  1. I also enjoyed Take Big Bites: Adventures Around the World and Across the Table by Linda Ellerbee
  2. Hi Genny! Remember me from your old supper club? We love Tapino! You should also try Radda in the same complex. We've never had a bad meal there. Also if you want to venture up to Carefree, Bodega has excellent tapas.
  3. The best food fiction book I've read is The Last Chinese Chef by Nicole Mones. The descriptions of food are astounding. Nose to Tail Eating by Fergus Henderson is probably my most interesting cookbook I've never cooked from. The Hungry Planet: What the World Eats by Peter Mezel. I still pull it out and read it on occasion.
  4. Thanks this will be great help!! My coworker has a couple of prolific pomegranate trees and she always brings me several grocery bags of them at a time becaue I once mentioned I like them. I think I know about every pom recipe out there.

    I'm a fraud

Bottled ginger. Sometimes I'll mince or grate my own but sometimes I'm lazy about it. Also, with bottled you don't get the "cat hair" effect. Jarred roasted peppers. Velveeta for my mac and cheese Trader Joes frozen garlic. There was a time when I was having a hard time finding a decent head of garlic. I also bought the frozen basil, cilantro and parsley but I've never used them.

    Dinner! 2007

Salmon with Sakay and Cucumber Sambal from Marcus Samuelssons Soul of a New Cuisine cookbook. Very tasty! It looks like a big dinner but it's on a salad plate
  11. I've seen a few of the shows and like it. The Thomas Keller one was my favorite. Even the Cat Cora one was interesting and I rarely watch her when she's on ICA.
  12. The contestants said they watched the show so I think it ended some time ago and they had to wait to see who won? Rocco to Hung: "we should open a restaurant together. Then Tony won't know who's the better chef." Dale called Todd English his "Prep Bitch" Casey fell apart. I think, based on those dishes the right chef won.
  13. Someone on TWOP described Hung perfectly: "Hung likes to cook but he doesn't like to feed people."
  14. Keckler, the reviewer @ TWOP: ← LMAO!! Just as I thought! And I'm pretty sure she had some wake and bake that morning.
  15. Did anyone else notice the picture on page 8 of Tony's blog? Padma must have had a long day...
  16. There's no way the cheftestants were woken up "by surprise" for the Quickfire Challenge. There's no way they got all that food and equipment into the apartment without waking them up, and there's NO WAY those boys just hopped right out of bed not sporting what boys usually sport in the morning. And Padma likes alchohol!! She got the chance to pimp her new cookbook, Tangy, Tart, Hot and Sweet, the title of which sounds a lot like my favorite cookbook Hot Sour Salty Sweet by Jeffrey Alford. Hung is still dangerous in the kitchen. Idiot needs to slow down and clean up after himself. Or slow down and not break bottles and drop food on the floor. I thought it was an interesting challenge. I was also suprised so many chose fish. I was also suprised Casey chose veal because it's usually pretty lean. I have a hard time believing the broccolini was the absolute worst dish of all the seasons. Tom sure is a Mr. Cranky pants this season!

  18. Fame really is fleeting. For the life of me, I can't remember which one was Josie. ← picture HERE I didn't remember her until I saw her.
  19. A season 2 contestant in the news: Ex-`Top Chef' contestant is attacked SEA CLIFF, N.Y. - A former contestant on Bravo's "Top Chef" was beaten by attackers yelling anti-gay slurs, her lawyer said. Josie Smith-Malave, who was featured on the second season of the reality show, was among a small group of women who were asked to leave a Sea Cliff bar over Labor Day weekend, lawyer Yetta Kurland said Tuesday. About 10 young people followed the women and began screaming anti-gay epithets, spitting on them and then beating them, Kurland said. Smith-Malave, who is in her early 30s, is openly gay, Kurland said. Nassau County police said they were investigating, but declined to provide details of the incident. Smith-Malave, a Miami native, is a former sous-chef for Marlow and Sons restaurant in Brooklyn. She has played for the New York Sharks of the Independent Women's Football League. 21. How about Rocco and Bourdain?
  22. Is Gwyneth Jewish? That might explain why she won't eat the ham...
  23. Hung's candyland quick fire reminded me of the magic mushroom village Michael made last season Can't believe Howie served nothing. On to elimination. Tom tells them every week, "Enough with the raw tuna!" And every week someone trots it out. Ever notice Brian doesn't cook? Hungs was retro. I've had those. Not bad bad but he could have been more creative As far as Howies elimination goes I think he gave up after the quickfire and that's why he was getting along with everyone. Padma's pants are getting tighter. She had an unfortunate wardrobe tonight. Bourdain is back next week!
  24. I like my Alton Brown salt Cellar too. I also have the Mario Batali magnetic measuring spoons. They stay stacked together in my drawer and I can pull out one at a time instead of all the spoons on a ring. The color is fug though. Avacado green.
