Annecros, I am impatiently waiting..................Please let us know all about it, the taste, texture, euphoria level, etc. For all of us who have never tasted one of those beauties and dream of it. *sigh*

Coastie, that is my home turf as well, I grew up outside of Fairbanks. I noticed the mispronunciations as well, but given the odd names of everything, and difficult accent, I had to cut him some slack. I giggled at the "Eskimo Kisses" as well. But, that makes T.V. I suppose. I actually enjoyed re-living my childhood while watching the sled-dogs and dressing the ptarmigan in the field.

Breakfast! The most important meal of the day (2004-2011)

Homegrown breakfast, I love this time of year! The egg is fresh from the back yard, ham from my neighbors pig, as well as the cantalope. -
Wow, everyone is so organized. My spice cabinet is Such a mess, I am shamed and jealous. But, When I need something, I know right where it is in this jumble of seasonings. I had always believed that spices needed to be kept in a dark place away from heat, but it seems most on this thread are kept in the open. Am I incorrect?

I have to agree Soup. The execs must be reading this forum! He seems to be interacting with locals and hosts more personally, delving a little more deepy into the cultures, and being just a bit more respectfull. He grows on you I guess, kind of like a stray cat. He is no AB, but improving. I like him, and I will keep watching.

You're welcome, nonblonde007. I have more stories than the above post. My cousin was a regular jungle boy and lived off the land. A skill he learned from a mountain tribe(Ita). Some of the things he ate were just way out there for me. He ate beetles, frogs, leaves even fruits that I have never ever see anywhere else. ← That sounds like a great new topic!!! Please start one, I am sure that everyone would enjoy reading and adding to it. I would! Sorta like AB, or Zimmerman, What are your odd food explorations.

That is the vietnameese name for the drink, I think. I found it searching msn for the drink recipe. It should show 3 links, each will take you to the recipe. ETA......I notice you are from New Orleans, that is where I first tried the drink at Pho Bang!

Percyn, WOW! C. Spidus, the green curry sounds so fresh and delicious. Ktepi, thinking along similar lines this morning, great looking bread. I had some left-over fajitas from a few nights ago, so of course, it became breakfast. Don't know what you would call it but it was yummy! And, must have the yolky porn shot! -
Wendy, that drink sounds so good right now! Yes, I did cut up the squid, it realy is easy and so much better fresh that way.
-
There is nothing as beautiful and delicious as fresh egg yolk running down over anything! Check out the breakfast thread, loads of ideas for enjoying those amazing yolks.

Dinner and a Movie.........Greek night! We do this at least once a month, I love theme nights! Tonight it was My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Gyros deconstructed, (forgot the bread) and calamari w/butter, lemon and capers. SobaAddict70, I can smell that bacon from here!

I have no idea what it was, no footprints. It even ate my marigolds! I thought everything hated Marigolds. There are all sorts of critters around here, but what would Dare come up on the deck? Not eating my Beefsteak............That's what realy ticked me off! Like viva said, it had Better eat what it steals! I guess it's farmers market again for me this year. *sigh*

Thank you Shelby, that was the last of my tiny tomatoes. Thank you also for your condolances at the loss of all my babies.
-
I went out to water my tomatoes this morning........All 14 of my babies were gone! I mean, actually Gone! Something ate them down to nothing but a small nub sticking out of the soil, I container planted on the deck this year, just for that reason, and they were all so lush and beautifull, even had some ripening. And the worst, whatever it was didn't like the taste of my beefsteak and just left it's poor body laying on the deck. I realy feel like crying right now, but I won't. I am getting Revenge! Taking out the bb gun and I am going to sit and wait........*evil angry mother grin*

You know how sometimes you just stumble onto something that is sooooo good that it suprises you? That happened to me today! I toasted some roasted garlic Italian bread, rubbed with fresh garlic, spread a bit of mayo on it, sliced avacado, S&P, Olive oil, lime juice, diced jalepenio pepper, and cilantro. OMG! It was Just Amazing tasting! Course, could be just the time of month for me?!..........But, I don't think so. Add fresh from the vine tiny tomatoes and ., how could it be wrong!?

Ohhhhhhhhhh yyyyuuuuuuuuummmmmmm!!!! The "guts" are my favorite part, I can almost taste that now...

I recently read a study done that showed the lobster doesn't feel pain. The "kicking and screaming" actions are supposed to be a fight or flight reaction, purely instinct to preserve it's life. Something about no pain receptors. I will try to find the link to the science article for you and post it here.
