  1. Aldi brie with rosemary and olive oil Savoritz topped with marinated bamboo shoots. Beer'd Brewery's World @ Large APA. HC
  2. It's on my shopping list today, kayb. I don't know how this happened! HC
  3. Poached eggs on toast, bacon and fresh salsa and a side of fresh fruit. HC
  4. Veal piccata, acorn squash and peas. HC
  5. I like to cook fresh kielbasa with equal amounts of apple and onions in a covered dish for an hour at 350, then uncovered for an additional half hour. It makes for a nice dinner and reheats well. HC
  6. I'm not sure I am at all comfortable wearing the villain costume, here. Zucchini overages were laughable when I was a kid and often discussed at the dinner table towards the end of summer. We joked about how the zucchini six pack was a conspiracy when buying plants in the spring and how the 2 or 3 pack would be more rational. It has kind of been my ongoing search since then, to find uses for the over supply. I remember fashioning them into mackeral like fishing plug lures for striped bass back then, and being so absolutely proud and blown away to bring home a huge striper for dinner, that I managed to catch with one, one day But, I have, indeed, gotten addicted to them in my diet, and never thought I would seek them out in winter as a breakfast staple, but I have. And I never, ever thought I would have to worry about making it past security to find them. HC
  7. I make red salsa every week using Roma tomatoes that are always around and for chips, I like the Clancy's Big Dippers from Aldi. They are very good and inexpensive. HC
  8. I had to go to the DMV this morning and my favorite sushi joint is right near by. They just pack soy sauce, but I like to kick it up with chopped shallots, a dash of rice wine vinegar, some sesame oil and sesame seeds. The beer is a double IPA called The Captain's Daughter. It's from a local RI brewery called Grey Sails Brewing. I stopped by recently for a few growler fills. HC
  9. First pizza in the new oven, so a bit experimental, but it's a start. Sausage and peppers. HC

    Aldi

Once again, I could not find the little 8 oz wheels of brie that we have become addicted to at Aldi and decided to contact them about it. Their response, below was disappointing, to say the least. RIP, Happy Farms brie HC "Thank you for reaching out to us. Like any retailer, we only sell the items that perform well. Unfortunately, this item did not sell well enough for us to continue stocking it, therefore the item has been discontinued and is no longer available. However, your feedback is very important to us and has been forwarded to the ALDI Buying Team for review. Thank you again for reaching out to us. Kind regards, ALDI Customer Service"
  11. Lightly breaded fried chicken and potato salad. HC
  12. In my case it was inspired by an abundance of leftovers: This unlikely combination snatched a stunning victory from the jaws of defeat in the stadium of leftovers this am. Broiled brie, sauteed red and cubanelle peppers, snow peas on Tuscan toast. HC
  13. Chorizo stuffed littleneck clams. HC
  14. Broiled brie on fried zucchini wafers and avocado toast with snow peas. HC
  15. Beef stew from Aldi chuck roast in the IP. HC
  16. I like to dice mine, then shred it with the fork as I mix it up. HC
  17. Leftover central, here. Catfish reporting in. Scalloped potatoes, kielbasa and snow peas. The Starbucks was on sale last summer, but since, has gone invisible to Deb. HC
  18. Kimchi fried rice with leftover kielbasa. HC
  19. Oh, I haven't ruled on it yet, and garlic and hot sauce is pretty much a given. Maybe even some dry sherry. HC
  20. I have 2 in the freezer, but have not tried it yet. I was hoping for a winner. HC
  21. Anyone tried the Cioppino? HC
  22. Zucchini and Brie on Tuscan toast, bacon, home fries and fresh salsa. HC
  23. I thought I had it down in my head what to order, but somehow I screwed it up and ordered 2 spicy tuna California rolls and 1 spicy tuna roll, instead of 2 spicy tuna rolls and 1 spicy tuna California roll (you can see how the confusion sets in), but when it came to over twenty dollars, I realized there was a problem. Then when I picked up the take-out and felt the weight of it, I knew. It was still good, even though I had the last few pieces as a late night snack. HC
  24. Kielbasa and onions, scalloped potatoes and the recent warmer weather got me thinking about three bean salad. HC
  25. @kayb, we are about an hour and a half out of Boston. It certainly would be fun and doable. Driving into Boston is a PITA, so it would probably involve taking the "T" in from an outlying town. The devil is in the details. We will be in Boston for a cruise to Bermuda sometime in June. When you mention Gloucester, I think whale watch. HC
