  1. Chocolate balls / Chokladbollar / Kalasbollar / politiskt inkorrekta bollar, yes these have a million names and we makes them for both adults and kids. I think this is from Coop or Axa rolled oats bag The recipe is the same any way. 100 gram butter 150 ml sugar 4 tablespoon unsweetend cocao powder 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 pinch of salt 2 tablespoons water, bozze or coffee or orange juice 500 ml rolled oats. Rolling: Non pralines, coarse grained candied sugar, chopped nuts, dedicated coconut or melted chocolate or candy melts. Mix everything up, butter and cocoa first and then the rest, end with the liquid, use your hands. Roll into 30 small balls ( ha, never happens and well I get about 13 ) and then roll them in something or for a more posher look, freeze and then dip them in chocolate or candy melts
  2. No tomatoes yet, but I can see fruits on it. There is only 2 in the village who has gotten tomatoes yet, after the hailstorm, the tomato plants had to regrow
  3. My husband helps if I ask but he admits he sucks on Kitchen ballet with me. My dad and I just swirls around, not talking and make fantastic meals together, I have two friends I can do that with too but not my husband. He says he has two left feet as taste buds for a Kitchen ballet session with me. *lol*
  4. My daughter right now eats peaches and more peaches and the odd pear here and there for snack. We have also found out she likes to dip tomatoes in HP sauce, dont think that is given think for most kids. Greek yoghurt with a lot of fresh fruit is also yummy.
  5. I cook porridge out of that and bake into bread, it is rather yummy.
  6. The problem with using mould cheeses in bread , is it can taste mouldy in a bad way. Before I got deadly allergic I have tried a few Gorgonzola breads and most tasted funky. How ever Parmesan and Pecorino breads with herbs has always been yummy and I once got a lovely cheddar and onion loaf. In late summer and early autumn I prefer to bake carrot and caraway bread, pumpkin loaf, turnip bread, parsnip loaf and beet root loafs, the beet root loaf becomes either barbie pink or reddish crust with a speckled inside, I never get the same and I dont know why.
  7. Looks like Party cake from the 1980 biscuit and cake book I have.
  8. Jaymes I did suggest smoothies but that was sent to healthy food for kids, so when I found this while I was looking for my ginger ale waffle recipe it felt like the right thing to post.

  10. I bought my trifle bowl at IKEA... yeah I was amazed they had one that was perfect. Anyway, that will up on the dessert list, I havent made trifle in a while and I think we need it after seeing this gorgeous trifle.
  11. Yesterday Sunday, we had big brunch with friends, I dont take pictures when I eat with friends, I find it rude. We had sleep over omelette , 3 types of fried sausages, smoked bacon, smoked salmon, vegetable stew, fresh vegetables , juice, coffee, tea, jam, bread and we ended it all with a yummy kladdkaka.
  12. Well, I forgot I am Swedish. *smile* Sweet stuff is candy, cookies, added sugar on toast or anything with added sugar. I grew up with natural sugar was ok, fruits and berries and we eat in seasons , so in a 1 month there is no more berries, only pears and apples and the odd orange or satsumas at Christmas. Juice in Sweden cant have added sugar and of course everything in moderation. She get one smoothie, not 4, it also contains fibers, minerals, vitamins and I do think that is better in the long run then one coke, which a 2 year old shouldn't have. They have also proven that kids eat more "healthy" stuff if they dont get to know it is healthy and thinks it is normal. Yes my daughter does get sugars, she gets 1 spoon of home made cloudberry jam or lingon berry jam for her oatmeal in the morning and candy on Saturdays and a cookie with special fika ( our coffee ceremony and national lube). FauxPas, you assume that Swedish coke has corn syrup, we dont, it is made with beet sugar. We dont grown enough corn to make it to the high fructose corn syrup, we use beets. Some else my kid loves in rice porridge ( unsweetened , because that is the recipe) with fruit when it gets colder.

    Malt Vinegar

Sarsons has a malt vinegar for pickling that I have used in chutneys and I seen used with beetroots, cucumber and onions among other things. Normal malt vinegar I use in bread
  14. As a mum my self with a 2 year old and a 23 year old, I would just say. Sweet stuff shouldn't be used as snacks, they are treats . My daughter midday snack, the snack she has a few ours before dinner exists right now of ice cold fruits smoothing with juice or yogurt and it no sugar added, easy to make , just ice, fruit , juice or yogurt in a blender. Or she get a sandwich with cheese and a few tomatoes on the side or just cherry tomatoes and peas, she can eat her weight in that if I let her. Or fruit and water/ milk. And in our household this isnt healthy, this is the normal thing to do and we NEVER EVER tell her that something is unhealthy or healthy, it just normal.
  15. AnnaN try to pronounce the Swedish word, that will be challenge since the K is soft the ö is more like ehm sound... Lunch today is samosas!
  16. My mun just to do spagbol sauce filled zucchini boats covered with cheese when I was little. We used to love it.
  17. Almond fairy cakes. 75 gram of butter ½ cup sugar 1 large egg 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract ½ cup flour ½cup almond flour 1 teaspoon of baking powder 1/8 teaspoon of baking soda ½ cup of greek yogurt 2 tablespoon of honey 1 or 2 dropp almond extract Preheat the oven to 350 C Get out 12 cupcake (fairy cake) casins or cupcake tray. Whisk sugar butter and egg smooth. Mix flour, baking soda, baking powder, almond flour and stir into the egg butter mix. Add the yogurt, vanilla, honey and almon extract and whisk smooth. Pour into the cups, half fill the cups. Bake for 25- 30 min. This doesnt become high domed fairycakes, they are rather flatt, I gott 11 and not 12. But the flavour is ace. There is recommned to have a whipped butter cream topping with toasted walnuts or almonds to it but I love them as they are. Oh and they 1970 style so they are small, which is great in my world.
  18. We had spagbol , oh no, yeah right people dont like that word. So we had köttfärsås och spagetti, try to pronounce that in a hurry. My daughter manage to cover her back, but left her tummy clean.. I have no clue how she did it, but she was really enjoying her food.
  19. So I made new almond fairy cakes and this time without washing up liquid. They are so yummy, buttery , toffee goodness in a little package.
  20. Have you tried raspberry butter?
  21. Soba: it is thicker then sauce too. It is yummy and that is all that counts. AnnT: The recipe is in the summer squash cook off. http://forums.egullet.org/topic/145452-cook-off-63-summer-squash/page-6
  22. Ann T: well my breads are sandwich bread only, it is not made for being fancy but filling my hubby and daughter belly. I do like that bread, it is a bit expensive compared to the other breads I make but so yummy.
  23. Sandi Jones. I am lactose intolerant too, but I use lactose free dairy milk and cream and now butter for most things. I know you have LF milk and there should be LF creams in Canada so you can make those you avoid.
  24. Saft! Fruit syrup, you add water too and drink. There is Tasmanian raspberry chocolate brownies and French chocolate silk pie with raspberries and false curdcake goes great with raspberries and also Raspberry liqueur. Raspberry liqueur 400 gram raspberries 300 ml sugar 500 ml vodka Mix in a big clean clear glass jar with lid, leave in the window for 4-5 weeks, stir from time to time. Pour in to clean bottles and leave in a dark place for 1-4 months. Before opening and enjoying.
  25. Smithy: I dont know what to call it since it isnt pie filling nor jam nor soup..
