  1. Michelle, corned beef hash was a regular breakfast item for me while in college....still like it, but my cardiologist does not. As for graduating from college...good luck with all your future endeavors, but don't be too quick to rush out of there.
  2. Raita might be an interesting side dish Or take some Kulfi for dessert Or some Kingfisher beer.
  3. Yahh Susan....smoked duck breast... How did you like it/
  4. Are you in Budapest? If so, go to the cafe on the Danube across from the Castle, where you can get this... or Go to the cafe by the McDonalds on "walking street" and get this..
  5. Where exactly is this place?
  6. James, Did they have the "offal cart" by the entrance when you visited?
  7. Parmhero...that bread looks great !! Yesterday I made an egg beaters omlete with Mitake mushrooms and some sharp cheddar
  8. Hungary is known for its pastry (especially croissants and cakes). I had some great one while in Budapest. In budapest many places serve farmers cream cheese with paprika and onions...does this cafe have any?
  9. For those of you who never thought I would post breakfast that does not contain egg ... behold. At the urging of my Doctor and threats from my wife, my non-egg breakfast consisted of: Spicy Tofu and Fresh Fruit
  10. A while bag I posted my plastic cling wrap poached eggs on the breakfast thread. You take some plastic wrap, double it up, spray with vegetable oil, place in a shallow cup or bowl, then crack an egg in it and twist and tie the ends. Poach it in simmering water (too hot and the plastic will melt).
  11. one of my favorite restaurants in that area is a german place in abbottstown (a few miles outside gettysburg) called the hofbrauhaus. it's not very glamorous, but they do have a decent selection of german beers and they make a mean potato dumpling. if you like german food, i'd recommend it. here's a website with some other restaurant choices ... Gettysburg ← By chance I happened to be at Hofbrauhaus a few weeks ago. The beer is good...the food and atmosphere are a bit blah.
  12. Speaking of local bacon, Hendrick's Farm makes a pretty decent nitrate-free bacon. Unfortunately, I have only seen it sold in one store which carries their cheese and their website.
  13. Ohhhhh Ann....looks delicious.
  14. A few pictures to go along with Bob's commentary above... Easy to locate and identify...915 Arch Street, just across from Sichuan Tasty House and the adjoining private parking lot. Pickled pepper lamb Cold Chicken Salad - I wanted to get one standard item from the Tifco's menu in order to compare the flavors and level of spice. ChungKing River Fish (Chunks of Tilapia in this case). As you can see, this dish had some flair (pun intended ). The flames were quite high at first and at one point it looked like the oil in the sauce was about to catch fire. Luckily we escaped this brush with death to enjoy some good Sichuan food. The fish boiling away On the way out I could not pass up some of the organ meats, so I got Pigs ears (the red and white stripped thing), beef strips (redish - could be heart), and beef tongue - The pig ear has a chewy texture, as does the beef strips, but the tongue is incredible. As Bob and others have mentioned, these dishes had enough chili peppers in them to give your tongue a little tingle and enough Sichuan peppercorn and other spices to catch the back of your throat a bit. Personally I prefer this over the tongue numbing amount of chili some of the Tifco dishes had, but if that is your preference, I am sure they can "kick it up a notch" so to speak. Eastlake1972 (one of the new owners), recognized us a eGullet members based on the dishes we ordered, which cracked me up.
  15. How about a dumpling smackdown tomorrow (Sun Apr 23rd)? I will post in the ISO thread too.
  16. Thanks...get the truffle butter instead of the eggs..much better with eggs.
  17. Hey Parmhero...welcome to the Breakfast thread and great firt post here.
  18. Recently, my wife and I visited Places Bistro in Malvern / Frazer. This was our first visit there on a weekday and I think they only have a small portion of their dining room open: Our dinner consisted of Duck Rillettes - Quite a large portion for an appetizer and quick delicious. Goat cheese salad - nothing memorable. Scallops with chestnut fettucini - The sauce was excellent, but the pasta was a bit tooo al dente and had more than a bite to it. Halibut and asparagus on sundried tomato pesto - The pesto great with a good amount of pine nuts, which I love. However. the fish seemed to have a weird odor to it.

  20. My wife and I visited Alba yesterday for dinner. Our meal can be found on the Alba thread.
  21. It may be time to start posting in the Chunk King Garden thread
  22. Do you remember the name or the proximity to landmarks/streets?
  23. On Easter Sunday, we had our neighbors and their kids over for an egg hunt, followed by brunch. A few nick knacks while I made Crab Florentine eggs benedict, akoori, bacon, sausage, etc. I didn't have a bunny shaped mold, but the kids didn't seem to mind the Mickey shaped pancakes.

Philadining, as your manager, I have to ask....is the camera OK?
  25. I grabbed take out for dinner from there a few months ago as well. Not sure if they are still serving dinner, but I can check. Try the "Chili Chicken", an Indo-Chinese favorite....they do make it spicy.
