  1. What about Gallery 37? They have cooking classes. I've never been there, though.
  2. I'm totally excited! I am local and can bring a cooler. I will also make a salad/side and maybe an appetizer. Ronnie, if there is anything I can do, please let me know. I am on summer break as of today, whoo hoo!
  3. I don't have any input on what's better, but I'm interested in following this discussion as I stood in the garden center this spring trying to decide what to buy and tasting each one to see what tasted like a mojito. I got spearmint. I am not familiar with the other drinks you mentioned, so off to Google I go... edited to add that I DO know what a julep is...
  4. Get your wallet out... http://gapersblock.com/drivethru/2008/05/2...a_pricy_new_fo/
  5. I get the #12 on whole grain, almost every time. They do deliver really fast, which I really appreciate, and it feels like a healthier option than the other places that deliver, although I suspect it's really not. Don't burst my bubble please. I'm in denial.
  6. I just made flourless peanut butter cookies the other day. They couldn't be easier, though I think they might be a little sweet. I used chunky peanut butter and made them really tiny and put a few chocolate chips in the center of some of them.
  7. Mmmm. Did you cross post with the PMS thread? I'll have to look for them.
  8. So far Vodka Spiked Cherry Tomatoes and Braised Swiss Chard with Cannelinni beans served with grilled Italian sausages are my two best of the year.
  9. The Daring Bakers made Dorie's Perfect Party Cake this month. It's a group of bloggers who agree to make the same recipe and post on their blogs. They do one a month. I just came across them, but since several people posted about this cake, I thought I'd mention it here. Daring Bakers
  10. Dutch gin, aka "Hollands" is a lightly sweetened, old-fashioned style of gin made in pot still on a base of what is essentially unaged whiskey. Or so I'm told. None is currently imported to the United States, aside from Boomsma, which those in the know say is not terribly indicative of the style. ← Thanks. I'm neither knowledgeable enough nor opinionated enough (read: I'll drink just about anything) to add to this thread other than to ask questions, but I'll be adding many of your favorites to my shopping list to try and enjoy reading your lists.
  11. Thanks!! That means a lot. I know the seniors don't know the effort I put into it. Its sad, but I get more complaints than praise from them. ← WE know and WE appreciate it, even if they don't.
  12. They tore down and rebuilt the Wendy's that is on my way to work. I noticed they are now serving breakfast. Anyone had breakfast at Wendy's?
  13. Thanks. That's about what we were thinking. We only cook once or twice a year for them, but I always watch this thread to see what you are cooking.
  14. Randi, We are cooking for our teachers at lunch on Friday. We plan to make a pasta similar to the one you did in November with the ricotta. How much pasta do you think we would need for about 40 people with a salad, bread and dessert also served?
  15. Don't know how I missed them as I have made them myself. Will add them to the master list right now.
  16. We're looking at a kitchen renovation this summer. I can't wait to see the rest of the details in your kitchen. I have very limited space, so I can use all the innovative storage ideas I can get. We also have a new addition as of Friday. This is Quincy. We chose his name to fit with our other dogs, Milo and Kirby. The name also had to pass the yelling test, according to my husband. http://forums.egullet.org/uploads/1201491277/gallery_8693_309_327080.jpg

  18. First, I'd like to thank you all for coming to town for my birthday weekend and throwing such a spectacular party in my honor. Second, I'd also like to offer Ronnie my help from the far westside of the city.
  19. I don't think so. It's targeted at people keeping laying hens at home, not businesses.
  20. http://gapersblock.com/detour/thats_chicken_sh/ Apparently our aldermen, now that they've raised our taxes and banned foie gras, need something else to target, and it's urban chickens. Are you a city dweller with chickens? Do your neighbors have chickens? Would you if you could?
  21. Those with minimal sweet teeth are not invited! I was thinking about shortbread. I have a good lemon shortbread recipe. I'll post later what book it's from. Thanks for the suggestion. ← Our party was last night. The final line up was: chocolate raspberry tart (Baking from my home to yours) 7 layer bars Cranberry Cherry Icebox Ribbons (All American Cookie Book, by Nancy Baggett) Iced Lemon Shortbread fingers (All Am. Cookie Book) Rugelach - chocolate/pecan and apricot/pecan (Baking) Brownies Baked brie with pecans in a maple/brown sugar syrup (made by a guest) cheese ball Warre's 10 year Tawny port Moscato d'Asti coffee, tea, etc.
