  1. It's one egg - I'm not too careful copying recipes! We also had stewed rhubarb as the most frequent preparation. But it was dessert not a side dish.

Add soda to dates and rhubarb and pour over boiling water. Cool to RT. 2. Cream shortening with sugars, beat in eggs. Add dry ingredients and stir in rhubarb mixture. 3. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes for muffins, 9 by 9 pan for 40 to 50 minutes.
  3. Cappelletti with leftover chicken maryland, fire roasted tomato, garlic, onion, splash of sherry vinegar, cream, butter - crisped up skin of said chicken maryland and basil from the garden. Garnished with parmesan. In our new bowls!
  4. Paradise Cocktail - Gary Regan's version thanks to frogprincess way back when on our first cocktail novice thread. Ran out of Beefeater - used about half an ounce of Genever in two drinks. Added a nice malty tone
  5. Leftovers for me for lunch
  6. Perhaps we could get @Alleguedeto Canpar up a baguette? I'm sending back half the diapers by Canpar as I didn't think this through logically and just reject the shipment that came to the post office.
  7. Ah "Shelby" fries! She couldn't remember where she saw the method apparently. "Shelby" fries
  8. Think I've posted it before - will see if I can find it when I get back home.
  9. Rhubarb date cake and muffins
  10. Have done the paper towel thing in the past. Not sure if it's been mentioned before - I have the patience of a gnat!
  11. Chicken Marylands cooked in the CSO, baby potatoes in beef fat, elote.
  12. I use a Map torch.
  13. Finally - the baby is back where she belongs! Love the coconut charcoal!
  14. Anyone, anyone? Oh alright - I'll tell you - it's Eeyore's Requiem. And it is damn delicious!
  15. Thai basil, two very sad basil, dill and mojito mint. The cilantro from the supermarket that had roots on it, italian parsley, chives and and thyme. See the crystals? There is a mail strike potentially happening in Canada, the posties were in strike position as of midnight July 2. To save about half the space in the car we opted to ship the rug rats diapers up from southern ontario and I did it in plenty of time - or so I thought. So by Thursday as we were driving up here - in spite of the website saying they would be delivered that day - it became clear that they would not - and due to the strike - potentially not at all! So we contacted the company and had them ship up another $500 worth via courier. But of course being in the location we are those will not arrive until Monday. Our diaper purveyor kindly called ahead to the local pharmacy to make sure that they had something that might tide us over. So in we went to buy a package. We have since gone and liberated other diapers, not perfect, but a lot more suitable from the hospital. (after a couple of major spills). This means that I have a package of diapers that are not going to be made use of - however I needed something to keep the moisture in the planters. Diapers contain a layer of hydrogel crystals - also found in moisture retaining potting soils. So that's the crystals!
  16. Anna pointed out a few minutes ago that I'm getting old - she says that two years ago by now I would have had everything unpacked, the closet emptied out, the BBQ out on the balcony and heated up, the people who stayed in the condo blamed for the missing whatever...and all my baking done and the egg people contacted to obtain eggs. I think she's right damnit! The closet pre emptied. The liquor cabinet predux. The liquor cabinet middux. The liquor cabinet redux!
  17. Things we got today. Who knew that cretons could be purchased in the supermarket (not just found on the other end of the phone)!
  18. Seen on our travels today - the CSO in Crappy Tire, the Cuttlefish Ink in the Independent Grocer (Loblaws).
  19. just awaiting our order
  20. Anna and I are off to Espanola in search of a garbage can this morning. The last one I purchased seem to have made its way into someone else's possession. The one we are going to get should successfully fend off critters. And hopefully won't get stolen
  21. Ah - that explains it - I was all growed up and out of the province by 1987.
  22. Interesting - I had to figure out what Bruce National Park was - as I never associated the area with a national park - and was interested to discover that it seems to encompass Cypress Lake Provincial Park (at least that's what it was called when I used to scuba dive there as a teen) and Fathom Five Provincial park (which was where we dove in Tobermory). Wonder when it changed to national park?
