Yep, I'm coming from DC. I would love to find a good Korean market. Around here they are all out in the burbs so I don't get to one as often as I like. Thanks for all of the suggestions, these are great. What about pizza? Anything close to what I could get up in NY? DC pizza is just pathetic.

I had the honor of being the Cultured Pearl's first lunch customer last month. The menu consists of mainly sandwhiches and wraps, if I remember correctly. The only soup that was served was the miso soup. The quality of the fish was excellent but unfortunately it was lost to other flavors. I ordered two different rolls (can't remember which, sorry) and both were fine. But the ingredients other than the fish powered each roll. I ended up deconstructing the rolls and eating the fish seperately so I could enjoy it. I am having a hard time imagining an Indian restaurant down there, but then agian who would have thought a Russian caviar joint would last more than one season?

I am going to visit squashblossom who runs the farm connected with Rats. These suggestions are great. It being spring she hasn't had time to really check out the food scene. What about food shops? I know Wegmans in near by, but I would love to know about the little gourmet shops that are around. Thanks for all of your help

When I went back to school last year I had Chipolte every Tuesday night. Barbacoa, no beans with guac. If I needed variety I had the soft tacos instead. Wish the rice had more taste and there was a salsa bar ala BF. The only time I finish one is when I missed the previous meal. I have a friend that eats two at a time.

Wow - I was not aware that having your pets with you was considered un-american. Sounds like something Governor Erlich & Comptroller Schaefer would come up with . Erlich and multiculturalism[ That was not my point. My point was that in Europe it is part of the culture to bring Fido to dine with you. It is not part of the culture here. Would you bring Fido with you when dining at Citronelle or Clyde's? I doubt it.

For some unexplicable reason people in my life keep moving to Princeton. I've decided to deal with my fate of spending some serious time there by discovering the food scene. What do I need to know, where do I need to shop/eat? Are the farmers markets up and running yet? Gourmet shops I can't miss? Some whole in the wall that caters to students that has great _________. I know Wegman's is there, but I prefer to go the nonchain route. Help me keep my stomach happy while in NJ!

Unless I am mistaken, no one has complained that dogs are dirty. There are just those of us who are tired of dog people feeling like Fido can and should go where ever they do. If I wanted Fido's company while I dine, I would invite myself over. Not to mention the allergic reaction issue. The last time I checked we had not been annexed. Yet. When traveling in Europe I am aware of the culture and take medication accordingly. It would be presumptuous of me to complain about another culture's customs. But this is still the USA. Which means Fido isn't welcome where I dine.

Bottle went into the freezer when I got home this afternoon. The trick will be remembering it tomorrow morning! I now have enough ideas to get me through the end of the school year and a few picnics this summer. aliwaks I bet your life tastes pretty good. All those gorp combos! I forgot about gorp. I am getting up early to get the supplies needed to whip up a batch for the walk around the zoo. Lunch tomorrow will be one of two things, depending on my stomach. Rice balls with umeshiso if it is not happy and a hunk of cheese, nuttella and a baguette plus an apple if it's not. If it were them iddle of summer I would make the tomato bread salad, but it's worth waiting a month or so to do it right. Thanks for all of the ideas. (Keep your fingers crossed for a freak cold front!)

Tomorrow it is supposed to be in the high 80's and of course I am spending the day at the zoo. I have to bring a lunch that will fullfill my food snob needs but will not go bad either. Obvious choice is a sandwich, right? Wrong. I am not a big fan of the sandwich when it's not going to be sitting in a hot backpack all day. It will take one look after I pull it out of the bag before I loose my appetite. So here lies my delima. Thought about a hunk of brie and a baguette, but then I had a vision of cleaning melted cheese out of my backpack during a field trip. Would make a pasta salad but I spent last week eating one and am pasta'd out. Help!

Even in an outdoor setting? I can understand people not wanting dogs inside a restaurant, but what about out on a patio or sidewalk? Obviously, I'm a dog lover, but I don't see the harm in that. Think about all the hygeine issues with outdoor dining anyway- pigeons, leaves, cicadas.... Depending on the dog and how close the quarters are, yes, even outside. But for me, that is besides the point. Why does fiddo belong where I am eating?

I have had the same problem with service when I have gone for happy hour. And it wasn't that busy. Glad to hear the oysters were good. My mom and I had mediocre ones in Annapolis.

adrober, don't apologize for your post! Some of us drooled our way through it. So what if you haven't had many fine dining expereinces. So what if you aren't a professional food writer. Chefs across the country are getting their food porn from you. Enjoy it! While you were dining, did you find yourself paying more attention to the food because you knew you would be reporting back to us? When I have great food experiences now I find myself paying more attention so I can describe it here later. Finally, stopping complaining about what time you have to eat there. Just be glad you get to eat there. Then come and share every moment with those of us who are eating vicariously through you.

Real women don't need cookers I am laughing my ass off, by the way. What if you bought your friend a pair of white gloves, so she wouldn't actually have to touch the pig? I may have a pair left over from my junior high ballroom dancing class. Pictures. We want lots of pictures.

What about eunny jangapaloza? I love the Penn Quarter idea. Two suggestions: find out if anything is going on at MCI and time the night accordingly and hit Zatinya's bar. Where will out be in 10 days at 11:59pm? Any thoughts on your first legal drink? Make sure you put the water next to your bed before you go out Otherwise the second day of 21st year is gonna suck.

I had to run into the Safeway on Conn. Ave. last week. I crowning that one the Sad Safeway. The whole tiny, dirty, little place is just sad both in products and atmosphere.

You have to compare it to other DC establishments, not NY. If you are looking for groceries, or a great Italian sub, Litteri's is great.
