I searched first. There's been no threads about Bagels in New Jersey. My two questions: 1) Where are "the best"? 2) While not necessarily "the best," where are the best bagel restaurants? That is, those with tables you can sit at and eat inside the establishment. Is it waitress or cafeteria style? Steamed or Boiled? Kosher or not (can you get a pork sausage & egg bagel sandwich)? Traditional and/or modern flavors? Please do not list diners, Dunkin Donuts, or other places that are not specifically Bagel themed restaurants unless they make their own bagels on premises.

Here's some suggestions for your molds: This one is kind of expensive at $24.95, but the resultant pop may be worth it. Here's a link to another BB where they discussed popsicles. The consensus there seemed to be Tupperware. All I can find on their site is this set of Mickey Mouse inspired molds for $15.49. However, the best source for cheap & functional molds (under $10 including shipping) seems to be eBay. Do a search for Popsicle with and without the words Tupperware, mold or tray. Popsicle Makers, brought up the blue molds by another company, while Ice Tups, brings up only Tupperware items. Include -Mickey to avoid the mouse ears and extra cost. This auction in particular seems to be a good deal, 2 Ice Tups sets (12 pops) with one shipping charge. edit: the blue popsicle maker auction is over and the pic dissapeared.

OK - babblefish.com says it means "enough cheese." Please explain "enough" to someone who's never made this dish before and hasn't had it in many many years. Thank you.

Translation please?

Lovely. I concur with the advice to freeze with a machine (or at least the freeze in a bowl stirring every 1/2 hour method) until at least softly frozen and then pack into molds. However, I have a feeling that by the time you finish all the pudding pops currently in your freezer you'll be over the craving.. Also, with regard to the premade pudding: you could have just stuck a spoon in their already existing cup!

While I don't know them personally, I'm happy for them too. Despite my critique of a couple items, we really enjoy this restaurant. We always seem to go for special occasions and say "we should come here more often."

I especially enjoy KT's fish specials, they are usually excellent. The only thing I don't like on the entire menu is the House Noodles. The pad thai with tofu, while not an authentic Thai pad thai, is a delicious noodle dish. Edit: You guys make me nuts. Now I have to go there tonight!

Well, of course that would get repetitive. However, would including the word "enjoyed" (or not) every once in a while be so hard? Here are two paragraphs from the review in question which I feel could benifit from some subjectivity: Here are the same two paragraphs, with my possible edits in brackets (please note, these do not reflect my actual opinions of the dishes in question):

Painters have been here since Wednesday. Scraping, spackling, sanding, priming complete. Now they're putting on the actual colored paint. Woo Hoo!!!!
-
OK - fritos are on my shopping list for the first meal after the painters are done in the kitchen. I've been craving them for about 6 years - ever since a favorite Mexican restaurant stopped serving brunch. I like to drive Jason nuts by calling them "chilly-killies".

Morris Ave? 287 North to 24 East to 510/Columbia Tpke (Exit 2 - Florham Park - I think that is 2B). Turn left at the light where Treasure Island is on your far right corner, and CVS is on the near left corner and McD's is on the far left corner. Then turn right into the parking lot. It is about 1-2 miles after you turn off of Rt 24.
-
Just to clarify, because I'm confused: The first post of this thread was posted by Suvir, but then he says something that makes me think Jaymes wrote it. Am I missing something?
-
The address is 176 Columbia Tpke, Florham Park. That's the address for the entire strip mall, so refer to the description in the first post for where it is within that. Basically, it is diagonally opposite the parking lot from the McD's. Be careful with the online directions, I think it told me the wrong exit off Rt 24. You want Exit 2 towards Florham Park, not Morristown.

Actually, I have an issue with the review of America. I was looking to see which dishes he is recommending and I couldn't tell if he liked the food or not. For example, read the descriptions of the pumpkin gnocci* and the duck breast. He describes the food fully without giving his opinion. He mentions several dishes have a sweet component without indicating if that is a good or bad thing. He describes the duck, but did he like it? Shouldn't these things be part of the review, or am I missing the point? * I am also tired of seeing gnocci described as "pillow-like dumplings." I'm pretty sure in this day and age, people reading food reviews know what gnocci are.

Last time we were there (see above) I had the cioppino and agree with David Bonom's assessment of it. Perfectly cooked but it lacked something. Next time I'll try a meat dish.

And that odor doesn't have to be body odor. I hate it when a server (or any restaurant staff) has on too much cologne. How much is too much? If I can smell it when you walk by my table, it's too much.

Thanks! I was wondering about "naff" too.

Did you discuss with Roger the cause and objective of the lunch? Perhaps he will work up the menu, a la omakase, and give you a price? I won't be drinking much, but I'm pretty sure we have some sake or soju I could bring for others. Not that price is no object, but I'm not too concerned about the price for this lunch. If anyone has any cost limitations you should speak now (publicly or PM Lou) or be prepared to pay.

Would it have been acceptable to cook your chicken under the broiler instead of using the grill pan? Sometimes you have to improvise.

We ate there more than twice, and my parents enjoy going there with friends too. Try their osso bucco, it's excellent. Rosie: It's BYOB and they tend to comp some afterdinner drinks if you are so inclined.

See the bottom of the first post of this thread. I am maintaining the RSVP list therein.

Sorry folks. Jason and I won't be able to attend after all. Have fun and be sure to post all about it. We were going to be bringing Italian cheeses, if someone is trying to think of something to bring.

Just to return us to the original question: So is this possible? Has anyone done this?
