Heading over to friends who are having an Oscar Party.

I'm personally not all that into the Oscars, did not see one Best Picture Nomination. Interesting all but one are based on "true" stories. I prefer obscure Indy and Foreign films.

But I am always up to party and since I recommend the wine I know it will be ok.

I'll be back with a report. And would love to hear yours.

At the risk of sounding sexist, I find the Oscars to be a gender thing, that is, er, most men do NOT watch the program. (In my unofficial survey of the men I know) They disappear onto their computer (Like I am doing) and leave the women to stay glued to that (tedious) 3 hour + program. I could never dig up anyone to have a party over it, unless the men & women split up into different rooms...

No true, Me and my 15 & 12 year old boys are watching right now. Homemade pasta, sauce, meatballs & sausage were served. No we're baking cookies and laughing at Ben Stiller's green unitard.

I never found the need to watch the Oscars or any other self serving awards show. That being said I had a suprisingly good prime rib at Charlie Browns yesterday at a birthday I attended. Who'da thunk it?

I watched the pre-Oscars for about 15 minutes last night while waiting for my pizza to bake at Full Moon in the Bronx. It was entertaining to watch these seasoned Italian pizzabakers make fun of the celebs. "eh, you stupid @#$%^ actor! You make-a too much !@#$ing money! Shut the #$% up and get off the carpet!"

I would probably watch the Oscars if I could watch it with food service workers from Arthur Avenue. Maybe with the Cafe al Mercado crew, a bunch of mussels in white wine, broccoli rabe with sausage and a few jugs of homemade wine.

I love you guys, I am happy to know I'm not the only one who wonders in disbelief as I my wife and daughter are glued to such a phony event.

In any case we had a great party.

Food was a strange array of taquitos and guacamole from Costco.

Chips and Salsa from Whole Foods.

A homemade lasagna, roasted chicken from Whole Foods, and salad.

We had some a good Italian and Flying Cloud Cabernet Sauvignon.

Got go.
