  7. Sorry, but no.He left in in because he fucked up, didn't listen to me, and " thought" he had got all the bacon out of the pan.
  8. Tonights blunder was a lady asking for the scallops without the bacon, and finding 3 tiny pieces of bacon in her dish. She made no mention of our mistake, just left them on the side of the plate. For some reason this mistake really pissed me off, and i gave the chef who had prepared it a few choice words. The lady was not at all put out by our mistake, but as i believe the reason she asked for no bacon was possibly on relgious grounds, i went ape shit.Tomorrow we had a guest with a severe nut allergy, so a mistake like tonights could be very bad indeed. The chef in question has learnt a lesson tonight.
  9. Andy, your dog can stay with me if your struggling
  10. No but with all these guests visiting, who knows
  11. Andy, i was after it first Changed my mind, when i realised that i didn't want that kind of stress and that amount of borrowing The owners used to have No 6 in Middle Street, a proven restauarant in Padstow. Maybe Rick could answer your question, if he's reading this????
  12. Fat Guys mention of a record breaking day promted me to share my day.Today we fed more people than we have ever fed.....ever! We don't normally resit tables, but for a local gallerys exhibition, we did. A 2 course lunch for £15 proved very popular, so we did 2 sittings of 18 people.I did not set up our little deli display this morning, as we needed the table, but regulars were coming in all day for Bread, olives etc etc. Fully booked tonight with 22, mostly people who had been before, so a very good atmosphere.Children on one table were making thank you cards for us, and drawing pictures, very sweet! Also did a take away dinner for 4 people. The Ebb, a new restaurant opened tonight, called in after service to wish them luck.I know that sounds crazy, but their builders only left at 6.20pm, first guests arrived at 7.20pm, so i thought they had enough to do without me bugging them.Have not seen a menu, but the place looks fantastic. Its in the old "Brocks" premises, for those than know Padstow. Will keep you posted when i get a chance to try it myself. Also noticed that the lights were on at Ripleys in St Merryn, so i guess they are open again after thier building work.So the scene here is buzzing! and the sun shone all day only downers are my feet are killing me, and my extraction system at work is playing up, but these are only minor irritations on a very Good Friday in Cornwall Cheers
  13. Not that i have heard about Andy. Something definatly fishy about it me thinks
  14. Fern Britten, the original host of this show, before she married one of the celeb chefs and got different job presenting a morning show, crushed my wife behind the door of our Bistro. That is all
  15. I have been following this story in Private Eye for the last month, and even managed to get permission from the Eye to reproduce their articles here, but due to time restrants, i have failed to do so.No matter, for now the whole case is online at the defendants own website Free The Lowick One I have no connection with Mr Monks, but i was 2nd chef at this pub in the late 80s, well before all this took place.
  16. Do you feel some customers have too much expectation of superstar chefs. Our local "celebrity " restaurant has some guests who ,IMHO ,are expecting a religious experience, not a well cooked dinner.
  17. Very true LML, we have had skate delivered just a couple of hours after being caught, and it cooked up weird

  19. Pasties are the nipple covering on exotic dancers. Sometimes with tassles swinging 'round. I guess you can still ask for ketchup with them. Thank you for that....i would take a guess that they would taste better than the average pastie we get round here
  20. I don't analyise figures...but just by talking to the customers and taking the orders, the feedback is that 1/2 size is appreciated. The vast majoirty of people having a 1/2 size would not have had a full size one.
  21. OK Mark...explain what that means please?
  22. Well the first week worked well..lots of sales of 1/2 size desserts, and i don't think its people saving money!
  23. Cornwall UK...pasties...thousand of em,,,run for your life
  24. Another reason people get upset is because eating out is one of rare times that you pay after the event. edit speelling
