Thank you! No recipe. Just trying to cook what I have to clear fridge and pantry. Freezer is next! Beans and dried mushrooms were soaked separately for about ten hours. Both were separately cooked in instant pot, I used mushroom soaking liquid to cook beans as well as the mushrooms. Bacon was pan fried in cast iron.

Making side dish for tonight's dinner with recently cooked Christmas lima beans and previously frozen white beans and tomato/eggplant stew. Decided to poached an egg for breakfast shakshouka style.

SNAP and WIC are not cash and that makes them restrictive to begin with. Nor they are intended to cover all food expenses, hence Supplemental. Government places restrictions on many programs that it runs such as Medicare reimbursements to (not poor) Docs and Hispitals. It is reasonable, IMHO, to exclude junk food just as alcohol and cigarettes are excluded.

Panzanella made with grape tomatoes from TJ, Zima tomatoes from WF, home made bread toasted with olive oil. Not the same as summer panzanella but acceptable. Wild chives @gfron1 rockfish with Christmas Lima beans and salsa verde

Mushroom risotto topped with chicken cracklings and fried capers. Note to self: cracklings go with everything!

Started with slaw like salad, chopped whatever refrigerator had for me: Napa cabbge, carrot, cucumber, onion, apple with mayo and lime juice. Also had reheated left over roasted chicken.

@rotuts 3 piggies are fish roes. Not osetra, you know, but OK as garnish. Pale/bucket is French Dijon mustard. Both around 2.50.

World Market has 75% off sale on holidays merchandise. How on earth salt packed capers and such are related to holidays, I will never know. Also a bunch of rose was 50% off plus another 20% off if you buy 4 bottles. Wine pictured its me 8 dollars and other items ranged from 75 cents to 3.75 for maple syrup sampler.

I love brown rice. I also love white rice. There is hardly a savory food item that I do not love. Unfortunately, some of the restaurant brown rice offerings are not cooked properly, bordering on crunchy. So I tend to go with white rice when eating out.

I decided to season my Darto pan with bacon and other animal fat, proponents of flax seed oil be damned. I doubt that my grandmother had designer oil in her pantry. She probably did not have Darto pan either but whatever. Applied two coats of bacon fat this morning. Fried small piece of duck skin tonight, got a few cracklings. Pan is now as smooth as glass. Kitchen smelled good in process.
