How about tapenade? It is easy to make.

I loved the "Tony and Georgio" programme on the BBC. I wish he would doing another round of that show. I am going to put this book on my wish list.

Sorry, I obviously misread this.

Excuse me, but I am German by origin and these are most definitely German dishes, with the exception of the strudel that was invented in Austria, so I don't know what you are talking about. Pecan tassies are from the Southern United States. And, depending on where you live, pecans can be very expensive.

We eat a lot of boneless, skinless chicken breasts, but... we only buy what they call here "chicken schnitzels". They are pounded chicken breasts. They cook evenly and you can do anything with them. Here is an example: Hungarian Paprikas I also cook them in a lemon, thyme and rosemary sauce. A mango and orange sauce. A mustard and lemon sauce....they ideas are endless. I also dip them in egg and bread them with matza flour or panko.

I am going to use this Quince Tarte Tatin recipe, but I am going to add cloves and a cinnamon stick to the sugar syrup that I am cooking the quince in. Maybe, I will serve it with Pomegranate Sorbet. GG, for something really different, you could serve the duck with a Pomegranate Gastrique.

Have you decided what you are doing with the duck? Duck, goose and lamb are very expensive here. I would love to have duck with orange or cherry sauce.

Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown, Friday, 22 September this year. What do you have planned? I am going on a business trip next week and will not be back until the Friday morning of Erev Rosh Hashana So, I am going to prepare my matza balls this Friday and freeze them. I am also going to make a honey cake. Which I have never been successful at making. Tapenade will be responsible for preparing the soup and the rest of the meal. We are going to have dinner alone this year. No one has invited us yet and I don't like to beg. I am going to make a quince tarte tatin for the dinner. The honey cake is to nosh on.

Maybe I have been roasting chickens for a long time, but I don't find it that difficult, nor do I make it difficult. Lemon-Garlic Chicken I keep kosher, which means I use kosher chickens that I purchase from a butcher on my high street. Basically, I wash the chicken. Stuff it with a quartered lemon, several cloves of peeled garlic, a spring of fresh rosemary or a bunch of thyme and I put some rosemary or thyme under the skin of the breast. Place unpeeled garlic cloves and lemon quarters or halves around the chicken, drizzle a little olive oil on top and bake at 180C (approximately 350F) for an hour. It always comes out juicy inside, crispy on the outside.

Have a safe flight and a great trip. -
The most popular sweets you see at Oktoberfest are decorated gingerbread. Like on this website. Also candied almonds. I don't think there is anything really special dessert-wise for Oktoberfest, it is more about the beer, grilled sausages and grilled chicken and other meats. I would make: Schwartzwaelder Kirschtorte Apfel Strudel Sweet pretzels from puff pastry Lebkuchen Plum Cake I have other recipes, but they are in German.

Lorna, I am gaining weight just reading what you eat everyday. My metabolism has always been bad and I could eat a crumb and gain weight. I so envy you. Eventhough you haven't shown us any Chinese food yet, I think I am finally inspired again to start cooking Chinese again. Thanks for this wonderful blog.

Lebanese Style Whole Grilled Fish
Swisskaese replied to a topic in Middle East & Africa: Cooking & Baking
You might be able to find plain dried zaatar in a Middle Eastern shop. The zaatar you have has sesame seeds in it and it is very good with the fish or you could mix some in the tehina. -
Yes, they were hit hard. Here is an article about Recanati Winery: Conflict threatens Israel's wine harvest Eventhough they are suffering at the moment they are giving back to the community: Yad Sarah Buy Recanati wine and part of the money will be given to Yad Sarah. It is a volunteer social services organization. They are helping individuals and businesses in the North.

Lebanese Style Whole Grilled Fish
Swisskaese replied to a topic in Middle East & Africa: Cooking & Baking
You could also sprinkle it with zaatar. I have tried salmon with tehina and it didn't work very well. I think it works much better with white fish like cod, sea bass, trout or St. Peters fish. The pomegranate sauce is also a good one. I have made a pomegranate sauce with salmon and it is excellent compliment to the salmon. If you could find cod or some other white fish you could serve the fish with a tehina and pomegranate sauce. It is not Lebananese, it is Georgian. -
I know what you mean. David and I decided it is better for us to work on separate things. Otherwise, we would drive each other nuts. Sometimes, we are each others sous chefs, but generally we prepare dishes or meals separately. In the beginning of our relationship, David used to criticize every dish and it used to piss me off. Now, I understand that he was just trying to suggest things.

I had in it Fruili. A former roommate's father made it. It was delicious, but he explained to me that it is illegal. I felt like he was giving me moonshine. But, this was 11 years ago already.

Both of the menus looked very good, eventhough I wouldn't have been able to eat the pork dishes . However, I am not a fan of foam; I don't like the way it feels in my mouth. So, Henry, I am sorry, but my vote goes to Lorna. Menu #1: 8 points Menu #2: 7 points I would love the recipes for the Gorganzola Polenta and the Caramel Curry Peach tart.

There are a number of good boutique wineries here. Try and find wines from: Amphorae Flam Saslove Sea Horse Soreq Ella Valley Yatir (joint venture between Carmel Wines and local growers) - this site seems to still be a work in progress I also recommend trying the Carmel Single Vineyardwines that I tried in my foodblog a couple of weeks ago.
