  3. are these otherwise known as hot-cross buns? i vaguely remember it from my Anglican upbringing too. But i thought for Easter not Shrove Teusday. (of course i was very young, so what do i know)
  4. i'm a gray's papaya fan, myself. only because it's where i've always gone.
  5. not all together, i hope mabelline. sounds like a recipe for a backside explosion.
  6. how cute.
  7. metamucil uses psyllium husks. they are water attractants. so what it does is give you fiber, which soaks up the water from your food in your small intestine and forms a large soft stool that then gets evacuated because it's large and err..in the way, i guess. i definitely stand by psyllium as the best way to get bowels moving, specifically because ti doesn't work as a laxative, it's softens stool and gives it volume. hell i trusted it enough to go cross-species with it. *lol* i started using it when i was on a true ketogenic diet that limited all carbs including fibrous ones. it's good stuff.

  11. i do have to admit, in the initial throws of agony i'm a non-eater. then that day comes when i reach for guinness stout for breakfast....
  12. oh - as far as diet goes - definitely doritos with hot sauces, and chocolate, and starches of all kinds do it for me.
  13. the best advice i ever got during my last breakup was "the best way to get over a dead dog, is a new dog...." ironically from the new dog, trying to get me to go out with him. it was fun tho, for the fling that it was. i highly recommned rebound love affairs.
  14. ah - just read about the restricted fluid intake. well my cat doesn't drink a whole lot of water either, so he apparently gets the fluids from the food (why i mixed it with canned food in the first place) and either way it works. you don't have to drink any more lfuids than normal for it too work, but he must be getting some sort of fluids in his diet which the psyllium will work with.
  15. psyllium husks. (the same fiber that's in metamucil - minus the flavoring) i suppose you can use metamucil too. either way it adds bulk to the stool, which should increase bowel motility. make sure he drinks lots of wqater, to help the psyllium bulk up. prune juice works too, but at least from my experience more like a laxative. i've actually just had a recent experience with one of my cats, of all things, having a constipation problem. the vet gave him stool softeners, and sure it made his bms softer, but did nothign for volume, so he stayed constipated. i add psyllium husks to his canned food, and now he's got smooth moves every day. and his coat has gotten much better. in any case i would suggest psyllium husk fiber, before going the prune juice route. or perhaps psyllium fiber with water at night - and then prune juice in the morning, so that it really cleans him out that first time.
  16. huh - i thought single late-30s/early-40s female smokers past their prime got dissed in that particular episode.
  17. cheap puerto rican rum and iced tea made forma can. it actually didn't taste that bad, as i recall. my roommate's been drinking green apple vodka mixed with mango gatorade. she says it tastes good - i haven't gotten around to trying it.
  18. *lol* I was thinking the same thing!
  19. what great pictures! your writing was wonderful too monica - thanks for the class!
  20. a big deep double sink. and a hot pink kitchen aid. and an AGA cooker to match. i'd settle for the new sink tho.
  21. you're welcome Ludja - but Sandra posted it - not me. :D
  22. cornish pasties and devon cream teas? Exactly - associated with counties, rather than cities. (And for what it's worth my relatives in Devon get cross about people talking about 'Cornish' pasties - from a Devon point of view they're definitely just pasties )
  23. mmmmm....drumsticks. actually i do remember my mom using veg-all in sambhar and dal a few times. i actually thought it was good when i was younger, but tasting it again with mature taste-buds..mmm, not so good.
  24. mmmm..drumsticks.
  25. i honestly can't remember my mother ever cooking carrots at all. except for anglo dishes.
