  1. If he is a regular and he tips, I don't see a problem with serving him. When I ran a business (not a restaurant), I was happy people came back on a regular basis and treated them like family. The regulars paid the bills in the slow season and brought new customers in the busy season. It is sad the servers have become so selective.
  2. I was disappointed that I wasn't able to make it this year, and now I am really disappointed since 90 degree weather is but a dream right now in Canada. I will have to make do with what you guys share with us.
  3. For what it is worth, I found this show on you tube and found it much more entertaining than anything I have seen on the regular cooking shows. I keep checking to see if she gets a real show for herself, but so far this is it!
  4. I hope they rebuild with the same country charm that attracted everyone to the market in the first place. So sad, especially so close to harvest time :-(
  5. Bacon and cheese buns.....yummmmm!!!! Have you tried this before or are you just going to try it at the Eggfest...not that I think it will be disappointing in the least :-)
  6. I have never warmed to schwarma, switching the topic from curries. I have friends who go crazy for them but I find the ones I tried are kinda bland but saucy. I always end up with sauce on my shirt. My friends love it soooo much but I have never warmed up to it.
  7. I like your idea of dessert! Looks delicious!
  8. It just doesn't seem like summer until you two post your adventures :-)
  9. Thanks for posting Kerry. I can't wait to see posts of your Eggfest next!
  10. I think it is good to try new things and if you don't like it, you don't like it, at least you tried it! Being from Northern Ontario though, re-fried beans has always looked tasteless and pasty when I have seen it, and that is usually what it tastes like. I guess I will have to go somewhere that it is made properly in order to give it another try.
  11. Nice sounding filling! I am sure they will be consumed anyway, I know I would scarf a few down if I got some :-) The loaf sounds delicious!!! Are blueberries in season there yet.
  12. Lucky clinic! They were making me crave sausage rolls. My mom called them Pigs in a blanket....figured it was an English thing since her parents were English Folk :-)
  13. Looks like you two are going to get up to some cooking in the kitchen this week! Nice haul....I love the little dishes, can't wait to see what you use them for!
  14. Cool! Planning on planting it back home? I imagine the deer on the island will take a liking to figs :-)
  15. Not a fish eater....you would never have thought that from the amount of Calamari you post over on the Ladies who Lunch thread. Looks like a nice dinner :-)
  16. I have never heard of this pie so I googled it! It is full of all my favourite things so why have I never heard of this pie before! Yum!
  17. Did you get the recipe for the pita from that site too? Never thought of making pita homemade, but it would probably be a lot fresher than the ones you get in the store.
  18. LOL! I just took a few cheese biscuits downstairs to the landlord. I find they taste the best when still warm so decided to share. Thanks for posting the pictures off all the stuff you are making, that is why I got the recipe out again :-)
  19. The site is very interesting and easy to use, but I noticed some of the "Last Inspection" were done in 2010 and 2011. One even listed a 2008 as last inspected. Kinda makes you wonder how reliable the inspections are if they are so old. I would agree that if the restaurant has made an effort to rectify the situation and the old rating is still listed, the business will suffer. So the site is helpful and then again maybe not. Typical government red tape.
  20. Ouch! I have dropped a few things on my foot while in the kitchen at home and think "Why do I not have kitchen shoes for the home Kitchen?" That would be a smart idea but of course at home you never feel that you will need them at home....Of course the home is probably where most accidents happen! Hope it doesn't swell up too much! The bread looks delicious! Wish I could smell it, it looked so good! Did you smoke the cheese yourself?
  21. I cooked for a few weeks for an elderly man while his family was away and I was surprised on how he had his day scheduled around his rather small portioned meal. He ate regular snacks between meals so his dinner portion was small. Oh and he liked to have variety with some set routines. Like Sunday was a Boiled egg for lunch with an apple, never to change, yet the rest of the week it was open to what was in the fridge. Finding out their eating habits would probably be helpful to plan their meals.
  22. Now I have to go out to get some strawberries....what is the Fluff you made with strawberries? It looked interesting.
  23. Looks like I need to head to TNT to stock up on some ingredients but I will definitely have to try this one! Thanks for sharing....and the pictures of the island.
  24. That curry looks tasty, any chance you want to share your recipe?
  25. Better yet! I would like to work in her office, imagine the treats at break time :-) Thanks for sharing Kerry!
