Tasty dinner prepared by Anna - pork tenderloin with a pan sauce (wine, shallots, mustard, cream), and the CSO cooked potatoes.

Brought along 3 bananas that were too ripe even for me to eat - so my first offering to the ER for my on call today is banana bread. No nuts in there unfortunately. I think we'll need a trip to Sudbury Costco to get some that aren't rancid.

We seem to be back in business for now - it was a matter of replacing a cable between the modem and the router and then turning them on and off with our tongue held firmly between our teeth!

Candle was to flame the orange rind.

The cocktail tonight is the premade Brothers Perryman. I haven't totally unpacked the liquor cabinet yet. Anna's in the kitchen smoking hash - wait let me try that again – Anna is in the kitchen with smoking beef fat cooking hash - and by that I mean beef hash.

Mine was a bacon, cheese a tomato sandwich - bread toasted in CSO. Had to make the mayo before I could assemble the sandwich.

Be patient with us today - we are having serious internet issues - we will try to post each little gap in the blackout we are given!

Fork works well for frizzy hair I've found too!

So I wish to save myself an experiment - so I'm going to throw this out there. Do you really have to put the bread in the side that says 'one slice'? Will the world end if you don't? Will the toast not toast if you don't? Clearly I foolishly follow the rules and up until now haven't questioned this. Anna made her one piece of toast this am on that side, and I toasted the rug rats slice on that side. What is going to happen if I buck convention?

Yesterday's grocery shop - Anna wanted to wake me up in the middle of the night last night to tell me I had forgotten to post!

My watch strap broke yesterday - I've brought 4 watches with me that apparently all need batteries - one of which I hope can be pressed into service to replace the Omega that I was given for my 16th birthday until I can get it's metal bracelet repaired/replaced. So my island time is via cell phone for now. It will take me a couple of days to slow down to island time - I nearly bit the head of the girl in the grocery store when she threw my avocado towards the packing area - I told her to keep it - once she'd bashed it around I wasn't going to pay for it. Then she proceeded to manhandle the rest of my groceries. I suggested to her that she was being a bit rough with stuff - but that had no effect on her behavior. I shall avoid her in future!

It is indeed always fun! Not actually a summer break - I come up here to work - but it's kind of liked paid vacation. Weather here today is about 25º C, sunny and a bit windy.

Herself is enjoying a grilled cheese with hoisin sauce as there does not appear to be any ketsup We are waiting for the gas Bbq to heat up for our nice sirloin. My buddy Bob who is a butcher cut us a couple of decently thick ones.

so the closet contained barrel aged Negroni and Brothers Perryman I'm guessing somebody remembers from the last time. We liberated some ice from the hospital and both decided to go for a Negroni

How sad is this - no bacon in site! eggs better done than in the Westin though.

I suspect it is not destined to happen! Looks like breakfast this morning will be whatever the Homewood Suites has on offer.

Well here I am back in Fort Wayne - wake up in the am in NYC - off to sleep in Fort Wayne. Can you say culture shock! The airplanes got smaller and smaller - it was a puddle jumper that dropped me here. Quite late I decided to find something to eat - there is a place next door called Naked Tchopstix - sadly closed at 10 - the precise time I showed up! Wendy's drive though it was. No picture taken - looked like a grilled chicken sandwich!

Maybe you and Tri2Cook should run with this! I'm spending enough time at trade shows these days and I don't think this would lend itself to the same venues.

Skipped jb prince and headed back to the fancy food show big honking thing of truffles neat machine - extrudes puffs and cuts soccer was on - there was an Italian pavilion nearby

Think the Canadian coupon is still good

I think you might have actually enjoyed the eggplant thingy! Shame about the bread! Anna - our mission, if we choose to accept it - is to come up with a sous vide preparation for something (perhaps a cut of meat he won't normally touch) that Franci's husband has to admit is better than not sous vide. It's got to be one of those where it is more than the sum of it's parts I think.

Practice, practice, practice This evening after the Fancy Food show I headed out to @Franci's in Brooklyn. She and her hubby put together a lovely spread - some wonderful foccacia to start. Lamb's tongues. Sweet breads. Picanha and chuck eye. Baba ganouche Grilled zucchini and spring onions. Stir fried bok choy with mushrooms. Dessert - one of @Franci's wonderful pistachio cakes that she reclaimed from the store selling it and a tart accompanied by roasted apricots. Prosecco to start, a lovely pinot (Expression 38 I believe) to follow and a cup of tea with dessert. Took a wrong turn coming off the subway on my return home - which rewarded me with this view celebrating the big pride parade today.
