Really?!? I mean they’re everywhere here but they must weight like 30 plus lbs. ugh and they’re so mean!

I spent about 2 hours, ironically, researching the meal kit market and reviews and meals available currently. Nothing appealed at all. The meals were either literally microwaveable or they offered stupid (as in I can make it already) meals or they had bad reviews and were unappealing. I don’t mind using a grocery store meal kit— I can at least look at it and it’s subscription free. I agree this market has collapsed. So much invested.

I like the idea of musabi but would balk at frying spam in oil.

Vegan friendly, but NOT ALL VEGAN dinner spot for a group.

Sweetgreens maybe? -
We do it too— it’s relatively fast and definitely filling. But what is frog jam?

I don’t like asparagus. They have a bitter, lead like taste to me. The stink bugs around me are back. They were a major issue here back in the fall of 2007. My cubicle at the back then Honeywell HQ was by the door and I’d freak out because the stink bugs gravitated to me whenever the door was opened. Then it was wild turkey season. They’re plentiful here and MEAN. Hissing and squawking and are honestly intimidatingly large. When I worked late (which was often) I had security come and chase them away to get to my car. Are wild turkeys considered game? I mean these birds looked like ostriches in terms of weight. Besides not liking asparagus that much, blue cheese totally kills any dish that it’s snuck into for me. I’ve tried it in all types— salads, with figs, at Beechers, at Eataly, on a filet and it’s a hard no for me.

@gfweb same. Unless it’s chopped. Then I decide I’d love to adopt those kids (despite them having their own parents). The baking competitions are always a hard no from me. Food Network and HGTV are on a lot in our home. I find most of their shows calming and good background noise.

@suzilightning I know I can’t watch any of GGG now it’s too soon.

I know most members here don’t watch a lot of Food Network. I do, I leave it on in the background most days as I find it calming compared to say, the news or Jerry Springer. Carl was a huge personality. He lived well and did whatever sparked his interest, and did so passionately.

He was mostly notorious in Northern NJ, but recently opened a restaurant in Chelsea. He was on the Food Network mostly on Fieri’s shows. We interacted via social media. He had a strong presence IRL, and I’m pretty sad about it: https://www.cnn.com/2019/09/22/us/chef-carl-ruiz-death/index.html

This is a restaurant in and English speaking country/ region?

The thing is, we need to stop somewhere directly within a route from Palo Alto to the Sacramento area. We went to Napa last spring and are going to Sonoma this spring. I’m not hugely focused on vineyard/ winery visits as I’d imagine that week of thanksgiving will impact visiting hours. I’m looking for a town with some solid wines/ wine tastings/ rooms and good restaurants. Am I on the wrong track with Lodi?

Hot dogs made of random pork products, Taylor Ham and canned corn beef hash.

I don’t care what they do. Sometimes I want their dog food tacos and those Cinnabon bites. Those things are so so good.
-
I like McDonalds when I’m PMSing. Wasn’t there a thread about that? But if I want a fast food burger I lean towards 5 Guys first then Smashburger.

I’d think wonton wrappers would be too thin in a lasagna.

Both. I don’t eat organ meat at all. Includes foie but that’s both a taste and emotional issue for me.

As an owner of a golden retriever I am confident I wouldn’t never ever eat dog meat. Ever.
-
I will not eat veal. My father, who has heart issues and is allergic to poultry eats a lot of veal. I don’t eat lamb. Ironically if I had to pick a meat to live off it would be pork. I would never entertain the concept of eating horse. I’d rather starve to death than eat dog.

@robirdstx you’re a woman after my own heart! My mouth is still sore. 🙄 I ate half a piece of pizza and a mozzarella stick.

Oh dear. Today’s visit wasn’t too bad but I will need some type of gum surgery in the near future that will require sutures and a 10 DAY RECOVERY. Maybe I’ll lose a solid 10lbs? I’m thinking mashed potatoes and pudding. Softly scrambled eggs and chicken broth. For 10 (likely more I am a huge wimp) freaking days.
