hock meat to be enjoyed shredded and sprinkled on top. Third is uncertain but leaning to seaweed in miso broth. She is not doing her Japanese traditional dishes this year as no family get together but thinking seaweed speaks to forward thinking climate change awareness.
  7. The technology exists and has been refined over years. Some pretty smart people are not re-inventing the wheel; they are expanding possibilities. https://www.growertalks.com/Newsletters/View/Newsletter/?article=3166
  8. It is Russ and Steve about not soaking beans in general. My lame attempt at humor.
  9. @russ parsons and @rancho_gordo may have a take on the bean bit https://www.latimes.com/food/la-fo-calcook-20141018-story.html

    Breakfast 2020!

Schmutz builds up the immune system. I thought it was my screen as my allergies have me sneezing in this hellish weather. I have not had breakfast yet - looks good.
  11. @IowaDee But here in L.A. you could see the snow on the local mountains and know Snow Summit and Big Bear slopes were just 2 hours away
  12. Why my Aussie niece liked coming to Idaho for Christmas - got to experience every image in the children's books versus sun & summer for Santa.
  13. Chubby ducks but you treated them well. Impressive skin.
  14. To clarify these were the Pekin or the Moulard? Looks pretty tasty.
  15. Scale seems limited. Cost? Cute but financially viable? We buy the potted herbs in major chains like Kroger in the produce aisle and at TJ. Maybe sprouting our own greens at home makes more ecological and financial sense.

    Dinner 2020

All looks like something I would be happy to be at table with and Henry's new toy looks loved. The color on your roasted cauliflower soup is deep! That type of slaw is my indulgence from a packet - I could do it scratch but all the ingredients for $2 on sale...

    Lunch 2020

@KennethT forgot meant to link the Serious Eats piece on the "pancake" smell of fenugreek. Pretty interesting and funny https://www.seriouseats.com/2010/10/spice-hunting-fenugreek-methi-how-to-use.html#:~:text=For Indian cooking%2C fenugreek is,Jemima than curries and kabobs.&text=It's a common ingredient in,alone can be off-putting.
