Has it definately been decided Rocco is the permanent replacement? I've heard Micheal Lomonico and David Rosengarten as guest hosts also. The WOR 710 Website says a permanent replacement for schwartz is still being sought.

I figure that the vinegar would acidify the jars to the point any possible botulin issues would be prevented, but am wondering if the chiles might shield the inner stuffing from the vinegar. It would seem the stuffing is not very acidic to start... Always get concerned when fresh veggies are stored in oil...

Atomic Buffalo Turds Ingredients: • 2 lb Jalapeno's - fresh 2 -3 inches each (approx 30 count) • 2 8 ounce pack of Cream Cheese • 2 lb Bacon (may not use all) • 1.5 lb Pulled Pork Preparation Directions: • Wash, remove stems and half jalapeno's lengthwise. Only cut the stem off, don't cut the end of jalapeno off to remove the stem. Remove seeds and veins (leave veins in if you would like a hotter ABT). Use left over pulled pork, or prepare a small shoulder (2lb) for this. Besides pulled pork you can use any meat. Hamburger, or wedges of italian sausage work well also. Cut lengths of bacon strips just long enough to wrap around jalapeno half about twice. Fill jalapeno halfs with cream cheese, top with a small amount of pulled pork and wrap the whole thing with a peice of bacon. I usually hold bacon on top of end of jalapeno and wrap around the middle and come back up over top at other end. Hold bacon ends in place with ½ toothpick each end. Cooking Directions: • Get cooker at 325deg steady. You are wanting to get bacon cooked without burning up the jalapeno's. I use a raised grid, and place the jalepeno's on a veggie rack allowing for easy removal when done. Smoking these are even better. Maple wood and Hickory work well. Allow 30 - 40 minutes for bacon to be done. Check them half way through and rearange as necessary to prevent any hot spots burning any. Special Instructions: • Cream cheese will not melt out unless the jalepeno is tipped over. After removing from grill let them set for about 10 minutes to let the bacon crispen up. Otherwise eat as soon as you are able to. Have a drink ready.

Commercial pork has not had a problem with trichinosis infestation for at least the past 50 years. The only source of domestic trichinosis in the US is the consumption of wild carnivores/omnivores such as bear, walrus and boar. I cook my pork to medium rare as the industries effort at 100% lean pork results in shoe leather if cooked anything past that.

I've never understood how putting potatoes on a hotdog makes it Italian. Wouldn't that be an Irish hotdog? In my mind an Italian hotdog would have onions peppers, marinara and mozzerella...

What about the A1 steak sauce ads that defy physics? The janitor is in a centerfuge attempting to get the last drop of A1 out of the bottle, you can see the effects of the centerfuge pushing his face back against his seat. Then, while holding the bottle and forkfull of meat (In itself would not be possible with forces involved), you see the drop of A1 go from one side to the other instead of back to the rear of the chamber. Am I the only one that detects these physical anomalies? Yeah, I need to get a life...

Also in Monmouth County is Rays Seafood in Little Silver. Great seafood at reasonable prices. it's one of my favorite haunts... Also The Navesink Fishery off Rt. 36 in Atlantic highlands is good. My favorite Pt. Pleasant spot is Spikes, another shack-like place.

Jim Leff was on yesterday, plugging Chowhound, any chance that you or Fat Guy may take the helm anytime soon? Even be a guest?

For years I've been annoyed by the Total cereal commercials. The "You'd have to eat 4800 bowls of Colon Blow to equal the vitamins..." ones I've wished for years that some vitamin company would parody them. I can picture it... "You know, you'd have to eat 7.6 million bowls of Blork Nuggets to equal..." "Hey genius, I take a daily Mega Dose vitamin, so I can eat any damn thing I want to for breakfast or any other meal for that matter! Now get the F*ck outta my face and take that goddamn bowl of bitter tasting extruded sawdust flakes with you!"

In Red Bank you might want to check out Wayne's market on West Front street across from the Downtown Cafe. If you want a much wider selection of such products and are willing to travel a bit you should check out Delicious Orchards. It is about a 10 mile drive west out in Colts Neck on Rt.34. I can spend hours in that place just wading thru all the produce, cheese samples and exotic food products.

Well, I finally saw this thread, and here it is, Thursday night. Had I been able to respond in a timely manner I'd have recommended Osaka down by the river in Marine Park, weather permitting. It's an outdoor venue with excellent Japanese cuisine. Otherwise I'd have recommended Buona Sera on Maple Ave and Monmouth st. Probably my favorite Italian spot in Monmouth County.

If you crack open a half million or so eggs into a swimming pool, weight yourself with cinder blocks and jump in you will most certainly drown. I hate it when that happens!

Some adds and updates for this year: Navesink Cafe in Irwins Marina off of Marine Park in Red Bank that was run by Rivers Edge Cafe last summer and sold overpriced snack bar food has been replaced. The venue is now run by Osaka Japanese restaurant that has other locations in Ft. Lee and Toms River. I've been there 5 or 6 times this summer hand am quite impressed. Great sushi, sashimi, tempura and other Japanese staples with a great view of the Navesink river. Parkhill's in Loch Arbor. Good food and a great view of Asbury Park across the lake (Always seems to be a nice breeze). Don't feed the freeloading duckletts...

Is Lowell going to post the picture of the table with 3000 wine glasses on it?

Okay, the other reason I am reluctant is that it is a bit of a drive from Hopewell (probably over an hour) and I have to work on Saturday morning (not too early, but still...). Is anybody else coming from this area that is willing to carpool, or is everyone mostly in NNJ? Thanks for the warm welcome! Hey, I'm coming from down by Red Bank, so don't let distance be a deterrant. (well, working Saturday morning,,, I'll have to concede that one) So, are the directions to this shindig still a secret?
