tomorrow evening i'm going to an event at Town Hall. I've never been there before. Any reccomendations for a quick dinner before hand? It's in a weird location in a sea of parking lots, but not far from parts of downtown and first hill.

Right now I'm tending towards Dragonfish, they supposedly have a good happy hour selection (though we might miss that) and must be used to handling pre-event crowds. (and how late are the convention center escalators open?)

If it weren't monday I'd probaly go up to la Spiga.

What's on 1st hill? Another thread mentioned a decent Pho restaurant and George's (polish) deli.

Yeah, that area is a bit strange, been at the Town Hall before and always made it a point to eat elsewhere and take a bus up there afterwards. Anyway, Palomino Restaurant Rotisseria at 1420 5th Ave #350 is pretty good, and they are open on Mondays.

I've been to Dragonfish once and it would take wild horses and a lot of alcohol to get me back. I thought it was truly wretched.

If you want someting quick and casual, I like Otis Cafe, on Boren just north of Madison. Good sandwiches and salads, may offer more in the evening.

If you want something nicer, the Hunt Club at the Sorrento is reliable and you can eat at the bar if you want something quick.

Most women don't seem to know how much flour to use so it gets so thick you have to chop it off the plate with a knife and it tastes like wallpaper paste....Just why cream sauce is bitched up so often is an all-time mytery to me, because it's so easy to make and can be used as the basis for such a variety of really delicious food.

Geneva is across the street, but I wouldn't recommend it. Bambuza, the Vietnamese restaurant at 820 Pike St., would be a good option. I second the recommendation of Otis for funky and informal.

If you eat downtown close to the Convention Center, Town Hall is very close and accessible on foot. I always go into the front entrance of the Convention Center, take the escalator or elevator to the top floor, and exit the back of the Convention Center into Freeway Park. The park will empty at certain spots on the east side onto 8th Ave, and Town Hall is a very short walk south.

I like Geneva though Barb is not all that fond of it. It is an old fashoned restaurant, as far from cutting edge as you can get.

Anyhow, it is not open on Monday as far as I know.

we ended up at bambuza. before 6, all appetizers are happy hour half price.

i'm just never impressed with the place. the food is decent. the service was good, the decor nice... but the food never leaves much of an impression. (except for the smoothies).
