  1. If you are going to Atlantico then Mini Bar is the way to go. If you can get a reservation.
  2. It's still there, although I haven'tbeen there in years. I wonder if the crepe place is still around?
  3. Forgot one The prune and olive chicken dish from the Silver Palate (I think). My mother makes it for the holidays to rave reviews every year. I cannot stand the stuff.
  4. My Prince Charming
  5. I've never heard of it either. You might want to check out Jaleo. Also, there is an Irish pub in between the convention center and MCI. I think it's Fado.
  6. Beautiful pics! How did you make the heart in the cappuccino?
  7. This sounds heavenly and perfect for this crappy weather we're having. Add a little Bailey's, some whipped cream. yummmm
  8. brussel sprouts raisins havalah tongue peanut butter and jelly tuna fish
  9. It sounds like the women get the jipped big time. I wish that didn't surprise me.
  10. Nah, I just started a few months ago. Let us know when you are ready! The boxed stuff at Whole Foods is surprisingly good. I wouldn't necessarily use it as soup, but for cooking it works.
  11. So are there White Day decorations different than the Valentine's day decorations? Do they stay up all the way until March? Even I could get sick of that!

    Dinner! 2004

Fettuccine with panchetta fire-roasted tomato sauce finished off with a touch of cream and Parmesan. Baguette with goat cheese
  13. I spent the afternoon simmering panchetta and fire roasted tomato sauce in mine. The last time I was in Italy I had to buy another suitcase for the wine we bought. It was well worth the extra expense!
  14. Teasim, which is in between the Mall and the convention center, is a great spot for breakfast. The tea cured salmon is great. Otherwise, your list looks great. I would recommend looking into Ceiba. Although I haven't gotten over there yet, it has received rave reviews around here. Since you are in the mood for seafood I would check out the happy hour at Old Ebbit. I think it is only Mon.-Thurs. from 3-7 but they have great oyster and clam specials. Don't forget Julia's Kitchen at American History.
  15. One of my favorite veggies!! I love watching people try them for the first time when they realize it tastes just like peas. If I had a garden I would give this a try. I wonder how hard they are to grow?
  16. I've always wondered, when you make pot brownies does it smell like pot or brownies? How long do the brownies keep?
  17. I'm a little confused Do the men get away with not giving anything at all or is it just the chocolates? Is dining out as big of a deal as it is in the US?
  18. Is it as big a deal over there as it is here? Do they celebrate it similiarly?
  19. My great grandfather tore the guts outta his grandfather clock during prohibition (n.b. he was a fairly high ranking officer in the Army)... it now belongs to my grandfatherm who has rebuilt it to a working clock once again. He did, however, put me on the list to get it as inheritence, with specific instructions to revert it to its old uses. ~m A close friend of mine inherited hers and hates it. I helped her find a place for it when she moved into her house. When I finally have a place big enough for it she has proimesd it as a house warming gift.
  20. Not sure if he used Wonderbread, but my Swedish step-grandfather used to say this was a dessert item in his native land. My mother was treated to it many a time. I spent a summer at sleep away camp eating butter sugar sandwhiches on Jewish rye. It's now a comfort food
  21. Any advice for us Larb making virgins? Can you do without any of the ingredients?
  22. That's it exactly. Don't know why I didn't bother to search there except sheer laziness. As a garlic addict, I also have to throw in some. Will occasionally add some Italian or Anaheim peppers to give it a little kick but not make it too hot. The book has it served not just with the gremolata, but a really creamy risotto. Personally I find the combination a little too rich and instead serve with some basic wild rice, but to each their own. I am probably risking my egullet membership by asking this but..... How is Osso Buco when made with lamb instead of veal?
  23. Weclome to egullet roaddc The wings at Clyde's, at least the Chevy Chase branch, are surprisingly good.
  24. For me it was wet, greasy food. Cheeseburgers, but no bun. Pizza, but not the crust. Pasta swimming in sauce. Guacamole without the chips. Chocolate fondu (made in the dorm microwave). Korean noodle soup my roommate's mother made. ahhhh, the good old days.
  25. make that unsweetened pink grapefruit juice bought a can and have gone through about half of it by tonight since this am what the h___? It's OJ for me. If I start craving OJ I know I am getting sick Otherwise I HATE oj. Other things I crave on a regular basis: Oysters on the half shell natto sashimi hot dog with sauerkraut vanilla latte
