That is simply a great recipe, and your preparation looks wonderful.

I can't resist: Benjamin Franklin said "Fish and visitors stink in three days." McDonald's Filet-o-Fish Sandwich stinks from a block away. ← Anne, clever! If the puzzle comes from Sandy and there's at least one clear connection to be made to Philadelphia, you KNOW his adopted city is involved. I'm clueless, myself. ← Franklin is obviously a well known Philadelphian, but gosh, you can tell when they fry the Filet-O-Fish a mile away!

Hehe. Or anything that was not... Big bunch of omnivores.

Nah, nothing in mind on that one. Honestly, entirely random. I understand, and as far as I can tell no one would be penalized points in the middle of the game, and much creativity would go into a convoluted six step solution. I need time to digest and think things and the implications through so please be patient. I do need to consult with Janet, as well. She has the major responsibility of keeping track of the score and has performed admirably. We'll hear from her in a few hours. It really is important to us that everyone have fun.

Oh gosh yes it is! In the South in particular. Every time there is a BBQ, I would suspect. Every time a pot of grits is cooked, I'm sure. Every tortilla and slice of cornbread. Every turkey wrap with extra tomato. Every time cornmeal is used to keep a pizza crust from sticking. Every time a squash is baked. Huge influence.

Horsemeat and turkey: butcher shops vs resto menus

I have something to say on that but it’s better left to the Asian Forum. ← I know, I know. But, I would rather not know... -
Agreed. But the term looked good in an advertisement. I think fusion has honestly gone the way of paradigm, as shifts are concerned.
-
My bad. Am dividing my attention between an active email box and the thread this morning. Will correct, and thank you.
-
I had thought that the term "fusion" had become tried and trite over the last couple of years anyway. I do see it advertised less as an attraction for any particular restaurant. Perhaps I am reading the wrong mags. I would not discount warfare among the big melders of cuisine, either. To the victor goes the spoils. In a contemporary illustration, looking at my own family, my husband's stepfather was from Southwest Georgia (US) and married a young German woman and adopted her son. My son-in-laws father was Italian-American, stationed in Japan, and brought his young Japanese wife home to New Jersey. I can guarantee you there was quite a bit of fusion going on at those dinner tables, where cultures clashed and ingredients from different cuisines were brought together in a deliberate manner in order to produce something entirely different that everyone in the household could find palatable. Sometimes with more success, than others.

Horsemeat and turkey: butcher shops vs resto menus

Bambi and Thumper certainly aren't safe in the US either - much less lovely quail and dove. But horse meat just isn't "done" and honestly I would have trouble with it. Bo Derek (a B-List actress and avid meat eater) felt so strongly about it that she spearheaded a group to ban EXPORT of horse meat to Europe and Asia, and is half way there with legislation passed in the House and still pending in the Senate. http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2006/10...0615.shtml?s=ic I've never knowingly eaten horse meat, nor have I ever knowingly eaten dog. It feels like the same sort of "companion" animal issue to me, and sort of a short step from cannibalism. Now, the USDA has no problem with horse meat, properly inspected of course: http://www.igha.org/USDA.html We have had a problem in Central Florida recently concerning horses and meat. A family pet horse called "Snowdrift" or "Snowball" or something was butchered in a field in the dead of night and the prime cuts were taken. Whoever butchered Snowdrift knew what they were doing, and the sherriff's department is hard on the trail, suspecting Carribbean immigrants. I am not sure what will happen to the horses that are sold for slaughter when those slaughterhouses get shut down. Now turkey, I put it away over the holidays and love a good turkey sandwich! -
Good Morning, and wow Pontormo! That was a great engine starter to go with my first cup of coffee. And ChefAZ, I think you are right with the Tennyson puzzle. Hey Janet, and Good Morning to you!
-
There is an awful lot of collagen to break down here. I would suggest a pressure cooker, if you have one. It's been years since I have eaten them. I don't know why, they are cheap and plentiful in my area. I think my grandmother also deep fried them, but you are looking for a braise. She used a pressure cooker for about 30 minutes then simmered an hour or two until tender, refrigerated, then spiced them up and served them cold. But like I said, it has been years.
-
That's interesting, and I believe Janet and I have discussed it at one point. Do you have something in mind that is easily communicated and sets straightforward standards? It could add a fun twist to the game, but I am concerned that it might overcomplicate things for the players. I will edit and correct the spelling. Copy and paste tends to keep typos alive.
