  1. 3 egg omelette filled with ham and avocado
  2. Glad everything's fine now, Brian.
  3. One of my favourite Asian vegetable dishes is pea shoots topped with shredded dried sea scallops. The sea scallops are bathed in a slightly creamy sauce (probably has chicken stock in it). Absolutely delicious! I'm also a fan of braised shiitake mushrooms on baby bok choy.
  4. Any chance anyone know the name of the Okanagan goat cheese? Thanks for the review, Sarah.
  5. I'm sorry, but I don't think I was "tossing shit". I'm shocked and angered by the hostility. I thought my comments on the food were valid, and did not intend for them to be malicious. It's interesting how my positive comments about the food were ignored--I guess these are the only ones that are acceptable to Sean's ears. My review on Bis Moreno came from the heart, and anyone who frequents this board knows that I've posted plenty of positive reviews about various restaurants. I think Sean's post was totally out of line, and judging from my PMs, I'm not alone in my sentiment. edit: Just wanted to say that I've said my piece and I'm bowing out of this thread from now on.
  6. Lucky! My most delicious thing today would be my first taste of Vacherin Mont d'Or.
  7. ^canucklehead, it sounds like you really enjoyed your burger at the Tomahawk. Maybe Burger Club should add this place to our list...
  8. Andrea, thanks for your blog--I really enjoyed it! The "Roberto's Plate" looks delicious with all that melted cheese and ground meat. And thanks for including a picture of yourself. For some reason, I really like it when bloggers include a picture of themselves so we can see who we've been following all week. (Wish I belonged to a Supper Club too! )
  9. My 450 square foot apartment does not have a "dining room"--we have a small, round table right behind our couch, with the TV perhaps 10 feet away from the "dining area". My parents, however, only use the dining room for "big" dinners--Chinese New Year, Christmas, Easter, birthdays, etc. Personally, I prefer eating around the kitchen table there, as the dining room seats are hard and uncomfortable.

    Dinner! 2005

Wow! That souffle looks really impressive, msfoodie! (And thanks for googling the cheese for me.)

    Chambar

Hi Karri, even though I haven't dined at Chambar, I am most impressed with your polite and gracious response regarding an egullet member's review. I look forward to enjoying those Belgain waffles soon!
  12. Oh, I forgot that the Bourdain book had a recipe for kidneys. I'll definitely be trying that (once I get a hold of them) thanks!
  13. ^Thanks for the suggestions, plunk. I don't have any ideas about the preparation yet. Can you suggest anything?

    Dinner! 2005

I am planning to serve my Vacherin Mont-d'Or either as part of dinner tonight or tomorrow night. Does anyone know what I should serve with it? The man at the cheese shop suggested dipping boiled potatoes into it. One more question--are you supposed to eat the mold that's on the side of the cheese? It looks rather scary....
  15. Nope. But I may have my companion take a photo of me at dinner tonight just for inclusion to the final post of the blog.... And funny you should mention the dessert bars (the green ones, right?). They were "key lime bars" and my SO, who is a key lime freak, tried one and then told me it was icky. Andrea http://tenacity.net ← Too bad those key lime bars don't taste as good as they look. I'm curious--what are those dessert bars in the photo next to the key lime ones? They look like Nanaimo bars with an extra thick coconuty base. (Nanaimo bars are a Canadian thing, I believe--top layer of ganache, middle layer is custard, and bottom layer is like a chocolatey-coconut graham cookie.)

    Dinner! 2005

Judith, that sandwich looks and sounds nothing short of amazing!
  17. I get to eat 2 Chinese New Year dinner too--one on Saturday with my family, and one on Wednesday with my bf's family. I don't exactly know what we're getting, but I'm sure the following items will make an appearance: -some sort of steamed fish, freshly-killed that afternoon -roast pork (last year we had an entire piglet!) -the usual items from the Chinese bbq shop--soy sauce chicken, duck, maybe some of the red bbq pork (char siew) -my mom will make these things she calls "egg pockets", which are little circles of fried egg stuffed with a seasoned beef mixture -braised shiitake mushrooms on top of bok choy -fried gluten (this is my favourite thing, even though the English name is so unappetizing. It's essentially a chewy dough that's fried and covered in different sauces. It's supposed to resemble different types of meat, but tastes nothing like it. Greasy and delicious!) -a few dishes of vegetables -"Buddhist feast", a vegetarian dish with different types of mushrooms among many other ingredients, with the red "foo yue" (fermented bean curd) -noodles and maybe "sticky rice" -some sort of soup edit: I'm not sure what we're having at my bf's house, but I'm sure it will be another great dinner, as his dad went to culinary school in HK. There will be more people at this dinner, so there will probably be an even bigger selection of dishes!
  18. I adore chicken-fried steak, but the fried pork looks good too. I'm enjoying this blog very much--I loved the pictures of the dessert bars on the 1st page. Is that you by the microwave?
  19. ^Oh, the Urban Well--I went to a company Christmas party there once and they had open bar. I must have had at least 10 Slippery Nipples that night. I don't frequent bars very often, but I sometimes drink at lounges.
  20. Just thought I'd add that I don't think Cool Whip is that popular in Canada. I've never seen it in anyone's fridge, and I only know of one friend who uses it (she spoons it onto her coffee.) I've never tasted it, but I've eaten artifical whipped cream so I can imagine what Cool Whip tastes like.
  21. I forgot about this. I get a Sourdough Burger every time I go down to the States (maybe every year or two). Nothing beats a Sourdough Burger, followed by an afternoon of shopping!
  22. It would really depend on the quality of the ingredients. I wouldn't enjoy bright red, syrupy cherries.
  23. Has anyone been to Doolin's?

    Dinner! 2005

Hash browns (not from the freezer) and eggs. I was kind of lazy.
  25. The oatmeal and raisin bar I had for a snack, after a nice Korean BBQ meal. The bar was nice and moist (must have had lots of butter) and went nicely with my Americano. Yum. Another delicious day.
