no, sweetie, not really. just do what i do when i give the recipe as a present - get one of those airline sized bottles. i ususally gove a handwritten copy of the recipe, a tiny bottle of the booze and some really, really good chocolate chipped up and already premeasured - scharfenberger or valhrona. this is the easiest i can make. i DO NOT do cookies - don't have the patience but will do brownies or bar cookies. hang in there and remember the purple pony is your friend.

in dover have you tried Fred's? it's on the main drag - east blackwell street. i've used them off and on for years. since i am in sparta more often i use jerry's seafood in the theatre plaza. go tuesdays or thursdays since those are the days they hit fulton up. always tends to have various size shrimps as well as sole, flounder and haddock. have also gotten orange roughy, char, smelts, trout, halibut, alaska salmon as well as white salmon. they also make seafood soups, crab puffs, crab cakes, smoked salmon, and stuffed clams. enjoy the search

yeah- saw the release info about 4 months ago. it is on my radar and have submitted my request for purchase( it is soooooo cool working for a library). i fully expect to be cring my way throug this book. there was another title that was released last month about the last flight of the shuttle - sorry i'm senioring on the title. i'm on the waiting list at work. i as actually in the screening of apollo 13 and was laughing hysterically when they said "failure is not an option" since johnnybird was in the middle of horrible stress designing safety features into something the army would not build (wasting 10 years of peoples time and millions of taxpayers dollars - editorial on my part) and this was their mantra. while i appreciate and revere the early scientists at nasa since columbia when the safety guys were poo-pooed for the sake of the schedule (feynman was not a nice guy but a phenom at debunking bs in the upper levels of admin)i don't trust the upper levels of management

OH MY GOD everyone here in the library now thinks i'm crazy i was laughing so loud. especially funny to me since i am a hawker and love turkey vultures(buzzards) who use projectile vomiting as a defense mechanism. course remember what they eat and that roadkill has to be ripe enough for them to get into it since they don't have the bill or talon strength of other birds of prey. course we call roadkill in our house t.v. dinners

i really enjoyed Hardtack to Homefries, especially the chapter on the FDR's - or should i say Eleanor's - cook. my god no wonder they served the king and queen of england hotdogs at hyde park. we used to use 1 pound coffee cans growing up to do our brown bread

thanks holly. will check out your site. no custard for either of us i'm afraid - john would be in a fetal position crying after an hour or so and i would be hanging out in one of those places with the crescent moon on the door. i am hoping to get my fill of bbq, though

husband - the engineer - set up the itinerary based on how far he wants to drive per day. thanks all for the suggestions and keep them coming. i'm compiling a list to take with us.

just finished laurie colwin's "home cooking" and have "more home cooking" on order with interlibrary loan. oh my god - what a wonderful book. i was laughing hysterically at some of the things and reading them aloud to my culinarily challenged workmates. i can't wait to get more... finished "booty food" jacqui malouf's book - eh. half realtionships, half recipes and advice about condoms read the wine pairing book that amy zavatto helped write(she's from the same small town i am and i knew her dad and mom growing up). interesting with some great interviews with rick moonen, daniel bouloud, and others. definitly a bias towards european red wines. would have liked to see more stuff with the new world wines. and finally i have been assigned "to kill a mocking bird" to read since i have successfully avoided it for 49 1/2 years. then i am to report on it on another forum.

hmmm... when we were going through a bad patch after18 years of marriage and thinking about breaking up permanently i couldn't eat. no appetite, didn't want to drink(and for anyone who knows me that says a lot - i love my champers). first went to counseling - it helped when i did start to feel a bit better i remember eating soft, creamy things - soy yoghurt, cottage cheese, butterscotch pudding, scrambled eggs. i ate a lot of scrambled eggs and toast. and worked out. i was in the gym daily and on days off i did an extra hour or so. keep positive though that is probably the hardest thing - should i make the chocolate chip cookies to send to you?

johnnybird loves these just got him 20 tins at our local cvs on sale for 1.00 per tin

late lunch so i wasn't that hungry got some turkey medallions on "managers special"so i sauteed them in some olive oil. put them on some cooked spaghetti, made a sauce with basil, sage, oregano, capers and white wine. poured over the turkey and pasta. baked for 20 minutes. served with a salad. made for tomorrow's dinner(working till 9) at the same time baked beans with chutney and mustard and venison hot dogs.
-
yeah what he says but i also use about 2 thick slices of bacon cut into lardons and try them out so the fat from the bacon sears the breast skin and fat and the lardons are later added back to the finished dish - or used in a salad frisee to go with the duck

good questions which night do you prefer to eat out? if any(and i prefer to eat out for lunch) it would be sunday if i have been working till 5. i then don't have to come home and figure out what to make. i work till 9 2 days a week and till 7 one. the other three are days i'm off or finish at 3 so i have time to work on something fabulous to feed johnnybird drinking.... no real difference since the most i will have out is one drink unless john is driving. i'm too afraid of a dwi. ususally it is a beer with lunch or a glass of champagne/sprarkling wine for dessert. i do like byos but since i don't drink that much out it doesn't really affect my choices alone or with others actually i enjoy eating just by myself and last night was the first time i remember eating out with another couple. ususally if we are eating with anyone else it is john's family for some birthday celebration. how far will we drive? how far is an american grill from lake hopatcong? seriously about 30-45 minutes

torakris do you use tinned tuna or fresh you cook? inquiring minds want to know

waiting for johnnybird to get home(he said he would be home by 6pm est - it is now 633 - like i should be surprised?) he has declared one day a week should be vegetarian so tonight is it. he leaves for skiing sunday so i made extra so he can take stuff with him to eat: a choice of penne with roasted butternut squash, shallots and sage or rigatoni with red pepper, onion, capers and basil both are finished with freshly greated pecorino romano salad of baby greens dessert is a compote of mango and blood orange enjoy all!!!
