    Breakfast! 2018

I should have taken a picture. A slice of King Arthur multi-grain toast, spread with peanut butter, topped with a sliced banana. If it's good enough for Elvis, it's good enough for me. Although I stop short of grilling mine, as one would grill a grilled cheese.

    Still waiting on my email.
  3. Walgreen's. If they have Walgreens in your world.
  4. Seems to me it ought to work fine.
  5. I like the IP because it let me get rid of two appliances -- my slow cooker and my rice cooker. I did not have a stovetop pressure cooker, so I use the IP a good deal. I particularly like it when I'm cooking a big dinner; it frees up stovetop space that is usually at a premium.
  6. Thanks, y'all. I have to remember to buy extra Sugar Babies, because I'll eat half of them out of hand. Love the dang things.
  7. Ooooohhhhh...Sugar babies in cookies! I'm THERE! Is that recipe in Kim's Cookbook? If not, would you please share it?
  8. Dammit. Had to spring for Mrs. Wilkes.
  9. Swung through Dairy Queen about 2 p.m. because I'd missed lunch and had to go to the grocery, and knew I'd buy entirely too much if I went while hungry and DQ was on the way. Five-buck lunch deal, DQ cheeseburger, fries, regular drink and a little baby sundae. Good value, but a bad choice. Burger was devoid of any seasoning other than the smoke; needed salt badly. Fries were greasy. Sundae was good!

    Arby's - The Topic

I'll be damned. Jonesboro, AR, is one of the "Lucky Duck" cities. Arby's is not two miles from my house. Not a huge Arby's fan, but I will be going to check this out. Will document thoroughly.
  11. Made the molasses spice cookies last night, from this recipe. It says bake them dark, but I prefer the lighter, chewier ones. And I made Ultimate Brownies from Recipe Gullet , except I pimped them out a bit with a topping of chocolate chips, butterscotch chips and coconut. These are some fine brownies. And would be so without the topping, too.
  12. Glad to have you here! PS -- Send waffles, please!

    Dinner 2018

Fed a crew at church last night. Brunswick stew, beer cheese muffins, corn muffins, sandwiches. Running late when I got it out, so no photos of whole spread, but the sandwiches were homemade pimiento cheese and ham/turkey and cheese on King Arthur multigrain bread.
  14. Not yet.
  15. Give up on the wallet. This forum will cost you. I attribute directly to it my purchase of an Instant Pot, a Cuisinart Steam Oven, various small goods, lots of ingredients of which I'd never heard before, and at least 200 ecookbooks. Worth every penny, too. Welcome. Jump right in!
  16. There's still a lot I enjoy about a fair, though I haven't been to one in a while. The animals are always fun to see, so I walk through the barns. The baking and canning competition displays are fun to view. There are usually a couple of buildings worth of business displays and such. Around here, there are still usually several musical acts that are free with admission (others require an extra charge). The food is pricy, but it's worth it for a once-a-year splurge. And there is no better place to people-watch.

    Dinner 2018

I remember eating tuna sashimi at a little stand in Tsukiji fish market at 6 a.m. I believe that tuna had been swimming three or four hours earlier. It was otherworldly.

    Dinner 2018

I couldn't eat sushi in the US for about three months after returning from Japan. It might not be as bad on the coasts where fresher fish is available, but in flyover country....
  20. I'm presently house-shopping, and I'm paying particular attention to kitchen layouts. I want plenty of room; I enjoy people keeping me company while I cook, and an open plan kitchen forces me to keep it cleaner that I otherwise might, cleanliness being somewhat remote from godliness in my world. I like a island with work space on one side and seating on the other where someone can nurse a cocktail and visit. And God knows, I don't want two kitchens. One is a gracious plenty to keep up with.
  21. I could look at your photos all day. Just stunning.
  22. Y'all are awfully complex. I hit mine with the potato masher, then stir in cream and butter with a spoon. Works for me.
  23. Fascinating.

    Dinner 2018

Brunswick stew. First getting-cool evening of the fall. I couldn't wait. Unremarkable appearance and no attempt at nice plating since I'm working late, but the taste is good. @lindag, congrats on being able to relax and watch the news. Damned if I can do it.
