  1. It doesn't look that big in the pics - but it's a 1pint beer stein I'm drinking it in! It's hard at a restaurant to get enough milk (or good tea for that matter).
  2. I bought it at Homesense - I saw 4 in there yesterday for $50 each.
  3. I must confess I came up here rather depressed thinking that it might be our last given the condo sale - and certainly not looking forward to the idea of either selling or packing up all the shit kitchenware/chemicals/ingredients I've accumulated here in 18 years. So I had no plans! I did bring up a copy of Wybauw's Gold - but that was to help with writing the course outline for a class I'm going to be teaching at Humber College this fall for the Post Graduate Advanced Chocolate and Confectionary course, which is new this year. Another goal we identified - use up as much of the booze that only has an ounce or two in the bottle - we are suffering severely due to the lack of regular gin and St Germaine while we try to reach this goal! And this is why we were not in the liquor store in Sudbury yesterday. Today my goal is to make Paul Raphael's Brown Butter Muscovado Chocolate Chip cookies. The butter is browning as we speak.
  4. Love having an experimentation thread! Can't wait to start playing myself when I get back home and fire up my melanger.
  5. Forgot to post big blue in action yesterday These lemons we picked up at Costco are so big and with such a thick shell that you can’t bring the handle all the way down
  6. Amaretto Sour - apologies to Jeffery Morgenthaler
  7. Will have to wait until I get it to measure it.
  8. I must confess I never measure to the tenths of a gram!
  9. Breakfast at Jeremy’s in Nairn Center poached for Anna steak and eggs for me - why would you bother to ask how one would like their steak done when it’s 1/4 inch thick?
  10. Not the same story we are hearing closer to Manitoulin - it’s been so dry they are rare as hen’s teeth!
  11. It's thick but not as thick as yogurt - stirring it seems to thin it out. Those are Anna's Asian Pears that she pickled.
  12. Just as there is no proper tonic water to be found in Little Current - buttermilk was nowhere to be found. Fortunately I happened to have some culture here and was able to make my own.
  13. There is a small drum on it's way to my home even as we speak. I will be testing it out - but of course not until I get home in early August. I suspect I'll use it a whole lot more than the big drum because most of what I want to do is small batch.
  14. Lunch at Ed’s in Wiki Carrot soup and Caesar salad for me Toasted Western for my medical student Archie
  15. I saw candy cigarettes in the store the other day - now they call them candy sticks! Didn't buy a pack to see if the ends were still red.
  16. Actually it looks like ramapril - but making it put my BP up not down!
  17. A tiny bit of rain this afternoon - not enough to help the blueberries on the mainland sadly - but it made for a beautiful sundown. Noticed this character coming up from the marina - didn't walk quite like a skunk, moved a fair bit faster - as it approached I realized it was a porcupine. It headed for the middle of the road then started walking towards town. Did what I could to discourage this lovely cat from checking him out - it would not have ended well for the cat I'm sure.
  18. I'm in Wiki tomorrow - I have medical student with me and we will be spending the morning at the Wiki Nursing Home and the afternoon at the clinic. 3 bananas had made it to the perfect banana bread stage - so that was a given. First time I've made the Creamsicle cookies that have been mentioned on eG in the past. Too lazy to zest an orange - I added about 10 drops of bitter orange oil.
  19. So very true! When I think of the number of Cuisinarts I have re-homed. And Mixmasters.
  20. You mean up here or at home?
  21. Actually it will be going to @Alleguede's shop to process soups, pate's etc - I knew I could find a home for it.
  22. The Art of Choke - and peanuts - a perfect @JoNorvelleWalker dinner!
  23. A clean oven is the sign of a sick mind! (adapted from a bumper sticker - that replaced oven with car)
  24. It was useful for an interesting exercise in masking however
