I do what blue_dolphin does. I used to do the same thing with tomato paste when I bought it in a can.

That looks good. I wonder if the finished dish could be frozen?

I lived on a farm from when I was about 10 until I was about 14. I too have memories of chickens meeting their end. My dad would use an axe to chop their heads off and one whack did the job, so it was quick. As TFTC said, often the headless chicken would race around the yard. It was a weird thing to see.

@lindag @blue_dolphin beat me to it. I ordered mine on Aug. 14th when they were still listing it, but showing it as unavailable. When i hear something i will let you know.

I ordered one from Amazon.ca and while they accepted the order, no delivery date as yet.
-
Congratulations! I think you'll be very happy with it.

That's a hoot. I would add one thing. I would includes a drawing of what two looks like II and what 4 looks like IIII so that when I ask for 2 smoked picnic shoulder as I did last week, he doesn't come home with four.

Agree with the Dijon mustard. We use it all the time and always make sure to have extra on hand as we don't get to very TJ's often, maybe a couple of times a year.

Where is Slater's 50/50?

Thermomix focaccia. These were baked in two different ovens and it shows on the colouring. Both tested done though, so I pulled them.

I can't remember exactly when I got it but it was a Christmas present one year, at least 6 years ago. I don't think the others were out yet, or if they were, we didn't know about them. I use it probably once a week. The things I use it for are mainly steaks, long cooks for tougher beef cuts, pork roasts and pork chops and chicken breasts. It heats the water fairly quickly and I am happy with it.

Your Daily Sweets: What Are You Making and Baking? (2017 – )
ElsieD replied to a topic in Pastry & Baking
@pjm333 those tarte tatins look amazing. If I am reading your posts right, you cut the puff pastry circles in the appropriate size, bake them, cook the apples in the pans and then invert them over the pastry? -
Funny, that's what crossed my mind.

I have the Polyscience and am very happy with it.

@Anna N and @kayb here is the finished product. It was very good, we managed to eat the whole thing!
-
@Anna N and @kayb thank you both. I am making this tonight. I cooked up a smoked picnic shoulder the other day and had thought of making scalloped potatoes to go with it, but this looks way better. Thank you both.
-
@kayb I must have mis-read your post. I thought you had found the recipe on-line, and wondered where you found it. I did find the book, but thanks for taking the time to post the link.
-
Where did you find this? I looked for it too, obviously your sleuthing skills are better than mine. When @Anna N posted this I wanted to take a big bite out of my tablet screen.

I read upthread somewhere that this thread does not necessarily have to be ladies who lunch, so a modest contribution from me. We had lunch today at a Korean place, which is a cafeteria type place in the basement of an office building. It is run by a Korean husband and wife and the food is wonderful. We go there from time to time, their specialty is Korean fried chicken which we have had a number of times but today I had the seafood pancake and John had the fire chicken with noodles.

It's always nice to have something to strive for. I'll do my best.

I usually take an extra step. First, they become part of my "wish list". One example of this would be the USA muffin tin that I put on my wish list a looooong time ago, like last Tuesday. Then, when I order something I really need, like the IP lid, I check my wish list, which forces me to actually take the extra step of transferring it from my wish list to my cart. I then pause to take 3 seconds to reflect on the total purchase (this is where I ask myself if I really need the items I am about to order and the answer is usually a resounding "hell, yes!) before I press the "submit order" button. See, that way nothing gets ordered without sober second thought. You may wish to try this.

Are they still in your cart?
-
Well son of a gun! The last time I checked Amazon there wasn't a listing for it, only one for the 6 quart. They are taking orders for it so I have put mine in. Thank you. Edited to add: no date on delivery of the lid but I also placed an order for extra sealing rings. Estimated delivery date for that is Dec. 6 through February, 2018.
