Yahoo!! Shrimp boil! Throw in some fresh corn and new potatoes, and your all set for a messy, yummy, finger-lickin good time.

Snowangel..........words fail me! Man, I love summer! Bruce, fantastic, as usual, I always enjoy the colors in your dishes. Must be in the air, there is a lot of shrimp flying around here!
-
I was taught the same way, and teach my sons also. Gripes need to be aired, but only among those who will understand and treat it as just a way to let off steam. Allways temper your discontent with something nice to add, for yourself as well as the one you are dissapointed in. ETA that sounded preachy, didn't mean to be.

sparrowgrass, That's what I call true FoodPorn! On sooooo many levels... Lovely!

Breakfast! The most important meal of the day (2004-2011)

Percyn, thank you and bless you for this thread! I woke with another of my strange cravings. This morning it's coconut, curry, ginger soup with chicken and shrimp. I don't know if it's a real dish or not, but it sounded good together and was delicious! Hit the spot. -
In a similar, though not so tragic, situation, I found I could not eat for a long time. I would force myself to nibble on something, and gag it down. I would suggest keeping it light in taste and texture, fresh if possible, and easy to grab when you realy don't want to. Small bites. Something loaded with nutrition in a small package. Also, drinks, orange juice, V-8 etc., it can be easier to drink at those times than to eat. Good luck and God Bless your kindness.

I am humbled by your courage and beauty of spirit. All of you that are facing this horrible situation. Thank you, for sharing the wisdom you are gaining with us and may we take it to heart.

Tracy......Hey, look behind you, what's that??!!!!!! *quickly snags the tomato and salt shaker, grinning with glee, beats a path out the door*

Thank you very much! I am a little embaresed about the mac n cheese tho............I made kraft, melted the milk, cream, loads of butter and the package of cheese stuff. Added a handfull each of sharp chedder, mozzerella, med. chedder, and grated parm, dijon mustard, tarragon, basil and pepper. Mixed stale garlic and parm italian bread, with a huge amount of butter for the topping, and baked. I drizzled it afterwards with truffle oil. It tasted way better than is sounds. I hope I am not the only one that cheats with mac n cheese. *sheepish grin* and yes, Shelby, just run out back to the cow and whack a hunk off of his butt for me please!

Fired up the grill, 2' cut sirloin, (a little more done than I like it) shrimp, veggies and mac n cheese. Eynkiora, that avacado looks possitively mouth watering! As do the green beans Shelby! *drooling*

David, thank you! I was doing Everything wrong, no wonder my potatoes tasted so weak and watery.

What to do with left-over Pork Belly? Hmmmmmmmmm, that's a tough one! I couldn't resist flashing the shitake's in the grease. And tomatoes drizzled with the oil. It's beginning to look like I might have a "thing" for breakfast isn't it? Anyone else having this issue? Perhaps there is a support group out there somewhere.................... -
how do I eat my corn?...............with relish! *bada-bing* Yah, it was *corny*, but I couldn't resist. jk With Tons of hot butter, sprinkled with salt, and I just dive into it at it's most vulnerable spot. Messy, randomly and very sloppy. It's just too good to be fussy with!

Bruce, I am blushing....but very pleased with myself! *smug look* I followed guidlines I found on a thread here...scalded, rubbed with 5-spice, crushed chillis, star anise, minced ginger, salt and pepper, rested for 6 hours, hot blast in oven, long lower heat, another hot blast and rested again! It was my first (but definately not my last) taste of pork belly, I am hooked! BTW I LOVE garlic..........that looks amazing!
-
Blixt, Thank you! I am glad to know that I am not the only person that has difficulty making great mashed potatoes.....

My first try at Pork Belly tonight. It was sinfully delicious! Now, I am off to work off some of that fat I just gleefully ingested!

The Arkansas Traveler is doing great, tall and bushy with lovely little green tomatoes just tempting me like crazy! I haven't tasted one yet, but am told they have a great old-fashioned deep tomatoey taste. (causing myself to drool just thinking about it) The first thing I allways ask, even at the farmstands is if the tomato has ever been refrigerated. You can tell, it truly ruins the taste, what is left of it anyhow. I love home canned tomatoes, all winter long, just pop open a jar and eat them with a fork and salt, sometimes a squeeze of lemon juice. I even on occasion, just heat them in a pan on the stove and enjoy them like fresh soup, nothing but salt, pepper and maybe lemon and oo. I am soooooooo craving this now, but sadly exhausted my supply long ago.

Check out this link, there are 235 varieties here. Which ones are you growing? What is your absolute favorite one? I LOVE tomatoes, eat them like candy when I can, fresh from the vine with a sprinkle of salt. Yummmmm! I am currently growing this year Red Zebra, Lemon Boy, Cherokee Chocolate, Brandywine, Beefsteak, Arkansas Traveler, and Supersweet 1000. I haven't decided which is my alltime favorite, but do prefer heirlooms to hybrids. Loads of Tomatoes

I might be easier for me to list what I Don't like! Start with a crisp grilled bun, medium-rare burger for me also. Please don't put..........ketchup, american cheese, bbq sauce or anything sweet on my burger. My fave might be plain, with just good mayo and sliced onion. But I also love it loaded with the usuals and will try almost anything once, and have found that I like unusual toppings also. Jalepenos, avacado, grilled mushrooms and onions, lots of different kinds of cheeses, horseradish, wasabi, most veggies, crispy lettuce, sprouts, and the list could go on forever! I even had one once fixed with a kimche topping, it was actually good for a change of pace. I guess that makes me pretty easy to please.

A dirty, tired truckfull of hungry teen boys returned home this morning from camping. A hearty breakfast was in order. Sausage gravy with biscuits and eggs. -
Wish I had had money on that!!! None were great, but for some reason, still unknown to me, I liked Amy better.
