OMG!! A thread for Lee's...funny. We went years ago, never returning. It was amusing enough for the evening, food was edible...that's about all folk's.

We had the same experience here, and never went back (I went with someone from Cuba). Ditto on the Cuban rest. in Union City that are better and 1/4 of the price.

Went to Brookside Thai for the first time this weekend. I found the food to be quite good, with a couple of hits, and only one miss. The pad thai was very good, very delicate believe it or not. We had sweet and sour chicken, which was good as well. We had a mixed seafood dish with garlic which was okay..the sauce was good, the seafood was not. All in all I found their food to be a bit more delicately prepared than Wondees, not as greasy. Wondees being the standard for comparison. The atmosphere is much cozier than Wondees, and the service was good. All in all, they are both very good and, with the inclusion of Sri Thai in Hoboken, the best that I have tried.

I used to go out for Peruvian food often in Union City, but the place closed. The mussel dish in the pic is as remembered, and we miss it. Need to check out this place. Thanks!

Went here last night with a friend. Aside from another table, we were the only customers. We ordered the chicken kabob with the special rice, and sauteed eggplant. They both were good. Service was fine. The rice is very tasty. The salad was nothing special, iceberg lettuce, tom, cucumber, carrot, decent dressing. The bread was good. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and the eggplant was tasty, but rather oily. All in all it was a nice meal in a cozy ambiance. The spicing was a bit different than other middle eastern foods I have had, but the same genre.

It's unlikely the sales staff at OD are privy to any more info than the general public... just the same rumors. From what I understand, TJ is being built in part of their warehouse, so they may know something.

I just got off the phone with Office Depot on Route 17 in Paramus. I asked if Trader Joes is coming and she said YES! I called them before when I confirmed this earlier in the thread...so two people...and annoyed people I might add. I assume many are calling with the same question.

In Rutherford on Park Avenue, there is Ice Cream Charlies. Very good homemade Ice Cream. Esp. love their Chocolate/peanut butter/choc. pieces Ice Cream.

I used to like India on the Hudson as well, but the last couple of times I went it was so-so. I would not return anytime soon. The Indian in Edgewater across from Whole Foods..the name escapes me, was pretty good. I have gone twice and both times been pleased.

Checked out their pasta tasting menu, and glanced at their dinner menu. I remember this place being more adventurous, and the menu is now typical Italian. What happened?

verified..in July where Office Depot is

How long has the Jefferson been open? They always seemed to have a crowd. Is it location, or change of chef, or finances? Hoboken is a funny place. You do have the twenty something crowd, but there is also a 30-50 something crowd that is very affluent, and would keep a place like the Jeff open. I work in Hoboken quite often (I am a dog trainer/behaviorist) and see quite a lot of the demographic within my business, and it is more diverse than one would think. However, the twenty somethings do dominate a chunk of it...and, they make me feel old and they rarely laugh at my jokes

Tuptim used to be good...discussed on a different thread that it is terrible now..new owners I believe.

They have a cheap Italian Pinot Grigio which is not bad at 4 dollars or so. Their brand Syrah is not awful..not great...okay though..good enough wine I would say. The Pinot is actually decent. Now..my favorite is the Indian food that is prepacked...under the TJ name. It is really, really good. No kidding. Especially the Eggplant (bhangum burta). I love that stuff!! It is not frozen....better than a lot of the Indian restaurants around here. Really. Good fruit spreads...whole wheat pasta's and tomatoes in a can are at good prices. Frozen veg. lasagna (organic) inexpensive and good. Great news they are coming closer with wine!!

I called Office Depot as I LOVE Trader Joes...and...it is TRUE!! They are shooting for a July 4th opening!! I go to the one in Wayne...a bit of a drive..I hope this one has wine/beer!

Tommy, thanks for checking the place out. I was being selfish and hoping someone else had tried it before I waste my money and time on yet another red sauce joint.

From Beekman's BYO website: Justin's 234 Lafayette Avenue, Hawthorne (973) 423-4345 Justin’s is one of the better Italian restaurants in the area. The sauces, both southern and northern Italian, show an attention to detail and balance that elevate Justin’s above the typical Italian eateries. Offerings are numerous, specials are fairly priced, and the service is attentive. Dinner for two is $50. Anyone been?

Has anyone tried this restaurant? They offer a jazz/blues night Tues. nights, and music Friday nights as well. Menu looked tempting.

I wish Tom would have complained, but he didn't want to. Sometimes when going out to dinner, the last thing you want is a confrontation, no matter how easy it may be. You just want to relax.

I really want to like China 46..I really like the food, usually. And they stopped charging for another bowl of brown rice it seems. We went early Friday evening before a movie. Around 6:30. Tom ordered his usual which he asks for w/out peppers. It came with peppers. We had to get up and find a waiter (they had disappeared) to return the food. It came back sans peppers...same dish. Not re-made. Tom could have picked out the peppers...he did not want the taste of the peppers in the dish. He ended up just eating his dish, not wanting to be bothered with the whole thing..and that was that. We will not be going back for some time I think. 3 strikes and all that.

Yes, in Boston. It was good. Nothing to write home about, but decent enough.

Definitely NOT in Edgewater. It's in one of those new commercial developments just outside the Lincoln Tunnel entrance, probably Weehawken. Hudson County. ←

I remember reading about Fornos mediocrity, and wondered if their tastes could be trusted. Shame.

We ate here last night for a Bday dinner after reading reviews here on egullet. I have to say that this was a big miss. Very disappointing. We started with shrimp in garlic sauce and chorizo. I only had the shrimp, which was just okay. Entrees: Shrimp stuffed with crabmeat (waiter rec)...bad. Dry, tasteless, overcooked. Paella, decent. Arroz con pollo...greasy, but passable (I just threw away the leftovers as it was too greasy sitting overnight in the fridge). Other two entrees did not try, but was told "just okay". The Sangria was a bit tasteless, but gave me a good headache later. I hate that The service (except for the bad advice) was very good. Never going back. I worked with a Brazilian couple who live in the Ironbound today, and I told them about my meal, and they said that it is known that Casa Vasca is not good quality in the community. They would not go there. They did tell me of 4 other restaurants to go to, Fornos being one of them.
