    Bonefish

Looks like they have themselves a huge money maker.. I have never been to an Outback and most likely wont ever go to Bonefish.. But it looks to be one of the nicest chains I have ever seen.. Mortons, Palm and Ruth's Chris aside..
  3. Majestic Lunch 1133 Elizabeth Avenue Elizabeth NJ I was parking in the lot of the El Salvadorian place when from across the street I spotted Majestic Lunch.. As you can see from the photo, its hard to pass this up. It might have bothered me all weekend if I didnt go in to try this chili dog they speak of. This place could easily be called the Majestic Diner as well.. It is a long narrow place with a huge counter space... Besides chili dogs and burgers they have a huge selection.. They have daily specials, pork chops, breakfast, everything under the sun.. Its worked by an old sweet Greek couple who have to be in there late 70's early eighties.. Place looks like a lot of things could be really good.. Started out with a chili dog with mustard and onions.. The chili is fanastic.. Really peppery, meaty, it goes really well with the mustard.. The dog is a grilled Sarbrets... The bun is right out of the package.. I am willing to put this against Tom or Jerry's chili dog.. The burger was served with cheese and grilled onions.. The bun was grilled.. It was a real decent burger.. Nothing really to it, not flavored, just a grilled patty.. The onions were fried well.. No bells and whistles, just a good honest burger.. Those two things and a coke.. $4.30.. Place makes a really good chili dog.. Would love to hear other peoples opinions or suggestions as to what else to order there.. Edit: First week back from Roadtrip.. Might have to get back into the dry turkey sandwich no beer mode for a little bit.. Things are starting not to fit so good..
  4. Wow!!! Thats a serious bbq.. Great pictures too... Looks like it was a lot of fun....

    Shake Shack

Slkinsey, I agree with you in terms of the double to single burger.. After work I met my girlfriend who was eating a single burger and a chocolate shake.. The single does have a much better ratio.. Also that shake was excellent.
  6. Getting most of my breakfast sandwiches out of a literal hole in the side of a building in Elizabeth, NJ there is no shortage of Taylor Ham in my life. Isnt it called pork roll outside of The Jerz..
  7. Hey thanks for the recs.. I see La Isla in my near future..

    Shake Shack

Working on 27th street today I was happy to be able to go there for lunch today.. I went at 11:15 to ensure quick service.. For some reason I just find the place so, so.. Dont like the fries, the burger is good, but no better then most peoples backyards.. Would i wait more the 10 minutes for a burger, not a shot.. Anyway, Danny Meyer has proven again he runs Madison Square Park.. He has a huge TV Screen with stadium seating for people to watch the US Open... He has a Tabla and a Blue Smoke Stand, as well as other things.. He is really such a great addition to what was once a disgusting area.. And if he can make money too, well then good for him..
  10. I would say that pasta is good for several reasons.. Energy, cost, and ease are just a few.. I would bang out trays of lasagne can go white or red sauce, spinach or meat.. A big salad, garlic breads, stuffed shells, trays of chicken cutlets, and eggplant parm or rollatini..Eggplant goes a long way too.. ....Maybe some baked or bbq'd wings...

    Dinner! 2005

Thanks for putting that BBQ Shrimp recipe up.. Took bread and hollowed it out.. After brining the shrimp for 30 minutes I added it to the really tastey sauce.. Then stuffed about a pound of shrimp and sauce per sandwich.. Sorry the photos are so bad.. Must have gotten steamed up.. The sandwich stayed intact and was awesome.. Stuffed all the way to the nub.. There were like 6 shrimp in the last bite.. One of the better sandwiches going..
  12. Hoping to find a great Mexican place in Hoboken.. I havent really found one in Manhattan.. Was just wondering if there was a place worth comming over for this Saturday afternoon for some tequila and a great lunch.. Finding the tequila part is not my first worry..

    Indus Valley

Perhaps I should explain what the air of upscale is.. There are white table clothes, the servers are dressed up, and you have several different managers wearing suits, but the customers are in everything from jeans and sneakers, to business casual...
  14. Indus Valley. 2636 Broadway (100th st) 212-222-9222 Indus Valley is solid Indian Restaurant located in my area.. I have been enjoying their delivery service for about a year now.. Recently, I went to there for the first time.. I have pretty much eaten everything on the menu, from lamb to cauliflower, this place is really good.. The restaurant is comfortable with an air of upscale.. The waiters are dressed more formal then any of its clientele, but no attitude.. We started with the Seekh Kabab.. Lamb with garlic, ginger, coriander.. Great flavor, great texture, really nice.. We also started with Paneer Hariyali.. This is paneer served cold in a mint, garlic, chile, sauce.. Very refreshing, the paneer was really firm and fresh tasting. The next four dishes were: Lasooni Gobhi(Cauliflower), Kheema Matar (lamb), Some shrimp dish, and Chicken Tikka. The chicken tikka is awesome.. Its one the better versions I have had.. RealLy creamy sauce.. The Kheema Matar is another stand out dish.. This is mixture of peas, lamb, cinnamon, caramoms, green peppers, and onion that gets cooked for awhile.. It forms like a stew thick chili like consistancy.. It goes so well with rice.. The flavors are really layered, getting bits of cinnamon, or the green pepper, or the meaty lamb. The shrimp was under seasoned.. Whatever spices they put on didnt stick to the shrimp.. I could have done with out this dish.. This one I didnt picture.(Lasooni Gohbi)Florets fried with sesame sauec, and garlic, ginger.. It had a carmelized coating.. Is this place a destination spot.. Hmm.. I would say if i wanted indian food and was with in 30 blocks north or south, I would go here..Also if you live with in the delivery area this is your new place.. The food comes quickly and travels very well..

    Dinner! 2005

Made a sandwich on ciabatta with prosciutto, mozzerella, my own pesto, and grilled artichoke hearts.. Pressed it for awhile.. Served with seafood salad, and lemon oil tomato basil salad.. Pics are ok.. It was great.. The key was really flatening out the sandwich before putting on the grill.. The bread was super crispy..

Wow.. You happen to know which brand...
  22. Went to Grand Sichuan last night.. Just wanted tell of a great dish I had for the first time there.. Got the Crispy Quail.. It was just fried quail on a bed of lettuce.. It was excellent.. Highly seasoned, crispy, they used a light batter.. This might be NY's best fried chickenish /quail..
  23. Wow.. What great use of all that comes your way.. I am loving watching this chowder be made.. It looks and sounds ridiculous... You got a pot of love, going on right there brother.. Any recipe that starts with eating lobster for the shells sounds good to me.. Awesome..
  24. Its such a pleasure to read this.. You are really providing such a great account, thanks for sharing your experience.. Really looking forward to hearing more about the lobster trap and other fisherman insights..
  25. Just got home after leaving New Orleans yesterday.. Willie Mae's is the best fried chicken I have ever eaten.. Cooked up by Willie Mae's son, served to me by Willie's great grand daughter, randomly driven home in a taxi by her other son, it was an amazing meal... This woman holds the secrets to the universe. I pray for hers and everyone elses safety..
