  2. sorry I missed the clue.....I thought at first you were describing a late night personal experience ← Yes, looking back at that post I did it would appear that could be the case! It wasn't that wild of a night for me!
  3. potatoe chips dipped in champagne "it's real crazy" who said this in a truly great movie!
  4. Aloha no! This is like the most fun thread ever - for me anyway! You all are such great players! I just got back from a meal that hit notches unknown at Roy's in Hawaii Kai, the "flagship" of the empire. I am overfed, overwatered and thinking..... "....have you ever tried it - it's real crazy!" Potato chips dipped in champagne (sp!)" it's late for you all, 'early' for us HST after a 3 1/2 hour meal see you all in the AM - a hui hou
  5. I am slapping myself as I should have guessed this! You're right, it is the Apartment. Great movie, Jack Lemmon and Shirley McLaine were such a great team! That spaghetti scene was brilliant!
  6. Ooh ! Ooh ! My favourite kind I thought it was cheese balls, but: Rain Man Fish sticks - "You want eight ?" (chop !) "there's eight" Maple syrup on the table before the pancakes come, and multiple cheese balls and orange soda mentions ← You're right! I got confused thinking about how i wish I had some cheetoes myself! Yes, it's Rain Man! Great job! A hui hou
  7. Here's another also: "Turn me over I am done on this side." this one is easy: cheetoes, fish sticks, orange soda & pancakes last: "it's an East Indian Classic my dear, chicken, rice and chocolate sauce."
  8. I think the restaurant attempted to and did in my opinion "Fix and over fix" the situation which is what we always did in the stores I ran. I would think their preferred dry cleaner was very good at stains of all types from their repeat business with said restaurant. I have a good friend who is GM of a very popular rest. here and she wears these incredibly expensive designer tops on the floor and has them dry cleaned and I am sure that where she gets it done has seen it all from her work related incidents. I agree that the patrons friends would not follow suit and stop dining there the patron sounds like some people I have known that no matter what something would happen to them wherever they were and whatever the outcome wasn't right. I think the place did a good job of handling the situation. Where is it? I'll go when I come to Illinois! I think they could handle anything! a hui hou!
  9. #11. Sabrina - Audrey Hepburn. "Too high, too low, an exaggeration, much too low, ahhh, Baron perfection, MUCH TOO LOW" the Baron explains that a woman happy in love she burns the souffle a woman unhappy in love forgets to turn on the oven. Another favorite is the olives scenes as they go on in the movie as the father drinks his ever present martini.
  10. Quenched down with their HoJo Cola!
  11. Yes! we got one of those pizza stones for the grill that our friend Jeanne has who is the NS Big Wave tomato farmer and we're making fresh pizza tonight! Carrots are coming soon so be on the lookout, this week they were still not tall enough. Check out Growing Creations herbs and plants, gorgeous stuff! We had a party with some of the farmers from the market at KCC and it was a most magical event! The beets still are great too! I had some typos! sorry! Oh, it's not working for the keyboard! A hui hou
  12. YES Yes!!!!!!!!!!!! Brilliant! Here's another......! ".....tonic water & clam juice, but THEY AIN'T COLD!!!!!!!" Congratulations petite tete de chou! Lost In America! A classic! What about from the same movie "Florida! I got Florida!!" A hui hou! ← The Out of Towners. One of the few movies with Ricardo Montalban's( ) brother. ← YES YES!!!!! And do you remember what he prefaced this with? It was priceless! We are enamourmed of you at this point! Higs and I are in your honor! That whole scene was priceless, so now we know the movie but remember.... "Is it possible to get hot food in thirty minutes, no it's not possible.......' What about the cracker jack scene and the eating of the apple from the fruit basket compliments of the manager? Bravo! Petite tete de chou! a hui hou!

  14. Naperville, Il where I grew up was the home of Cock Robin and I think (trying to remember) how many of these places there were in the area (Du Page and Kane county, maybe others). They made the ice cream there, a friend of mine was on the graveyard shift which allowed for him to make ice cream and get altered at the same time with no one else there....anyway they had little shops that served really rotten hamburgers and fries and most memorably in a deep freezer case cones of 3 different sherbets that were rock solid and scooped up in their square ice cream scoop. They had many flavors of ice cream and I remember when the batch of strawberry exploded all over an it was a river of pink. Now where it was is a beautiful park with a big water fountain named after the Fredehagen's who were some sort of founding family of the town.
  15. Maybe you could ring up the Kapiolani Community College culinary arts program and see if they have an idea for you. They teach a basic knife skills to the public in addition to their curriculum so possibly that would be helpful to find what knives you want.
  16. #6 "Sleepless in Seattle" Tom Hanks describing his late wife's love of peeling apples to the radio talk show host.
  17. Aloha Kakahiaka Megan! I look forward to your blog! Your posts always are fun to read. As I sit here wearing my Uggs (violet), sweat pants and sweatshirt for it's cold here this morning your New York week will be great to share! I have heard so much about Dylan's Candybar I look forward to pictures. I don't eat candy myself (were it Dylan's Potatobar that would really get me) I have heard it's a beautiful place. Your week activities look like fun and I can't wait for the posts! A hui hou!
  18. I'm not too worried about your world plans but another place to try would be Y.Hata on Sand Island Rd. off Nimitz Hwy. You could take a bus from where the ship docks. Anyway it's a restaurant supply store with lots of great things including knives, coats, pants, pots, pans etc. etc. etc. I am sure you will have an interesting experience on the ship, you should write periodically about the ups and downs of it all. Good luck and a hui hou!
  19. I try to use a knife but it doesn't work so well for me. I have 3 peelers so usually at least one is clean. I must practice! I usually get flesh with the skin and it's sort of a waste. As I type a chameleon just snagged a bug from the orchid outside and I doubt he has such considerations!
  20. I don't agree. You'll notice that this board is relatively low key in terms of threads/posts for some reason.
  21. Oh my, I remember going to both Mr. Steak and Ponderosa. Both had steak that now I probably would never consider eating, both had a wonderful soft "texas toast" that I ate tons of and mediocre baked potato. Mr. Steak had a good cheeseburger too. In Illinois there were Fred Harvey's in the oasis' above the tollway that we stopped at enroute to and from Milwaukee. They had these neat vending machines with all kinds of fun little trinkets and toys that I always had to have one of. Funny, I can't recall what I ate there though. Probably orange soda with whatever it was. I too liked Big Boy, we'd drive to Downer's Grove and sit in the car and eat on Ogden Avenue, the paper around the namesake sandwich getting all mushy from the famous sauce. Now that I would eat again! I liked the Big Boy hairdo on the statue!
  22. ".......and a microwave that browns!.......melted cheese, ummmmm I don't think I EVER tasted melted cheese before."
  23. Geez, that was the first one that popped into my mind when I read the first post! Yes, Dog n Suds! Also similar but not as fun, A&W Root Beer stand. I was thinking too that the Magic Pan for crepes was quite fun in it's day.
