  1. I love reading your reviews, lxt. You write beautifully. Thanks for taking the time to post it!
  2. Is there any basis to this? Do you have a link or something to back it up? I don't mean to be rude, but just because a buddy told you this, doesn't exactly make it true. I'd like to see some more proof before I boycott Timmy's.

    Cider

I adore Strongbow. In fact, I got violently drunk from Strongbow this weekend. :) Ahh, the memories.
  4. Blech! You can add kidneys to my list along with tonic water. I also really dislike the use of mint in savoury dishes. I can stand fennel/licorice/anise flavour, but I certainly don't like it.
  5. Great thread, fifi! :) Okay, well, in addition to the foie everyone knows about now ( ), I'll also confess to disliking the following: Sweetbreads Tongue (actually, most offal) Mustard (yes, mustard) Frog legs .. I'm sure there are more, but that is all I can think of right now. See, I'm not that picky! I'll always at least try something. What pisses me off is that like in the case with my foie gras experience this weekend, I have to fork out some good money to find out I don't like something. Grumble.
  6. I think I may have another winner: risotto.

    Dinner! 2003

Last night (Thursday): Baby spinach salad feta cheese, a maple red onion jam, toasted pine nuts and a pink grapefruit vinaigrette. Black striped seabass filet saffron vanilla sauce, citrus-infused cous cous, asparagus, eggplant, crisp baby spinach, basil oil.
  8. Jason, you've taken over the position of my personal eGullet Jesus (previously held by .. well no one, I just made it up right now, but it's prestigious; I promise.) Awesome kitchen.
  9. That sounds utterly divine, Michael. Wow. You're good. You're damn good.
  10. Fresh pasta. and I fully agree with breads. Mmm.
  11. Heheh. I can't speak for outside of Ontario, but Tiger Tail is popular all over the place here. In my opinion, Kawartha Dairy makes the best ice cream in Ontario (and yes, they have tiger tail too) :)

  13. I'm really loving Nina's writing. Awesome article. I like this lady's style.
  14. Roasted cashews, bottled water. Boring I am.
  15. Usually spring water or juice. 50% of the time, a glass of wine (usually white, usually Riesling). awbrig, mjc: does Fiji water REALLY taste different/better? If so, could you explain how?
  16. Ohmygod, I think I broke Jinmyo.
  17. http://www.airlinemeals.net/ This might be of particular interest to this thread. And of particular interest from that website, would be the foie/truffle terrine (Concorde)

  19. It worked really, really well actually. Thanks for asking. I eliminated the leek confit from the recipe, as the coconut milk added the necessary richness. The lime zest was definitely a good substitute for the lime juice. It balanced it nicely. The lardons also worked much better, as they were able to sit pretty much atop the soup with it being thicker. Thanks gsquared!
  20. Don't forget to stop in at Cobra Heart Cafe, Durian2go, or Fetal Duck Egg Express in the roof of the foundation. All prepared lovingly by tortured Mexican immigrants under the watchful eye of the INS.
