  1. Things are just fine the way they are, Anna! HC
  2. I believe I can speak for the majority and say we all want a full report! HC
  3. Shelby, I believe you mentioned a few weeks back that you had friends in the chicken egg business. I know that crushed oyster shells are a requirement for laying hens, to get nice thick egg shells. You might want to ask them if they have more interest in those shells than the dogs. Just a thought. HC
  4. It is interesting that I first read about Crystal hot sauce here on eg. There were such raves about it that I had to try it. Unfortunately that was just about the time the factory was destroyed by Katrina and I was out of luck and pretty much forgot about it. Then a few years ago we visited New Orleans and we had char grilled oysters and fried green tomatoes at Superior Seafood on St. Charles Ave and I happened to spot a bottle of it on the table and the rest is history. I think Deb liked it as much as I did. I brought a few bottles home and watched our supply slowly dwindle with great concern. One day I happened upon it at a local supermarket and celebrated that very night with char grilled oysters and fried green tomatoes. I always keep a few bottles in the pantry to stave off panic attacks. HC
  5. These local oysters were on sale for 75 cent each and I got 18. After having the first 6 for lunch today, I wish I had bought twice that many. I may have to return for more and hope they are still on sale. And, they repourpose well! HC
  6. We were in a W-S a few years ago looking at their stuff, like a $700 counter space hogging panini press. We happened to hear a chap with a British accent say to a store clerk "I have just moved into a new flat and am looking for some pots and pans." It caught my attention, because what I heard was " I have just left my house and moved out on my own, and need a few things." I immediately felt for the guy and waited to hear how it went. The clerk's condescending and unhelpful response: "If you want pots and pans, go to Walmart, we sell cookware." left a lasting impression on us both! HC
  7. Baked stuffed shrimp, one of Deb's favorites, and I aim to please. HC
  8. Made a small excursion to get some fresh gulf U-10 - 12 shrimp that were on sale. I also found fresh local oysters fo 75 Cent each. My future has brightened! Deb's reward will be baked stuffed shrimp tonight. I chose a more immediate gratification as mine. A little cicchetti lunch complete with a glass of World at Large, a local APA (the minute hand was pointing at 5, that counts, right?). HC
  9. Poached eggs on rye toast, scrapple, stir fried zucchini, fresh salsa and ruby grapefruit supreme. HC
  10. Fried eggs, fried zucchini, scrapple and fresh salsa. You've seen it all before and here it is again. HC
  11. Yes. It can be used as one big oven or two separate ovens. I had a dual fuel double oven that I absolutely loved, but the touch pad had a history of going out, which was what happened to mine, so I chose to replace, rather than repair. I recently put in a propane fired stand-by generator, which balked at running everything in the house at once, so I opted to line out the electric ovens. As part of that process, I bought my own 150 gal propane tanks, which cut my propane price in half, so when the range died, I decided to go with all gas so that in the event of a power outage, I would have it all . It remains to be seen how well this works out. HC
  12. Thanks, man. Of course, I wanted to redo the kitchen as part of the deal, but when your ovens die, things have a way of changing your plans. HC
  13. First meal from the new oven, a slight learning curve. Baked haddock, asparagus and a baked potato all cooked in the same oven. Not bad, but the timing will improve. HC
  14. Spaghetti and meatballs, and a salad that I choose to call a "whatever you got salad". HC
  15. Tomato and cheese omelette with home fries and salsa. HC
  16. Korean BBQ rotisserie chicken, leftover scalloped potatoes that were supplemented with stir fried zucchini. New stove delivery on Wed, can't wait. HC
  17. Salami, smoked provolone, shredded lettuce, tomato, olive oil, salt and pepper on a store bought roll. HC
  18. Veal picatta, toaster oven scalloped potatoes and peas. HC
  19. Butternut squash and kielbasa from the grill. Still no working oven, but that will all change on Wednesday! HC
  20. Linguine in white clam sauce. One of my (many) weaknesses. Deb did not protest. HC
  21. Bruschetta! It's whats's for lunch. HC
  22. Anything that has been in the fridge for more than 4 days becomes invisible to Deb, or as I like to put it, gets left for the catfish. I am the catfish (koo koo kachoo). Leftover invisible potato salad, fried eggs, stir fried zucchini and salsa. HC
  23. Red curry chicken with SV'd skinless, boneless chicken thighs and cilantro lime jasmine rice. HC
  24. Bartlett pears. One of my favorite fruits. HC
  25. Rye toast, buttered shaved zucchini, strips of brie, sliced kalamata olives, capers, chopped tomatoes, chopped red onions and a spray of olive oil. All seasoned with tajin, dried basil, garlic powder and black pepper. Broiled until bubbly. HC
