Important, if you want to plant paw paw. You will need two for pollination. dcarch

This is what I was talking about. But it was MIT, not Harvard. dcarch

I believe they have omitted some information here. A few years back I read that a university (Harvard?) science research team had come up with a new chemical treatment to plastic that make the surface kind of non stick, allowing the ketchup to pour easier. dcarch

That's why they are also called mudbugs. dcarch

Nice! That makes Spam the same as Kobe beef. dcarch

Electric cost for deep freezing that beef for 12 years comes to $1,000. dcarch

Daylily is an amazing plant. It grows in sun, in shade, in summer and in winter. It comes back every year. It requires no care, and it doesn't seem to have insect problem. Not only that it gives you pretty flowers for your garden, it is also a very nice vegetable. From Google ---"Daylilies are not only edible, they are spectacular. After sampling the flowers, flower buds, young stalks and root tubers, I've come to the conclusion that they're so tasty I may grow them as a food crop---" Every year, before I get anything from my garden early in the spring, I harvest daylily shoots. dcarch

very often, you can get free 20-lb BBQ propane tanks for free on Freecycle or Craigtslist. They can take at least 350 PSI. But if you want 100% silent operation, CO2 air tanks for paintball guns can give you 4,500 PSI at full charge. You will need a good pressure regulator of course. dcarch

I was going to do some work in the garden. I walked passed by my tomato patch. I could hear all the tomatoes were whispering to me, " Pssssss------ BLT, BLT!!!", " Pssssss------ BLT, BLT!!!", " Pssssss------ BLT, BLT!!!", ----- Well, what choice did I have? So I went inside and made a BLTB (Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato on Baquette) . dcarch

The motor of a typical compressor does not make much noise. Most of the noise is generated by the air intake. If you can hook up a muffler to the air intake, you can cut out a lot of the noise. You can make a muffler, or buy an automotive muffler. dcarch

Shelby, your garden is a mess! (my garden is messier, LOL!) dcarch

Things are different today. New homes are built extremely well to meet energy standards. Everything is sealed. There are very few air leaks to make up oxygen used inside. Building Codes have been revised to require outside air intake for heat and hotwater boiler and kitchen exhaust, for instance. dcarch

I have had snake when I was in China. A popular dish (not cheap) for the fall. One internal organ ( gallbladder? pancreas? spleen?) is highly priced for it's medically values. They don't sell "snake oil" in China, but snake wine is considered a cure all. dcarch

I have eaten all kinds of proteins. The only protein I will not eat is if it is still moving, except oysters and clams. dcarch

What a load of tripe! I had Portuguese tripe and bean stew in a local restaurant. It was very nice So I decided to make my own version. Tripe shrinks a lot after cooking. I am glade I bought a load from a Hispanic market. dcarch Stewed tripe with Royal Corona beans from my garden.

Artificial "aged" wine pairs well with food with artificial truffle oil. dcarch -
Thank you, Thank you! There are many others here who have cooked and tasted these huge beans, I think they will all agree that the creamy and buttery flavor and texture are above average in the legume world. Of course I will grow them again. They are not cheap beans to buy. Growing the beans yourself is great because they are not dried out if you pick them fresh. Much faster for cooking them tender. Definitely no soaking required. dcarch

I posted on the "Garden Forum" a little while ago about growing giant Royal Corona beans in my garden. I harvested some yesterday for dinner. dcarch Black beans for scale to show size of Corona beans Royal Corona beans and pork, with purple daicon and Swiss chard, all from my garden

When I go to the stores to buy veggies, I noticed that there is not one single insect bite on anything. That's the reason why I grow my own veggies. Very good looking broccoli! dcarch

Yes yes! I recommend New Zealand spinach to everyone. Very tough and prolific. No problem with hot weather. My NZS completely choke out all weeds. Having NZS for dinner tonight. dcarch
