Table Hopping With Rosie 8/10

Rosie--

Maybe I missed it in an earlier column, but a friend just told me that La Tartuferia (Hoboken) is closing. Soon.

He speculates that they own the building and someone made them a good offer b/c that part of town is starting to get built up. Wondered if you knew more...? I've never been, but have only heard good things about the place!

"I'm not eating it...my tongue is just looking at it!" --My then-3.5 year-old niece, who was NOT eating a piece of gum

"Wow--this is a fancy restaurant! They keep bringing us more water and we didn't even ask for it!" --My 5.75 year-old niece, about Bread Bar

"He's jumped the flounder, as you might say."

Haven't heard anything and as of today they are open.

Sorry; I should have clarified--they are still open, as he's going there tonight. But as a longtime customer, he was notified by the restaurant that they're closing. He got the impression that it won't be open much longer (i.e., maybe at the end of this month).

Yep!!  They are renovating and will be opening a new place. Will post info as I get it. Thanks for the heads up.

I realize you don't have all the info, but just to clarify, are they (Top Notch) renovating or moving?

Top Notch will be closing. The place will be renovated and there will be a different restaurant with a different menu.

Thanks Rosie.

I'm assuming that Top Notch in Madison will remain open.

Is this true?

a trusted friend recommended this place to me and I was further inspired to try it based on comments here--was going to go this month or Sept--Oh well.......

Jocelyne's has been taken over by Humberto Campos Jr and his fiance. Was there and the food was excellent. Info was on "Chefs On The Move" http://www.njmonthly.com/rosie/chefs.html June 2005. More info will be on Table Hopping With Rosie in a few weeks. Restaurant will become Lorena's on Oct. 1.
