  1. exact address please. thanks.
  2. Thanks Lima Bean, the combo is actually $8.49 and not $8.99. However the good news is that Chilies is only 5 miles away in Paramus and there is one in KC and NC, LOL. Best regards, Mike Wow, not what I expected from a long time egulleter and regular poster. Especially when you have received nothing but raves in the past for your other restaurant. Lima Bean is allowed his opinion...he was far from offensive. Mike...why post this? Is criticism not allowed?
  3. Congratulations! Perhaps Fascino in Montclair. Arthur's Landing in Weehawken. I think Rosie had listed her favorite Romantic restaurants on her NJMonthly column?

    Sabor Peru

We usually go to Passaic for take out Peruvian Chicken. The chicken is on a rotisserie...I wonder if this place has one. Like Curlz said, not a lot of info on the website. I believe it opened a week or two ago. It replaced a Latin cuisine restaurant that no one went to.

    Sabor Peru

We saw it to and figured we would try it after a month or so...let them get the kinks out.
  6. Thanks for all your information. We usually do Tang Tang or Pio Pio ... wanted to try something different. Neither of us eat burgers, but I noticed that JG serves Turkey Burgers too. We are not even close to preppy or yuppie though
  7. No more than 20 dollars per person if possible. Thank you. Again, going out with a non foodie.
  8. Going to the museums tonight and would like to dine in the area. The only restaurants I can find sound great, but beyond my budget...also going with a non foodie. Any help is much appreciated.
  9. Ice Cream Charlies in Rutherford. Homemade Ice Cream and soft serve. yummmy

    EARTH

That just doesn't make sense...closing a restaurant because you can't find good enough help? hmmmmm Something else must have happened..too much money/time at stake in opening a place. I ain't buying that reason.
  12. La Isla has long waits on the weekends especially...they only have a few tables and a counter. I like their food as well, although the last time was just okay. Not sure if it is the same chef. Curlz, try this Casual Cuban restaurant. Not as ecclectic a menu, but I think you will like it.
  13. I used to live down there, have not been to the Cuban places in quite sometime..but...my friends still go to Mi Bandera at 518 32nd St., Union City. They have a hispanic grocery and bakery, and the restaurant is on top. It has been there for years.
  14. It is better than many of the little places in Union City...more delicate in my opinion. The places in Union City are for hearty stews, meats and the like. I guess it depends on what you are in the mood for.
  15. A friend and I went here last night on Jan's review. We were very impressed. The place is a little nicer than a typical cafeteria...not a lot of ambience, but okay. It was busy for a Thursday night in Hackensack. We noticed there was one waitress on duty...she was nice enough, but rushed. Ben, the owner/chef came out and introduced himself. He brought us out an appetizer of pork with mixed rice and beans. I don't eat pork, but my hispanic friend said that it was very good, very typical. She really enjoyed it. We started with a salad with avocadoes. It was mixed greens with a great lite dressing...quite enjoyable. I had the tilapia encrusted with plantains &rice&beans (10$), and my friend had the chicken special (chix w/creamy garlic sauce) (9$) with rice and tostones. My dish was the winner, although my friend enjoyed her chicken too. The beans were very good, very typical as well. The tostones were also good. Hopefully he will be able to gauge how busy they are and have another waitress on busy days (we had to ask for water several times, and it came out too late), but aside from that Ben came over often to see if we were happy, and the waitress was doing her best. We will definitely be back soon.
  16. For breakfast/brunch Teaism is good and well priced. We tried a tapas place across 7th Street from the movie theater/Verizon Center. It was good and not too expensive. We also loved Zengo, next to the Verizon Center. Thank you for those suggestions. I would enjoy all of those choices...not so much my partner. He would sit there with a sour look on his face while I ignore him and enjoy
  17. You guys are great! Thank you. I made a reservation at Corduroy...He will have to suck it up Any breakfast, lunch ideas? Breakfast near the hotel, lunch near the museums. Thanks again. Joana
  18. Not being food oriented, he does not like to spend a lot on food...so on the low end. He is a meat in potatos guy, without eating any meat except chicken. He would be happy with grilled chicken and a potato..yes. The corduroy menu looked great, but the food prep would be too fancy for him..sadly. So chinatown sucks? Too bad.
  19. Thank you for that suggestion...and it looks like a great place for me, sadly not for him. Some place less fancy if possible.
  20. I will be visiting DC Easter weekend with my non-foodie partner. I was hoping for some recommendations that would suit both of us...he is quite picky, I enjoy good food. We are staying near the White House at the Hilton Garden Inn...any help would be most appreciated. We stayed here before, and especially on the weekends found ourselves in a restaurant wasteland. Also, any good Chinese recommendations in Chinatown? Thank you. Joana
  21. We went to the Teaneck Kabob House the other night. I was very disappointed. We had gone months ago, and it was okay. Thought we would try it again. The food was alright, the portions were tiny...and we ordered mostly vegetarian. The chicken kabob tasted funny...could not put my finger on it..but not freshly prepared in my opinion. We ordered the eggplant dish, and the squash dish. Both were okay, but the portions were so small we each got a tablespoon or so. The bread was good, salad okay, the special rice was good and what we filled up on. We were three people, three entrees, and a spoonful of each was all we could share...and not inexpensive for middle eastern food either. All in all, the food was just alright, nothing great, and not a place I will ever return to.
  22. They are open 7 days a week from 4-1pm. Call to make sure.
  23. eye rolling = attempt at humor...
