  1. Hey Johnny, Do you happen to know the name of the place? Never saw that movie.. Staying on main st.. Is it close by?
  2. Thanks for the suggestions.. Besides spending 400 bucks a night at the Yankee Clipper.. Can anyone suggest a place stay..
  3. Soprano's Pizza 228 Second ST. Elizabeth NJ 07206 908-353-8000
  4. Sopranos 228 Second St. 353-8000 A very interesting place. They really try to cater to the diverse neighborhood. Offering salads, wraps, sandwiches, Portugese BBQ, traditional and non-traditional pizzas, and subs.. I ordered from the Brazilian Pizza Section.. Fried chicken, corn, and catupiry... The pizza was really good.. Crunchy, airy and interesting.. Loved the sweet corn, the cheese, all mixed with the creaminess of the Catupiry.. Highly recommend a visit for this pizza..
  5. Here is something not too traditional.. I am sure this will disgust both Brazilians and Italians.. Say what you want, its good.. Chicken, corn and Catupiry pizza... The crust is airy and crunchy.. The chicken is fried perfectly. .Goes really well with the corn and the creaminess of catupiry.. Very nice..

Went there this evening.. The first time in a couple of months.. Must say, the place is as good as always.. They do have interesting specials, but they havent changed the menu in some time.. This really isnt that big of a deal for most people, but for to be greedy, a seasonal menu would be heaven.. Started with the prosciutto and fig.. We then had the halibut in lemon sauce and a pasta with fried eggplant and mozzarella.. All simply excellent.. Best tiramisu in the city? You make the call..

I have eaten it in restaurants only.. Looking at a recipe that calls for pork belly.. I am ordering it off a food webiste, Fresh Direct and dont see it as an option.. I am curious if it would go by any other name. I.E Filet Mignon to Tenderloin or something to that affect.. Thanks..

    Dinner! 2005

Tonight my suitest made fish tacos.. Funny enough, as I stated last night, I was going to make tacos with the remaining cod I had.. This morning, as I went to leave my building, my doorman handed me a bag of blue corn tortillas.. This was completely unexpected and never discussed.. Must be fate.. Cholula Tortilla I guess? 718-832-8236?? She made beer battered twice fried cod and a lime corn salad, with red onion, cilantro and jalapeno.. You can also see my home made pickled jalapeno and carrot salad, and some cut up cabbage.., And of course a little sangri-utz Here is a close up of the corn salad.. Really refreshing and pretty.. The taco was awesome.. I cant think of a better sauce for fish tacos then Sriracha and sour cream.. Such a great combo!!! .. Best fish taco I have ever had.. Lovely.. For dessert she made a coconut flan.. More of a pudding then a flan.. Call it what you want.. It was great.. Had a little crust and then was soft puddin under neef.
  15. Either way.. you are the big winner because the place was excellent..
  16. Percyn: So excited to read your blog.. I really enjoy the food you make and post.. That duck is gorgeous... My vote: Is for anything Amish..
  17. Its hard to watch after reading Anthony's Books, even more so after hearing K.C on tape.. And now I have to watch some tool bag do some glammed up boring version of actual events..
  18. I beg to differ.. I was at this location and took these photos in June.. Real Chili 449 State St. 608-442-9732
  19. Has anyone mentioned Real Chili? Place would be my go to during those Wisco Winters... Brrrr. Chili is made by the owner who drives from his original restaurant 2 hours just to make it himself.. And they got taters....
  20. Thanks Daniel for the great review (and BBQ Porn) of a place not too far from where I live. I'll have to check it out. However, ...................... No fair rolling through my hometown and not stopping by to say hello! Really, though, as everyone else here has said thanks for taking us along on your journeys. With everything going on in NOLA and other parts South, this roadtrip has been very special indeed. ← Thanks for reading Diva.. I would definately tell you to go to Dixie Bones for the Sunday AYCE.. Great deal.. I still feel really lucky to have been to N.O so recently.. But more importantly, I am really lucky to have been able to leave when I did. We were really so close to being stranded..
  21. I must say, Steven has been a huge help on these trips.. We call him Steve-Star.. Our mobile concierge.. I will call him at like 2 am and be in the middle of Tennesse and ask him for a name of a burger place.. Or a place in D.C that has Chili in the name, or the place in Pittsburg that sounds like pizzaioli.. And he is quick on the Price-Line hotel reservations too.. Thank you for your help Steve-O.. Not into N.O Acme... Too popular.. If a place is famous for serving raw oysters, there has to be a lot of hype involved.. And definately.. Those damn fire ants definately fired up the bronchitis.. Like Henry HIll in Goodfellas, "I am legitamately bronchial" Thanks again Steven..
  22. So stupid the things people waste there time on.. They should call the town Las Chiles perhaps..

    Dinner! 2005

Staying with the Southern Table Cookbook.. I made a quail salad, the codfish in clam chowder, and a strawberry mascarpone tart.. Crostini with mascarpone, baby arugula, bacon, white pepper and cauliflower Quail salad.. Baby Arugula with sherry vinegarette, egg, bacon, and fried breast and legs de-boned.. Pan fried cod fish served over clam chowder with yukon gold potato and chevril.. His strawberry marscapone tarte.. The crust was really simple and super buttery, only had it sit for an hour before baking it.. Made a strawberry jam and put it over the orange marscapone, then put a glaze over the strawberrys.. Very good and so simple.. Really starting to like this cookbook a lot, however with the left over cod, I see fish tacos in my near future..
  25. I think its down.. I just went there and it says not found.
