  1. No we didn't get to Anthony's but made Janos our 'fancy dinner' restaurant for a couple of nights along with The Grill at Hacienda Del Sol. We did find a great little Mexican restaurant for breakfast/lunch...sorry the name escapes me...and that was a treat!
  2. Red Square (at your hotel). Great place for drinks and appetizers and also for dinner. I know...Russian food?? It's excellent. Try a Sputnik Martini and Lobster Martini appetizer...YUM !!
  3. Well, I know I'm probably pickier than some...but I found Troiani a little 'uneven' and that was frustrating because the good stuff was incredibly good. The Calamari salad appetizer was a bit flat. The Big Ravioli absolutely incredible. The Sweetbreads to die for as was the Spaghetti with Tomato Sauce while the Duck seemed to lack the rich flavor I've come to expect. We shared a Semifreddo for dessert and it was SO sweet. Service was overly-attentive and yet they just couldn't get it right. Our cocktails arrived and within minutes our wine was brought over, uncorked and offered us to taste....very strange. Normally I wouldn't order Spaghetti with Tomato Sauce but I'm glad I followed some of the recommendations here...it was absolutely great. I'm not a big fan of Sweetbreads....but these took my breath away. It's a very pretty resturant and some of their dishes are outstanding...but at $175. for two of us I would expect everything to be of the same calibre.
  4. Great reading! You hit some of my personal favorites! By the way, I don't think you missed out on anything by not going to Lutece. I tried it once..found it very disappointing...didn't hold a candle to Picasso or even Circo for that matter.
  5. tsquare...Glad to see someone has gone recently. Tomorrow night will be my first visit...
  6. You guys are the best! Thanks so much...that is the name I was trying to remember. Has anyone eaten there? Comments? THANKS
  7. I seem to remember reading something (good) about an Italian restaurant somewhere close to the art museum. Can someone help me out? THANKS
  8. I was there in August...but recall that it was about $400 for the two of us. That was with the tasting menu and sharing a bottle of wine ($90).
  9. Try for a 5:45 or 6PM reservation and just take your time with a cocktail before ordering...
  10. I second nightscotsman's comment. The desserts at Palio are fantastic...as is just about everything at Bellagio.
  11. Exactly. Since I'm in Seattle during the week I have access to lots of good food. So on the peninsula I do alot of cooking. Boy, I sure wish I lived closer to Central Market. Thanks Abra, I was trying to think of which sushi place in Silverdale was supposed to be the good one. Oh there is Port Townsend. There's good food up there if we include the Olympic Peninsula. I like the Salal Cafe for breakfasts they serve all day! I'm just 5-minutes from Central Market...I LOVE it!
  12. Beach House in Purdy is very good...but such a schlep from here...it's actually more relaxing for us to take the ferry to Seattle. Local places I like.....Pleasant Beach Bistro, Four Swallows, Bainbridge Island Sushi , Benson's in Poulsbo. I enjoy cooking and would rather eat home most of the time...or else go to Seattle. I travel a lot and am fortunate enough to be able to eat at great restaurants when I'm in Las Vegas or New York...so, by comparison I haven't run across anything too fantastic here close to where I live. That said...it IS nice just to go out for a quick meal once in awhile without having to go to Seattle. Other places I might have missed? I've only lived here for 2 years.
  13. OH YES !....I live in Poulsbo.
  14. Realize you were asking Lavendar...but I'll just add to the comments....BO is a GREAT restaurant that HAPPENS to be located in CP. Go straight to the restaurant with your eyes closed....I personally find CP very garish.
  15. Appreciate all the suggestions for restaurants near the La Paloma area. So far JANOS, J-BAR & GRILL AT HACIENDA DEL SOL are the best among those we tried. SOLEIL was good...though one dish (stripped bass ) fell flat. I would not recommend CAFE TERRA COTTA . SO....I would use a suggestion for a lunch spot (authentic Mexican being my first choice) on the way to the airport from La Paloma area. THANKS
  16. I wouldn't put "flirty service" and either of those two outstanding restaurants in the same sentence. They are both excellent and provide professional service.
  17. Unless you're wedded to the idea of seafood you might want to consider VALENTINO. The service is always flawless and the food delicious (at least based on several visits). If I were trying to impress someone I think I would ask many people for their opinions rather than just taking a chance on an unknown restaurant. Good Luck !
  18. I've been to Nobu LV several times and always been pleased with food/service. Definitely recommond the omikase (tasting menu) for the sheer variety and portion size. If you find yourself still hungry you can just keep ordering more !
  19. I probably did recommend the tasting menu. OH my..sounds like the manager saved the evening for you!!! Glad it all worked out.
  20. Ooooops... VALENTINO for Italian at The Venetian.
  21. Delmonico's (Emeril's steak house) Venetian (Italian) Those are my two favorites. I had one awful meal at Tsunami...would avoid that one. Numerous meals at the two I've mentioned...never been disappointed.
  22. I used to love Etta's for dinner but the last couple of times I was there I wasn't so impressed. And I have never liked their breakfasts. Every time my food has come to me lukewarm. Maybe I am getting too picky in my old age.........
  23. Thanks, tsquare. You know, we have been to Etta's once(for dinner) and found the service to be a bit....well, disinterested at best and our meal not memorable. By comparison we loved Dahlia Lounge. Maybe we'll give Etta's another try. Thanks for your suggestion.
  24. The brochure/website has given me enough info. to know if the emphasis is on something I don't especially like...ie I generally prefer white to red wine so I wouldn't go for the all-red wine Red Heads dinners. For someone not liking salmon...the Copper River dinners wouldn't be a good choice either. The per person prices are as stated....anywhere from $159 to $189 as I recall. Oh yes, Wilson, I do enjoy truffles!
