  1. Torakris, so looking forward to your blog and your pictures!
  2. I missed not having the play by play while you were away... Varmint, it's looking great already! I'm now looking at my kitchen and thinking...
  3. Hi TUBER, and welcome! Hum, yes... my pepper mill, some sea salt in a small bag, a corkscrew THAT WORKS, a small paring knife and, when I can, a chef's knife. I usually can work around bad pots and pans for one meal, but have been known to knock on my hosts' neighbors' doors to borrow "things". I have also bought things on site for friends' kitchens... BTW, my mother HATES to cook. Any meal at my parents' place means that I bring basket upon basket of food and equipment. One Christmas, two years ago, other folks taking the elevator with me asked me for my business card. They thought I was a caterer!
  4. I agree with docsconz. At first, I thought: Oh, but to live there....(your city, your quartier, your appartment)...but then I started to really pay attention.... it's not "there", it's YOU....Your eye chooses, and presents in a way that totally enchants. However, you also produce not only beautiful photography and prose, but food as well. You cook in a style that seems so natural, so spontaneous (sp?)... It has been a delightful and magic week. Merci, Bleu.
  5. Bleu, Merci for posting the kitchen pictures. I've been going back and forth between the plans and the final results...I can see how the triangles would indeed work...and how this is a kitchen for one cook at a time! I do like that! Safran
  6. Bleu, That caesar salad made me salivate! My taste buds were reacting wildly...must be the anchovies... You promised us kitchen pictures...I have been studying the plans and am looking forward to the "finished" product. Again, do you find the floor easy on the feet? Safran
  7. One more: Vegetarian Suppers from Deborah Madison's Kitchen
  8. Merci, bleu, for sharing the kitchen plans! And I LOVE the floor. Is it easy on the feet? I would assume so...am looking forward to tomorrow....
  9. Bleu, I love all the pictures you've shared with us but I do have to admit that the one of your refrigerator's contents, with the basket, is my favorite one...I think it was posted around Thanksgiving last year. I felt I was looking in to see what could be cooked in your kitchen... and speaking of kitchens, would you show us what it looks like? A 3 x 4,5 foot cooking space mystifies me... Safran
  10. Oh mjr, you're right about the filth... Thanks for posting the pictures; it's really coming along. Floor and ceiling both look great! Gather you'll have a busy weekend!
  11. mjr... good luck with the project...and we want pictures!
  12. Bleu, It's 10 am here in Ottawa, Canada. I'm reading your lunch experience and salivating. Sigh....
  13. Arne, this whole week felt like a party! I'm tired for you so I can just imagine how you feel! Thank you so much for introducing the Vancouver food scene in such a fun and active way. I've been taking notes and can hardly wait to go visit, eat and shop for food!!
  14. Oh Bleu...the cheese, the bread, le café pressé, the window, the view, the bowl....I am so going to enjoy this blog. Thank you for inviting us! And merci to Pan for suggesting we visit your first blog. Off I am! Bonne journée!
  15. I have a question for you: are those "friends" late for a flight, or for an exam or anything else that really touches them? Bet you not... I had (yep, "had") a friend like the couple in question who also "just lost track of the time" yet was always on time for exams, flights or anything other activity that was unforgiving....
  16. If I understand correctly, you've made reservations, they're to meet you at that time at the restaurant and are always late. Hum, not fair to you indeed but also not fair to the restaurant staff. That table is probably promised to someone else after your group leaves. Are you a large enough group that you can start without them? When they join you they can order (and you can leave early and let them foot the bill ). Is there no way at all that you can go out without these people?? Also, have you tried discussing this problem with them? (Yeah, I know, I'm no shrinking violet...). Good luck!
  17. Marlene, Naahh....you'll be turning that baby on before Saturday for sure! This is too cool!!! As for the felines...they do need to be the centre of attention (I KNOW, I am owned by a Burmese!!!) therefore, put their little bowls around the new range and take a picture.... We want to see these guys! Kidding aside, good luck with the move and may your new kitchen be at the heart of many many good times! Safran
  18. Hey, Chocoholic! Time to get the camera out and start your own reno thread...We want to see those pictures!!
  19. Marlene, we need a picture of your three felines around this new beastie...Can't let the cute white dog get all the attention!
  20. Oh wow!!!! Wait till Daddy-A sees this!! You must already be planning the housewarming!!!!
  21. OK, that's it! I want to pack up the household and MOVE. The pictures of that cheese shop were the last straw. What an absolutely GORGEOUS place!!! Have fun tonight Arne and "J"!!
  22. Excellent, excellent news!!! So it will be in BEFORE you move?? Even better!!
  23. Oh Arne, and Neil!!! I, too, would love the recipe for that dessert, including the recipe for the two ice-creams. Wow!!! Arne, you're a true blogger, ordering dessert for us...! Am really enjoying this blog! Now, what's on for tonight??? Do you and your wife both share cooking or is that your area?
  24. Arne, geez, that's cruel!!!! Those pics of spring...looks to me like it HAS arrived. Here in Ottawa, we still have 3 feet of snow in the back yards, so no local asparagus just yet, or local anything for that matter! Fun, fun having you blog!! We will, of course, be taking notes of all these food places for our next visit.
  25. Yikes!!! This is beyond a kitchen reno...it's a kitchen rebuild... Good luck and keep posting. We want to see how this progresses!
