I hope more restaurants follow this trend as I also find "small bites" far and away more interesting than having to tackle a "main course" that is usually enough to feed two people and BORING ! Trying to remember my first "tasting menu" I'm thinking it might have been at Charlie Trotters (when he had his short-lived restaurant in Las Vegas). It was about 8 courses and yet I left the table NOT feeling stuffed as a Thanksgiving turkey. I had the thrill of so many tasty bites..especially when my husband and I ordered two different tasting menus....one regular and one vegetarian....more to share.

Problem solved. Used a different email address to buy additional gift certificates... -
1/2 priced restaurant gift certificates
Foodie-Girl replied to a topic in Pacific Northwest & Alaska: Dining
OK, I think I've figured out the problem with this....correct me if I'm wrong. It seems you can only purchase one $50.00 gift certificate. I tried buying a second one (knowing that we tend to over-indulge) and I couldn't. "Your credit card was declined due to duplicate order". I even tried using my husbands name/different credit card...same problem. Has anyone else run into this? THANKS -

Thanks, Schielke. Well, we ate at Troiani fairly recently, so I think we'll head for some of the places we've yet to try. -
1/2 priced restaurant gift certificates

Well, this sounds mighty nice ! I haven't seen any $100 gift certificates available. Do they sell out first? We're going to Ristorante Pellini (I'm a sucker for Italian food with a view) El Gaucho and Brasserie Margaux. Fun, Fun, Fun ! -
Can't help with the hotel request (we stayed in Brunswick due to family obligations) but I have to put my two cents in about HUGOs! We were there a few weeks ago and I've got to tell you...it was one of the BEST meals I've had in a long time. Fore Street is certainly good...but HUGO's is fantastic. There...hope I haven't thrown a monkey wrench in to your plans...LOL

No kidding, AG girl. It had better be a very large table....LOL

Dinner with eGulleteers and Thomas Keller/Tony Bourdain thrown in for good measure....uhhhhhhh YEAH that sounds pretty good !

Right now it's my favorite restaurant in Vegas (it's in the MGM Grand), although it's not as good as the New York original. ***Have you been to Bradley Ogden? It's my current LV favorite.

Prime - Charlie Palmers and Commanders

I've been to LeCirque in NY once and, while very good, didn't come close to their LV outpost. I can say the same about Aqua (San Francisco). Just my opinion.... -
Dinner at UNION on Sunday night...husband had a softshell crab appetizer. I had a bite...it was great.

Mamster, I'm fairly unsophisticated as far as salmon goes but I have to say that I had white salmon once, at Oceanaire and to me it tasted more like trout than salmon.

Prime - Charlie Palmers and Commanders
Foodie-Girl replied to a topic in Southwest & Western States: Dining
I've been to Delmonico's and Craftsteak...both were very good but for whatever reason I keep going back to Prime. It just seems a cut above the others. Since you're on an expense account you may want to take a look at Le Cirque's menu (also in Bellagio). Also, it's one of the very few resturants in Las Vegas (as least to my knowledge) where you'll need to wear a sports coat. -
Prime - Charlie Palmers and Commanders
Foodie-Girl replied to a topic in Southwest & Western States: Dining
As I recall the server felt we needed explanation of half the menu items...as though we just fell off the bumpkin truck. I cut that off very quickly. Most everything we ordered tasted as though the same sauce and spices were being used. I just didn't like anything about it. -
Prime - Charlie Palmers and Commanders

I stand corrected...it wasn't really the shopping mall atmosphere that I most objected to...it was the mediocore meal and service. -

Personally I wouldnt go to Commander's Palace for dinner. It's in a shopping mall and was just so-so for lunch. I think you've got better choices right in the Bellagio. -

Bruce..while we may not agree on Fiamma I'm with you on Aureole. What a disappointment ! As for steaks...I'd go to Prime every time. Yeah the seafood platter was great but you might want to check the price $$$$$ -
Stayed at the Freestone Inn once...the food was just OK in my opinion but I'm probably one of the fussier ones around here. The rooms are very nice and having a restaurant on the property made it a very relaxing couple of days. The Sun Mountain Lodge looks interesting. Maybe they have an online menu and you could compare the two?

Afishnado...I second that. We've found nothing remotely close to a deli since moving here.

Love Cafe Juanita...but I'm thinking more along the lines of Trattoria Carmine-Lite.

A good Jewish deli where we good buy REAL bagels as well as cornbeef on rye sandwiches. Also....a terrific little Northern Italian restaurant...light on the sauces...clear and delicate flavors. Oh yeah...and maybe Armandino roaming around between the tables...LOL

All I know was it tasted like heaven !

Just got back from Vegas. My short report inside.

I haven't been to Emeril's Fish House in the past 8 or 9 months...The service was always "Bam-Free" on my visits. YUCK..when did they start THAT nonsense !!!
