My friend who follows tabloid news sent me this tidbit because she knows I'm a Mario fan. I highlighted the good parts. I wonder if they'll be cooking or just travelling and eating.

Gwyneth Paltrow is putting Hollywood on hold to film her own TV cookery show, it was revealed.

Although it's not too clear who will tune into a cookery show for Gwyneth's Paltrow's tips.

But the cooking extravaganza, which is being made by American channel PBS, kicks off in October as Gwynnie and Mario take to the Spanish roads.

The actress, 34, is a famously fussy eater and has been ridiculed in the past for her bizarre and strict diet regimes.

They have ranged from strictly macrobiotic to Atkins to vegetarian-who-eats-fish diets. She still doesn't eat pork or beef, but is willing to sample other delicacies for the show. Gwyneth claimed: "I eat all that [spanish] stuff. The crazy fish things, the eels, I love it all." What about the Iberico ham and cold meats?

The TV programme will pay homage to a country where Paltrow spent many childhood summers.

It will also give her a chance to offer America a look at Spanish cooking. Channel 4 and ITV are currently in a bidding war to win the rights to show the programme over here.

A source said: "This is so far removed from what Gwyneth is used to that the show is sure to be a ratings winner. It can't fail.

One wonders if there's a macrobiotic recipe for disaster...

"Even if it's proper car-crash TV it will be entertaining at least

  2. I expected Tre to be there longer but now that I think about it he's had more misses than hits. He even acknowledged his faults and he left with class. He said he could make bread pudding in his sleep. He didn't mention it wouldn't be good.

But CJ really threw Tre over and under the bus with his comments.

    I'll miss the guns.

On the other hand Hung seems to have checked his ego and bounced back. He was a machine breaking down those chickens.

I could totally whoop Caseys a$$ at onion dicing.

I KNEW Stephen would be the sommelier-I don't know why the cheftestants were so suprised. I mean who else could it be?

Note to Bravo-please don't show Madonnas brother again.

And another thing-how come in every season no chef ever has a decent dessert? You'd think, knowing they were going on the show, they'd brush up on pastry!

Is it me or did they really take her opinion into account more than their own?

I couldn't decide who to send home either given the failure on all sides.

But I was worried they were going to send 2 home.

When has anyone ever seen scented candles in a restaurant? WTF were they thinking? And Dale has front of the house experience!

I think Howie made the worst dish. If he had been on Hells Kitchen, where they're always messing up risotto, he would have been wearing it.

Tre knew his potatoes were bad yet used them anyway. Couldn't he have salvaged a little bit of them?

  4. Note to Hung: Yeah any monkey can put fruit in ice cream but at least it tastes good.

I like sriracha on a lot of things but ice cream probably isn't one of them.

After a night of drinking people want carbs and fat. Not raw seafood.

Tre's grits(and guns!) looked awesome and Ted was right when he said bacon makes people happy.

That team was having fun compared to the other team who seemed to be pouting because they didn't get to go out. I knew they weren't and they should have too. If it sounds too good to be true...

And putting ice in a milkshake? That will not bring all the boys to the yard.

I'm getting tired of Howies tantrums and insults. He doesn't work well with others and he's annoying.

  5. KristiB50: Yay, more larb! Do you prefer chunks to ground/minced?

I like it minced but do prefer the larger pieces.

I just love larb! And I have three ways of making it now

  6. As soon as they started cooking, and said the pasta was mushy, I knew he was gone.

Loved the quickfire...but hated the camerawork.  I'd like to play at home, but these side-angled shots don't help.

Bowtie pasta. What else was someone going to call it?

    Farfalle?

  7. I made the Shan style Pork Larb from Hot Sour Salty Sweet.

I cut my meat into chunks instead of grinding it. It's quite spicy and it's stir fried with a paste rather than poached like the other larb in the book.

    Boy was it ever good!

  8. That's a Thai eggplant not Chinese eggplant CJ!

I thought I'd hate the episode when I heard what the challenge was but I actually enjoyed it.

I think Howie, Hung or Sara M should have gone. I thought it was funny CJ called Hung a douche.

And none of the chefs respected Rocco. And Rocco's face! Bad bad bad plastic surgery!!

I laughed when Howie said “Nah, tricolor fusili is so tacky and schlocky,” then they cut to Joey saying “Let's use tricolor fusili.”

  9. Bravo has been advertising this Wednesday (Aug 1) episode as a "Super Sized" Top Chef. According to my cable guide that means it's an hour and 15 minutes instead of the usual one hour. Just wanted to let people know -- in case you're planning to tape it

  10. The Weight Watchers cookbooks are good and geared towards home cooks who may not have a lot of skill. I like Weight Watchers Simply the Best which is a collection of member favorites. It has a variety of ethnic food.

I also like The South Beach Cookbook although I never did the diet. The recipes focus on veggies, healthy protein and whole grains.

  11. Oh geez a reunion show already?

    Best Parts:

LeeAnn looked beautiful and she defended Marcel

    Lia looked beautiful

Tom being embraced by the bear community was funny(I didn't know what it was either)

The faux judges table-"why does your beef taste like beef?" "you had 30 seconds"

    Tim Gunn!

Padma has the biggest appetite and looks enormous mid-season(where?)

I liked when Harold basically called Micah an idiot for never watching the show before going on. I call bullsh*t. I'll bet she's one of those faux, "I never watch TV" snobs who has 2 TiVos and can name every contestant on the Real World.

Oh and her, "I was explaining that Americans like ketchup on their meatloaf like Indians put chutney with their curry,". Then Padma comes back with, "uh no...we don't"

I hope we never have to see Ilan again. I dislike him even more.

  12. Hm, I see a lot of lime leaves & lemongrass references...I'm surprised!  Just curious, does the HSSS recipe call for lime leaves & lemongrass?  I don't have the book, but I'm about to order it right now.

The HSSS ingredients are as follows:

1 lb boneless skinless chicken breast and/or thighs chopped or sub ground chicken

1/4 cup thinly sliced shallots separated into rings

1 or 2 dried red Thai chiles stemmed and chopped

    1/4 cup fresh lime juice

    3 TBS Thai fish sauce

    1/2 tsp sugar

1/4 cup packed Vietnamese coriander(rau nam) leaves or substitute mint or regular corriander torn.

3 Tbs of roasted rice powder

    lettuce or Savoy cabbage

    3-4 scallions chopped

  13. Is anyone else watching the new episodes?

That restaurant in Spain- I'd be hitting the British food too if that were my alternative.

I couldn't believe the guy cooked kabobs a day ahead of time. And Ramsays expression when he saw the swinging presentation was priceless.

I had to laugh when Gordon turned the prawns and chocolate and chicken stuffed with bananas into smoothies.

  14. Does anyone know where I could find a picture of the finished dish? I haven't seen the movie and probably won't be able to for a while but I'd love to see Remy's Ratatouille !

THIS blogger made the dish(look for the July 17 post). The animated version looks a lot better but his looks tasty too.

  15. Ohhh that's right.

OK but since then we've had what-4 women in a row?

I'm not saying they didn't deserve to go. Especially the disaster that was Micah. I'm just wondering why women don't seem to be as strong contenders as men?
