  1. I finally noticed that this show will on today on PBS (at least in Atlanta) at 4:30.
  2. WSB's news report (video) Jermaine Dupri's Buckhead restaurant is closing. I've never heard anything about the food (that can't be good for business), but his mom -- the manager -- blames the employees and says they should've worked harder. This is after their paychecks started bouncing, and they tried to get them to sign non-disclosures a few weeks ago. Classy!
  3. Dunkin' Donuts to Offer Healthier 'DDSmart' Menu http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,394288,00.html
  4. Smart -- get him out of the kitchen, and let him interact with people. I just hope that his first stop isn't to a smoker or bbq. Another food travel show! Yippee!
  5. There's some more here http://forums.egullet.org/index.php?showto...hl=batali+spain It was on about a year ago, but not on my local PBS station.
  6. Well, it was only a 4 show commitment...
  7. I just moved from Dunwoody, and couldn't find a convenient farmer's market. Where is this one? Now that I'm closer to 285/75, I know I have some better options.
  8. Tom Colicchio was on the Today Show this morning. He said that they had been filming in NYC for the next season. The current episode's challenge was "to create a dish for the Today Show". The 13 remaining chefs' dishes were whittled down to 3 by the judges, which Tom presented (we never saw the chefs). I'd explain the dishes in more detail, but there wasn't much, and I couldn't overhear 4 women talking at once with their mouths full. The winner was a caprese salad (that may have had watermelon, but again, I couldn't hear); the other two dishes were a cabbage roll with chicken and sumac (which Meredith hated) and sesame-encrusted seared tuna. They didn't seem terribly original, but I don't know the exact parameters of the challenge. I'm sure, since Top Chef 5 is filming in NYC, we'll see plenty of Bravo/NBC tie-ins.
  9. Meaning that she didn't want the secret out, was so excited, or she had an allergic reaction?
  10. I do -- I think I've heard that after every reality show, and it usually is the last time you see them And how could I forget to mention -- did Gordo have enough makeup on?
  11. tsure, that's where I believe the first one is, too. I dropped by one in Chamblee, GA (part of Atlanta) Friday at lunchtime and the place was quite busy. The food was on par with the original ones.
  12. I'm happy for Aaron -- I think he had the most to gain from winning this. But of all three, his show was the one I am least likely to watch. Good move by FN to get his show up and running ASAP. I just hope he isn't on that fugly RR set.
  13. The Charleston Post & Courier just had an article, as well.
  14. You had the Poulet de Bresse, or what we're trying to copy with, the blue foot chicken -- something I only recently found out about because it was on Iron Chef. I wish I had known about it before, when I lived over there...
  15. From my untrained eye, it looked like milk chocolate was used on the show.
  16. No marmite? Vegemite?

    Menu Input

I'll second that. My first impressions is ACK! Too much!
  18. You mean Charleston, right? Are you looking for restaurants in Charleston or Kiawah? There are quite a few on Charleston.
  19. Greece: Ouzo
  20. Interesting that he was recently on their South Beach (the event, not the diet) show...
  21. Or made with Kumquat liquor? I picked up a bottle of this bright orange stuff in Corfu...
  22. I'll second that, or perhaps tequila with sangrita. The only thing that I can come up with for Spain is the callimocho (red wine & coke) or sangria. France? Pernod?
  23. Thanks -- that's a question I had been meaning to ask. Now that I've moved into a house, I've got more room for new stuff (but less $!). Greene's was fantastically cheap in Columbia SC, but not here...

    Summer Peach Salad

I just tried to google it -- and this post if the first item The only thing that I could think of was melba toast, and that didn't sound appetizing.
