  1. my first module in chef school was to write an essay about some influential guy in the culinary world. i chose carlos petrini. so this thread is very interesting for me, glad you're enjoying it
  2. let's see, i was wondering what happened to the 'let's give someone a chance' thing he did for tv. so some of you have been to the rest. and were dissappointed? i think among the culianry world some people deserve the chance to become successful through tv rather than by slaving for years and years. as for his shows, i'm not really a big fan apart from the fact i get to see good old london on tv, the license plates, the banter, the lingo etc. so it is entertainment for me. of course, there is always going to be a 'ooh, that's interesting' somewhere along the series, but not many. i'm in chef school at the moment in new york and loving it. finally understanding what a gpa is. my favourite show is great chefs of the world
  3. perhaps offer mango lassie (sp.) cocktails my father in law is indian and drinks whiskey or beer indian beer is good with indian ( that would be a given) i have eaten a lot of indian food and can honestly say wine has never really played a part unless it's maybe one glass before.

  5. you are eating some serious eggs now!! just thought i'd change it a little in saying that my mum's skinless sausage casserole was absolutely yuk. oh well. back to the topic though, my mum would never flip the eggs but splash fat over the yolk to "white it", this contained vegetable oil, bacon fat and sausage fat, and sometimes black pudding bits too!! yummy
  6. the best way to eat them is raw. there is no other way!! seriously though, once those cooked green beans begin to squeek in my cheeks, i will not eat another one. i do eat them and think they are delicious when not squeeky. what makes them squeeky ?
  7. egg's easy with crispy edges on the whites. oh, what a mum.
  8. without fail, my first drink in the morning is the biggest clean glass i can find full of cold water, then a cup of tea, (i'm on a chai fix at the moment) foodwise, either total cereal or an egg with a slice of toast. special breakfast for me are mushrooms slowly cooked in butter and garlic then grilled with fontina on thick toasted crusty bread. for the more hearty winter days, black pudding grilled and topped with melted stilton and toast. don't eat too much of this kind of food though!!
