  1. I do know that Whole Foods carries them but I don't think there are any stores in your area. I would think that Delicious Orchards in Colts Neck would also have them.
  2. Ditto On Applegate Farms. Right now they have the absolute BEST Pumpkin Ice Cream!!!!!!! and Denville Dairy....for their Ice Cream Cakes...wow! My high school days were spent hanging out with Rolando Policastro, in the room behind the kitchen of Policastro's Bakery, better known as Marie's Bakery in Hoboken...Boy was I spoiled! Fresh Marie's bread right out of the oven..anytime I wanted it! Foccacia on Saturday mornings, while they lasted... BTW. Antique Bakery is owned by Dominick, their Son in Law.
  3. Since it was a raining, last night, I decided to stay close to home, and try Spring Grill. I agree the shrimp crisps are addictive, and the Peanut curry sauce was a nice touch. We ordered the summer rolls for an appetizer, and they were excellent. It came with two rolls split and presented like a Japanese hand roll: very nice indeed. Ghostrider, I also have to agree with you on the inexperpienced Waitress. She was totally clueless. My friend actually had her roll in the dipping sauce, when the young waitress came over and asked if we were finished...lol For one entree, we chose the shrimp with lemongrass, and my friend was in heaven. The sauce was delectable, and she kept going back for more and more, until the dish was absolutely empty! The other entree was some sort of chicken dish, (sorry can't remember the name). It came with slices of chicken with a sauce drizzled over it, accompanied by a salad of lettuce, tomatoes, sprouts, and chopped peanuts. This was good, but the other dish was the clear winner. For dessert, I chose the Thai Custard. I was curious as to what flavorings/ spices were used, but I guess I asked my question the wrong way, and instead she tried to describe what a custard actually is...." well, it has and eggs, and is round, and it looks like a pudding..." Yup that's a custard. In any event, I did eventually get out of her that it was pumpkin, but it was tasteless, and boring. Pass on it. The prices are slightly higher that other Thai Restaurants in the area, but I think it is definitely worth a trip, and I will be going back.
  4. Also in Nutley, Jim Dandy's (across the the Nutley BuyRite Liquor store), makes a pretty good burger. The med rare ones are perfect......and good crispy fries.
  5. Whole Foods has a nice selection of homemade soups. I've purchased their Chicken Soup and it was excellent, with lots of chicken and vegetables. The Butternut Squash Soup is also very nice, especially this time of year.
  6. I hate that non dairy crap!!! I trust your judgement on the desserts...I saw pictures of the Bellagio's Raspberry Tarts. I was salivating!!!
  7. Exactly how far away from Caesar's is Lotus of Siam...and approx how much should the cab ride run?
  8. Latour in Ridgewood also does a nice tasting menu on Tues, Wed and Thursday.
  9. Little Saigon was my favorite take out place.. :-( Where is this new place exactly? Looks like I might have to take a ride tomorrow night!
  10. Thanks for the suggestion. That just might be a choice. Last trip to Vegas we saw "O". Fabulous!
  11. Thanks for the inside info.. Looks like so far it is: Thursday Lotus of Siam Friday Bradley Ogden or Mesa Grill Sat Bellagio Buffet Sun Nobhill or Fix I think we'll be happy with any of these choices, if all the info I've rec'd here is on the mark. Thanks!
  12. Hi nightscotsman, Yes, when I saw egullet had moved me, I spent last night combing the other threads. It's just two of us who are doing this trip. We'll be staying at the Alladin, and my friend has left the dining places up to me. Looks like Lotus of Siam is a must !! I haven't limited my choices to any specific cuisine. Here's the group that interests me the most, so far: Bouchon FIX Bradley Ogden Nobhill Rosemary's ( on Sahara) Michael Mina Aqua Aquanox Someone also mentioned the seafood buffet at the Rio, and Emeril's Fish House. Would love to have your opinion of these places, and add another if you think it might be a better choice.... Maybe checking out the menus would be a next step... The tickets for Celine are for Friday Night...Would you suggest the Bellagio Buffet for that night..or is the waiting time too unpredictable?
  13. Do you have any favorite dishes?
  14. I'll be going to Vegas over the Columbus Day weekend. Will be there from Thursday thru Monday. I know one place that most people talk about is the Buffet at the Bellagio, so that takes care of one night. I'd like to plan on one more" not too expensive" place and two nice dinners. I was there a few years back and dined at at Olives, Aureole, and Circo. Also need a suggestion for a good show...Been to Danny Gans and "O", and this time will be catching Celine Dion's show on Friday Night. Another less expensive one would be great. Need to have some money left to gamble .. :-)
  15. Cafe Cafe 16 Glen Road Rutherford,NJ 201-460-4442 Two doors down from the Spring Grill, where we should have gone. Spring Grill had lots and lots of diners.
  16. You might want to consider taking the train over to Hoboken. It's much easier than trying to park there.
  17. We passed by La Isla on the ride home. Will have to try that next time.
  18. Gencarelli's is a must for italian Cake... Another great french pastry shop is La Petite Patisserie in Dumont...
  19. I had the chance to dine at this new Latin Restaurant, last evening, with a friend. For starters, we ordered a small dish of chiorizo sausage, fried onions, and olives. It was nicely accompanied by homemade potato chips. My friend enjoyed her Tilapia with Enchilada Sauce, which was a light sauce with chopped tomatoes. I ordered the Roast Pork and yuca. The pork was a little overdone for my taste. Both dishes came with white rice, and the waitress brought over a bowl of black beans to ladle over the rice. Cafe Cafe is a BYOB. On their menu, they offer a pitcher with fresh fruit for Sangria. We brought wine and ordered this. I was a bit dissapointed, as it was just a few chunks of pineapple, a few half slices of apple and orange. I didn't think it was worth the charge of Ten Dollars. I would have thought it would have also included some fruit juice, which is an integral part in Sangria. We did not have dessert or coffee. Dinner came to $65 + tip. My feeling was that it was an "ok" restaurant, not one I would run back to. Has anyone else dined here?
  20. Latour, in Ridgewood, offers a tasting menu on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. ... and it's a BYOB !!
  21. There's also one on State Street In Hackensack on the right side of the street, going towards Essex St. Sorry, but I can't seem to remember the name. ...having a senior moment ....
  22. I requested an award card, and rec'd it today. It's a coupon worth $10. Can't wait to try it..
  23. If I remember correctly, it actually received the award of being #1 in one of the top ten on NJ Restaurants a few years back.
  24. It's funny that this thread surfaced, ... I just happened to pass this place Sunday, and also wondered if it was still as good as it was when it opened several years back.
  25. They used to have a buffet on Sunday. Went there several times with my brother who lives in Montville. It's a great way to taste several dishes. My favorite was the chic pea dish. Can't remember excatly what was in it, but it was a tomatoey sauce that was great to sop up with the nan ( bread). Be sure to order the mango smoothie; it was delicious.
