The groceries around here are not accepting any returns at the moment. I wonder if she found herself stuck with everything. My coffee table is covered with them! But then again, it usually is 🙂 I got notification that our vegetable share is coming today instead of tomorrow. I guess so many new people signed up that they had to add extra delivery days. Fine with me. I'll post a picture of what I get after it arrives.

We got another grocery delivery today, probably our last from the store for some time as now the delivery windows are crazy backed up and it sounds like Instacart workers are going to strike next week. They had chicken! I could not believe it. I also got all of the Kerrygold butter I asked for (we use a ton of butter). The regular kind is being rationed, but my husband only likes Kerrygold. Things I asked for that were out of stock today: flour (all kinds), yeast (but I got a pound delivered from amazon at scalper prices today so am all set there), garlic, ginger, red cabbage (???), thyme, rosemary, Corn Chex (sad nephew), Annie's mac and cheese (very sad nephew), apples. I did not even try for TP as we are well stocked, or cleaning products, which I am going to need eventually but are hard to come by around here.

It is cold and rainy here, so I decided to make soup for supper. Of course, my family being the way they are, I had to make three kinds of soup for five people 🙄 I made a batch of popovers, acceptable to all For my nephew, black bean soup For my niece, butternut squash-tortilla-chile soup For my husband, my sister, and myself, fish chowder

I placed an online order for delivery from a third local grocery, which was supposed to arrive on Wednesday. For whatever reason, they delivered it yesterday. Luckily it was primarily shelf stable staples so not a problem. Many, many substitutions. I ordered some DeCecco pasta for my nephew, and they delivered a brand I have never heard of instead. I hope it is good because now I have six pounds of it.

We had burgers last night. My husband and nephew each had a waygu burger and a hot dog from Heritage Foods. My sister, niece and I do not eat beef burgers so I made us a quinoa-cannelini bean-chipotle chile burger topped with carmelized onions. They were tasty. The burger buns were homemade. Waffle fries from a bag 🙂

My sister made a scramble for the adults with all of the little bits of vegetables she found in my crisper: broccoli, red onion, mushroom, tomato etc. Tasty and a way to use up some stuff at a time when we are trying not to waste anything.

I got a food order delivered to my house this morning. I received everything on my list with the exception of chicken, yeast, a type of cereal my nephew wanted, and flour. After trying for days, I was able to get a delivery order from Wegmans' set for Sunday evening. Trying again for chicken, but not optimistic. I finally bit the bullet and paid $20 for a pound of yeast on amazon. I also joined a local farm's vegetable share, which delivers to my house starting next Thursday. I can't imagine they have much yet other than greenhouse lettuces and maybe overwintered root vegetables, but it is better than nothing and supports a local farm. King Arthur Flour has their flour back in stock, FYI. Limit two per person.

I just picked up my first curbside order from Wegman's. Order online, and they bring it out and load into your trunk. I was able to get everything I asked for with the exception of chicken. Well, she did throw in one package of boneless chicken thigh cutlets (I did not even know those were a thing), but it is not enough to feed everyone that it staying at my house right now so I put them in the freezer for later, when more chicken is acquired. My list was vegetable heavy and cleaning supply/tp free, which might be why I had such luck. You cannot order wine for curbside but they will deliver it to your house so that is arriving tomorrow. It was exactly noon as my husband and I left, and Trillium brewery is on our route home, so we stopped there and stocked up on good beer. Others were arriving at the same time, but everyone played nice and stood six feet apart. No kids, no coughing people. Husband wore a glove to work the card reader. My next order is coming from another local grocery that will deliver to the house and leave everything in your garage. I'm going to compare the two and decide which I like best for the long haul ahead.

Welcome back! Your meals looks delicious, and congratulations on your boy. Last night my husband, sister, niece and I all had miso roasted salmon with rice noodles in a creamy miso ginger sauce, with pickled carrots and bell peppers Nephew won't eat salmon, so I made him a huge chicken parmesan sandwich and oven fries. He ate the whole thing. He is 21 and has a bottomless pit for a stomach, as most guys that age seem to. He is also thin as a rail. My grocery budget is going to have to vastly expand...

Made some crispy french toast for my niece's breakfast this morning. I'm not a big sweets person in the AM, so plain toast for me.
