Soon after we got our first microwave, when I was about 12 I had a brilliant idea If I could cut the top crust off the Swanson pot pie I could slide the pie into a bowl and nuke it while toasting the crust in the toater oven. It would certainly cook much faster that way...brilliant like I said Except its really hard to take a 12 inch serrated/pointy knife and slide it under a frozen pie crust. Its also fairly difficult to wiggle the serrated knife point out of your palm. I make them with puff pastry tops now tracey

Peanutbutter and strawberry jelly on white bread. Squishy cottony supermarket white bread. This is the routine, if I am unpacking groceries/white bread any time near lunch I put away the cold stuff then make a PB&J and eat it. Then I put away the rest of the food and invariabley find something refridgerated hiding at the bottom of an unpacked bag. oh well tracey

I just saw caffeinated gum at a gas station in NY state last week....I dont know where we were but it was on the way to some nasty BBQ place tracey

In NJ the average diner menu is the size of a 3 yr old and it was always so cute to see my daughter hiding behind one looking for the "child page" She came home from college with more boxes of kitchen stuff than clothes and she just mentioned that they are going to have to start asking for their food Thai Hot at their favorite restaurant... I didnt eat tomatoes till I was 38 except for sauce tracey

If any of this makes you head back in the pizza direction....you can use swap outs as mentioned above. Whne you put the kids dough to rest you can pull out a risen one and let them deflate it and maybe even have a rested one to roll out...been there it works out well. tracey

RE: the scrambled eggs in the microwave...making scrambled eggs in a large mug is perfect for english muffin sandwiches, just the right size.

Now if we switch the salad for sesame broccoli it would look just like my dinner last night. Pork (boneless ribs) some marinated with Char Sui and Hoisin and some with Gochujang and "Korean bbq sauce" grilled and served with rice and sesame broccoli. reminder: when you get to the very end of a jar of sticky sauce, and think to put in some water and nuke it to melt the very last out of the jar....It Will Be HOT tracey

Hey Doc Mayhawman (Brooks) is usually there as am I, but he is actually working My advice.... good shoes, loose pants, no rings. Think before you put that in your mouth if it doesnt really sound good it might not be. If you have any sodium issues be even more carefull/ and drink lots of water at the aisle ends Now the fun part, this thing is freeking amazing the Entire Javits Center filled with food and its all yours They set up rows of States downstairs and Countries upstairs, I usually start downs stairs to the right just for the hell of it ( and there used to be waffles over there) They offer clear plastic shopping bags for your Literature, if you are careful you can tuck samples in there Officially no samples to be removed, no cameras either. You dont want to carry anything into the show. I may be on my own this year on the Sunday if anyone wants to meet-up. tracey

at the very least if it doesnt smell funky you mix it with some fresh tomatoes, cream and herbs and toss over pasta...that would cover some "textural difficulties" and sounds damn tasty too tracey

Every holiday dinner of my life has mixed paper and china...your basic Coronet dinner napkin I think I have some in the pantry half the fun of holidays as a child was wicking all the ink out of my uncle's fountain pen into a napkin after dinner (just saw a TV show about fountains pens a few days ago and told my husband about what I used to do) tracey

Flour tortilla, refried beans, leftover smoked butt, tomatoes and "salsa dip" not pictured with lettuce and avocado Yummy thanks for the ideas tracey

There seems to be alot of activity at the ski resort in Vernon NJ ...condos and shopping as well as the water park. Downtown Warwick NYhas some dining but not much, there is a new bakery in Warwick on 94. Sugarloaf NYis a great artsy fartsy town. As is Milford PA. I just dont know how much money is up there yet, I dont feel that Orange County has hit a balance of old farm folk and new city folk. tracey
